A question that is commonly asked about professional basketball is, Could players from the WNBA compete in the NBA? The answer is clear. Women could not survive in the NBA. Men are physically stronger and faster, better natural athletes, and naturally smarter within the confines of sports.
Throughout history, men have competed on a higher level than women. A program called Sports Science, conducted a survey on a race that was ran by both men and women. The test was conducted on a 100-meter race and an enormous, 100-mile race. After the races, the program found that in both the 100-meter and 100 mile races, the female times were 10-12% slower than the men. The program is still currently measuring times from both men and women using Olympic

times. The gap between their times has only gotten wider. Men are currently making an even wider gap on their times compared to the times of women. If we were to put LeBron James, a famous player for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Elena Donne, a famous player for the Chicago Sky and had them play in a one-on-one basketball game, LeBron James would win.
He would win because his physical strength, speed, and reaction times are greater than of hers. Elena would be able to put up a small challenge but not enough to stop LeBron.
Intelligence is huge in sports. Did you know that part of getting a scholarship to a well-known sports college is your grades? When scouts are talking to a player’s coach, they ask about how they are doing in the classroom. Men and women are equally smart when both are equally applied, but when we add sports into the equation, men are generally smarter. It is not always because of intelligence but because of reaction time. The American Association of Health tested 930 men and women ranging in age from 6-84. The test revealed that men have generally faster reaction times than females.
In sports, you make split second decisions based off your reaction times. If a basketball team were in a game and one teammate was able to get free from his opponent for a second but his teammate with the ball could not reaction fast enough, he would miss his opportunity to score than play. According to the test takes by the American Association of Health, if a man and a women were put into the same predicament, the man would do better than the
female. Test after test, survey after survey, men prove to be better athletes than females. Women from the WNBA could not thrive in the NBA. They could put up a challenge to the players of the NBA but the NBA players would succeed over the competition.
One of NBA’s all time All Star favorites, Michael Jordan, was not just about basketball all his life. Experiences in his childhood and early teens brought him to that life. His actions as an adult got him to where he is now...a millionaire. Michael Jordan was one of the best basketball players who had some bumps in his life, but overcame them to become a successful man.
"In athletics there are more males than females; therefore, it shouldn't mean that men should limit their numbers considering that the population of males is a lot higher than that of females," said Lewis.
Most players that enter the NBA draft early are 19 or 20 years-old. They are going to end up playing against 25-year-olds that are stronger, faster, and that have had more experience than they have. Along with more experience, they will not be as physically fit because one or two years of college will not do it, and high school will not do it. For example, Lebron James. He is considered one of the best to have played the game, and he went straight out of high school. Imagine if he had gone to college, he would be so much better. So if they leave after the freshman or sophomore year, they will be about five or six years behind and that will make it harder to get a spot on the bench. If they do not make it to the bench, then they will be in the D league for 2 or 3 years to help develop their skills. “The D-League uses a tiered compensation system that's based on experience. Players with ample NBA
Lopiano and Sommers agree that the amount of media coverage female athletes receive compared to male athletes indicates that female athletes are less valid. Lopiano and Sommers both point out that the media tends to highlight female athletes in action only during major events. Fortunately, for the male athletes, the tendency is different because no matter what time of the year it is, male events are always airing on the television. The media only decides to highlight events such as the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) women’s basketball Final Four, Olympics, and World Cup soccer. Since the Olympic games and World Cup occurs every four years, the Final Four also known as the semi-final round are the rare eve...
Women experience more discrimination in sports than that of men. Nussbaum states that women “are treated as mere instrument of the ends of others- reproducers, caregivers, sexual outlets, agents
The Toronto Raptors have been continuously gaining more and more popularity as a sports team in Canada, especially since they had their best season in franchise history during the 2014-2015 year when they had their first ever 50-win season. The “We The North” campaign, introduced in 2014, took over the city of Toronto and according to an article by the Globe and Mail, it “captured the essence with images of Toronto's authentic basketball culture and the gritty Raptors – the NBA's only team outside the United States, one often disrespected or marginalized” (Brady 2014). I had the opportunity of going to watch the team play against the New York Knicks at the Air Canada Centre on Friday November 17 this season, and it was definitely a surreal
Women are becoming a bigger part of the professional sports world. The number of professional sports for women is growing at a very fast rate. Right now though, the comparison of women's professional sports to men's professional sports still varies greatly. For example, men's professional sports range from wrestling to football to skateboarding. Women on the other hand, do not have the opportunity to participate in these professional sports. But this is changing quickly. Women are beginning to receive the same opportunities in sports as men.
Throughout history, women have had to struggle for equality in all elements of our society, but no where have they had a more difficult time than in the area of athletics. Sports is a right of passage that has always been grafted to boys and men. The time has come for our society to accept women athletes and give them the attention they deserve.
...espect I feel it does deserves. Almost every women in sports practices just as hard as men do. Women put in their blood, sweat, and tears into their sport just like men do. Also, women participate in sports even when Mother Nature visits them and to me that seems like that would take a lot of effort to still compete. I have seen Oklahoma’s point guard, Whitney Hand, back in 2009, tear her ACL to a degree, where I know if that happened to any man, they would be in the same pain. I believe that if more men actually sit down and watch women’s professional sports then it could possibly become a bigger empire.
In summary, Despite opponents argue, fans want to see thunderous dunks and incredible athleticism over the lesser abilities of females, male competitions is more intense and there is more at risk, and male driven associations produce more revenue than female driven associations. It is apparent that male and females are built differently therefore they have different abilities, females go through the same types of events and often have more on the line, and female athletics aren 't given the same recognition or praise. Then, maybe one day female will receive the same amount of pay as their male counterparts. As, Vera Nazarian once implied, “A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human.”
But women and girl athletes have yet to reach parity with men. Women are still only about one-third of interscholastic and intercollegiate athletes. In addition, women college athletes receive less than 26% of college sports' operating budgets, and less than 28% of college recruiting money.
For most of human history, athletic competition has been regarded as an exclusively masculine affair. Women weren't aloud to watch most sporting events let alone participate in them. Not till late 19th century did women really begin participating in sporting events. Although women were permitted to participate in many sports, relatively few showed interest, for a variety of social and psychological reasons that are still poorly understood. Title IX declares: "No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal aid." Therefore sex should not deem females athletic ability as inferior in comparison to men. Women are physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of playing any sport just as men are.
When it comes to women's sports and popularity in the 21 century it has been little progress made toward gender equality for woman sports, now in the 21 century more kids and adults know who some of these females athletes are but as far as media coverage goes for female athlete are in the shadows of the male athletes dominance and the tradition that males developed in sport due to what gender establish athletics first, because women sports were brought up years after men athletics had been established.
Are high school sports beneficial or not for students? I personally believe if a student is in a high school sport they’re forced to prioritize between school and their sport, and at a young age I believe the student would decide to use his time to improve in his sport instead of school. Which in the long run would affect his academics, unless they decide to stay up late and work on their homework to keep up with both school and their sport. But, even like that in time the lack of sleep would catch up to them, and cause them to do even worse in both academics, and sports. High school sports are like the lotto in my opinion, many play but only a few get rewarded for their work. Therefore, high school sports cause more negativity than positivity.
Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
