There are many reasons why I want to become a coach in the future, they range from the love of the sport to just being born with a coaching mentality. My father installed a coaching personality into me when I was young and I had no clue why he was doing it. As I grew older it came more visible when young kids in the elementary looked up to me as a role model on the court/field and wanted to learn from me. I really found out that I enjoyed coaching when I was reefing a sixth grade boys basketball game a few years ago. After I returned home that evening I looked back and realized that I had so much fun teaching those kids the rules and helping them become better players. I do not expect to become a coach in the Hall of Fame, I mean that would be amazing, but I just want to be a coach to guide young people on the right path in a sport or in their life. One last thing that I would expect when coaching would be respect, because when there is mutual respect within the team this eliminates selfishness and controversy amongst athletes and coaches. I want my athletes to learn that sports is similar to life. Practice is for learning and fine tuning the material and the games are like the test or business task. Also I want my athletes to realize that culture trumps talent and strategy, and that this applies into life after sports are over. If my athletes understand that giving full effort each day can compound over time and then they will be able to accomplish things that seemed impossible at
