My Role Model: My Father As An Unconditional Helper

I grew in a small hard working family which had my two main role models my father as a store owner and my mother as an unconditional helper. They worked very hard in order to provide me the best education possible. I have always been proud of my family, and I admire especially the way they dealt with their problems, even under extremely hard circumstances. Their optimistic way of looking at life, focusing on the brightside and improving at whatever could be improved, motivated me to be the person I am today. Since I was a child I have been a very proactive person. I was always eager to learn new things and had a fast learning ability. During high school I discovered how much I enjoyed the classes that challenged me, forcing me to hone my skills, to think critically, and to innovate. I enjoyed participating in chemistry, biology projects, art projects, as well as those activities that made me feel I was capable of improving. During that time I also got involved in a community service club named: “JMI: Ignacians Young missioners” whose purpose was to help children with limited resources, by sharing educational activities with them, as well as playing and cooking together. Another important skill that I acquired was my team-working capacity. In lab we also learned that we can do better as team, and I realized it is more efficient to be part of a multidisciplinary team composed by people with different backgrounds. I have been working on several projects related to cancer, such as “breast cancer genetic therapy using viral and bacterial vectors expressing IL12” In collaboration with Gabriela Kramer, I worked at the “Evaluation of immune mechanisms responsible for antitumor protection when animals are immunized with T. cruzi antigens”, which all led to a few publications (see
