I felt the connection with the programs that I have watched on NITV through the content it had explored the social issues, history, and belongingness of a diverse nation and aboriginal culture through the power of creativity which was expressed through art. The NITV news I have watched was based on ‘Story of the world’s longest stock route unfolds at National Museum’ (Johnson, 2015) by the artistic forms the indigenous artist Curtis Taylor has revealed the history and the stories of the people in his territory. Whereas is this encountered by others? Does the past matter for the future? Does aboriginal community get the equal chance like others? The artist John Wing explores the social issues which needs to be discussed and spoken about through his art practice, he reveals through his work of how the minority groups being treated most importantly due to his own identity of being a white aboriginal he focuses on the ways we all people in Australia can belong to one another through simple ways. I intend that the challenge is depicted through many stereotypes, racism which comes to many people from different cultures and especially the light skin aboriginal people because it is not obvious Wing is aboriginal through his tone of skin and he states he is “100% Aboriginal, 100% Chinese and 100% Australian.” I personally cannot understand why people find it difficult to understand a person’s identity of who there are through their values they carry within themselves. The issue of racism continues throughout any perspectives of daily life and one the quote I really support that many people do not want to believe is that “human beings are 99.9% genetically identical to each other it is that 0.1% that makes us different, too often, we define ourselves by these tiny differences (UBUNTU Project, 2013).” If Australia is known to be a ‘multicultural’ nation then why it is that aboriginal people do not have the equal chances as the rest? I have studied previously and learnt that aboriginal people is going through the problems of education, jobs, housing etc. If this nation ‘government’ accepted migrates and refugees into this country in any circumstances they should give opportunities for the aborigines as well. Australians are the once who ‘stole’ the country and they are still the once who is acting as if they know what they are doing and I don’t
