Leadership, scholarship, diversity, and citizenship are all characteristics that I learned how to appreciate over time. My cultural background is very diverse, I was born in the US, I have roots in Africa, I lived for an extended time in France, and I traveled across Europe and North Africa. Therefore, I grew up in a diverse environment and developed an important skill: Leadership. As I grew up in diverse cultures, I learned to respect different customs and to value different ideas, which allowed me to quickly rise in the ranks of the National Honor Society (NHS) Chapter of DeBakey High School for Health Professions. I was elected as vice-president of NHS in the 11th grade, and because of my hard-work and enthusiasm, I was elected president of NHS for the current year. As the President of NHS, I organized a volunteering campaign with NHS to aid in the shelters following Harvey. I, as a leader, went to help in the NRG center shelter. In the shelter, I organized and passed out clothes to young boys. When doing so, I met children from all races; I listened to their stories while gently folding their clothes. I met two brothers holding each other’s hands while searching for clothes, a view that broke my heart. After I helped them and gave them some comfort, they smiled: the best smile I have ever seen. As I looked around my area, I felt great satisfaction when I saw Houston uniting as one. This showed me the essence of citizenship which is to perform any minimum help to those in need to help society. D1: I have decided to look at a 6 year old going through bereavement. Bereavement means to lose an individual very close to you. When children go through bereavement they are most likely to feel sad and upset about the person’s death. Children at a young age may not understand when a family member dies. Children may not understand bereavement. For example a 6 year old’s father been in a car crash and has died from that incident. Death is unpredictable and children can’t be prepared for a death of a family member as no one knows when someone is going to die or not. Unfortunately every child can experience bereavement even when a pet dies. It is important that we are aware that effects on the child so we can support them in the aftermath.

Being a part of the National Honor Society will help me do just that. I have worked hard for outstanding grades, citizenship, and becoming a leader and role model for other classmates.
The NHS was then finalised during 1948, the main role of the NHS was to reduce health inequalities throughout Britain, so that everyone could be treated the same way, whatever their finance stability, job status and location. They believed that this programme should have reduced inequalities throughout Britain. This presentation has informed my knowledge about Ofsted greatly. As a student, I have only ever witnessed my previous teachers and schools being inspected and have never experienced the ‘behind the scenes’ of an Ofsted inspection. By completing this task, I feel that I am now able to understand the process that Ofsted follow in a clearer form and feel that this would be very beneficial towards my professional development. This is because as I aspire to be a primary school teacher, I am now aware of what Ofsted look out for in an inspection and feel that I would be able to implement the knowledge gained into my practice and work ethics.
Throughout this semester—as a class—we discussed why and how diversity is important, and how we can manage diversity in successful and productive approach. My aim in this paper is to clarify what—I believe—ought to do as an ethical leader toward promoting diversity. First, I will briefly discuss the importance of ethical leadership and diversity. Then, I will shadow on other dimensions in understanding diversity and how to achieve them. Finally, I will conclude with my personal statement which is: “diversity—besides being a positive tool both ethically and economically— goes beyond to be the guiding tool for a bright future for the mankind. The following essay is a reflective paper on an event that I encountered as a student nurse during my first clinical placement in my first year of study. The event took place in a long term facility. This reflection is about the patient whom I will call Mrs. D. to protect her confidentiality. Throughout this essay I will be using LEARN model of reflection. I have decided to reflect on the event described in this essay since I believe that it highlights the need for nurses to have effective vital signs ‘assessment skills especially when treating older patients with complex medical diagnoses.
I am working as a staff nurse at one of the Integrated Management System (IMS) accredited hospital in Sarawak since 2014. I qualified as a Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing in year 2007. My first year I have been working in a multi-disciplinary ward. We cover a range of specialties including minor and major surgeries. The health care team in my ward consists of 1 Unit Manager, 20 staff nurses and 15 care assistants.
Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
On a more individual level, openness to human diversity plays a role in adjusting to the changes of the future. People are discovering that even within cultures, individuals come from diverse backgrounds, have different personalities, and prefer different ways of life. Young leaders can build a stronger relationship with their followers as they enhance their own appreciation for human diversity. As people become more diverse, leaders must learn how to communicate with them as individuals if a vision is to be shared, a cohesive group to be formed, and a goal to be achieved. Despite differences in opinions, the leader and followers can work together to complement each other as they move toward the mission of the group. By exposing themselves to all kinds of situation and communicating with many types of people, young leaders can develop an appreciation of human diversity. Conflicts caused by differences among individuals' personalities and cultures have created many ethical issues, and the number will only increase in this global society.
The service I completed my work experience was a Pre-School. This organisation belongs to the public sector, and provides education for children aged 2-4. Due to confidentiality, I cannot state the place or name of this particular early years setting. I attended this setting for seven days and during my time there, I observed what types of quality care was being demonstrated and if all three values of care were being applied. Pre-school A used all three values of care which gives everyone equality. These three values are; Promoting respect and dignity, anti-discriminatory practice and individual rights and choices.
