During the spring semester of my junior year, the nomination process for Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program began. I had not paid much attention to the announcements made over the intercom at school, because I had never even heard of the program. However, I was later shocked to learn that I had been nominated in three areas: english, math, and music. This was an astounding achievement considering it is uncommon to even be nominated in one area. In the following weeks, my counselor explained to me that the Governor’s Honors Program is a selective summer program that provides chosen students with enriching learning opportunities in their area of study. The first step after being nominated, however, was to successfully pass the first round of …show more content…
If I had entered the interview with more confidence, the judges would have noticed my boldness, and it might have made a difference in their decision. I also realize the value of hard work and adequate preparation for any event or task in life. To achieve any goal, big or small, it is important to dedicate your time and energy towards successfully achieving that goal, and leaving little to no room for error or unexpected obstacles. If you persevere through the difficulty of the process, the reward of success, whether determined by yourself or others, will be worth the struggle. Finally, this failure reminded me that it is important to be passionate about what you work towards. Although I might have had a better chance at advancing in math or english, I would not have enjoyed my time in the program. There is always something to learn from failure, and I consider this failure to also be a success. The honor of being nominated by teachers I value and the self satisfaction found through hard work and dedication is worth more to than the opinion of strangers. Life is not determined by our successes or failures, but rather by what we learn from them, and our ability to keep moving

D1: I have decided to look at a 6 year old going through bereavement. Bereavement means to lose an individual very close to you. When children go through bereavement they are most likely to feel sad and upset about the person’s death. Children at a young age may not understand when a family member dies. Children may not understand bereavement. For example a 6 year old’s father been in a car crash and has died from that incident. Death is unpredictable and children can’t be prepared for a death of a family member as no one knows when someone is going to die or not. Unfortunately every child can experience bereavement even when a pet dies. It is important that we are aware that effects on the child so we can support them in the aftermath.
How will you contribute to the mission of the National Health Service Corps in providing care to underserved communities?
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
When candidates are competing for an award, a job, or an honor, they often use the qualities of their character as evidence as to why they deserve it. I certainly understand and believe in the necessity of qualifications; however, I have also always believed that having a plan of what one will do with a certain honor is an integral part of deserving it. That is why this essay is not about my previous accomplishments. This essay is a declaration of my ideas to serve as a representative of Seton Hill University by making the community, state, and country a better place for all.
Leadership, Character, Service, Citizenship. When I think of the NHS, leadership, character, community, and role modeling are all things that come to mind. Being a part of the National Honor Society will help me do just that. I have worked hard for outstanding grades, citizenship, and becoming a leader and role model for other classmates.

Healthcare plays an important role in almost every person’s life at one point or another. Many times, one can get caught without, or underinsured and it can be detrimental to their livelihood. With the rising cost of healthcare, it is likely that having a national healthcare policy in place, and as an individual, being able to afford and obtain adequate health insurance has not been required until now. With the new national healthcare plan, it is required for all citizens to obtain and maintain some sort of public or private insurance policy. The rising costs can be attributed to many things. A significant reason for the astronomical cost of health care is because of the staggering amount of uninsured or underinsured individuals receiving medical attention and almost many never paying the bill. Those who do have insurance have seen a gradual increase in their premiums and deductibles to make up for this.

The following essay is a reflective paper on an event that I encountered as a student nurse during my first clinical placement in my first year of study. The event took place in a long term facility. This reflection is about the patient whom I will call Mrs. D. to protect her confidentiality. Throughout this essay I will be using LEARN model of reflection. I have decided to reflect on the event described in this essay since I believe that it highlights the need for nurses to have effective vital signs ‘assessment skills especially when treating older patients with complex medical diagnoses.
To improve my understanding of maintaining my capability for practice as a RN, I set a goal to learn in depth from my classes, related units, and through interacting with my friends and tutors. There were many setbacks on the way, but as I became more acquainted with the matter I began understanding better. In this reflection I’ll use Gibbs reflective cycle (Gibbs, 1988) to address my experiences as a student nurse in fulfilling the maintenance and capability for practice. Description Through tutorials, lectures and simulation classes every semester, our practice is enhanced and maintained so that the skills and knowledge we learnt is always nurtured while new ones are gained.
