I hereby tender my resignation as Assistant Professor at CSU, Stanislaus effective immediately.
Regrettably, this resignation is due to the discriminatory and hostile work environment I have experienced, since joining the faculty on 8/19/2016, at the hands of students and faculty members who undermined me as a professor by pushing students to write letters of complaint, and by themselves writing letters of complaint and raising concerns with Department and campus leadership, which have racially mischaracterized me as a professor and colleague. As a result, I have felt unsupported and unsafe participating in department activities and teaching courses has induced a great deal of anxiety, headaches, heart palpitations, tension, jitteriness, and sleepless nights based on unsubstantiated student grievances; you might note that this is reflected in my Fall 2017 IDEA student evaluations.
In the article “Academia, Love me Back”, by Tiffany Martinez, the author writes about the stereotyping by her college professor and society in general. She contends that her college professor is biased based on the comments her professor wrote on her assignment. She establishes her academic credentials, describes a biased society against Latinos, describes the racism she has encountered personally, describes her feelings of inadequacy, and makes a challenge to academia at the end. Martinez effectively communicates her arguments to academia based on her logic, organization, and style.
In 1994, renowned college professor Nikki Giovanni published an awe-inspiring article. It contains guidance to black college students on how to academically apply themselves in college, and she teaches them how to deal with the ignorance of white people, from sharp tongued comebacks to gaining a professor’s respect. Along the way, the article “Campus Racism 101” states Giovanni has acquired a tenure, she has a teaching position for life, at the predominately white student body Virginia Tech (Giovanni 11). Nikki Giovanni’s “Campus Racism 101” uses logic when giving advice to black students on how to succeed in college, appeals to Giovanni’s credibility, and appeals to the emotions of racism all in order to educate how black college students need to deal with ignorance on a college campus.
College is full of new experiences, new people, and new communities, and many universities encourage the exchange of new ideas and diversity among students. This year, the University of Chicago sent out a letter to all of its incoming freshmen informing them that in keeping with their beliefs of freedom of expression and healthy discussion and debate, the school would not provide “safe spaces” or “trigger warnings”. Senior Sophie Downes found this letter to be misleading in many ways, including in the definitions of safe spaces and trigger warnings, as well as the issues it was addressing. Downes claims that the letter was misrepresenting the school, but also was using the letter as a sort

In recent years, a rise in verbal abuse and violence directed at people of color, lesbians, and gay men, and other historically persecuted groups has plagued the United States. Among the settings of these expressions of intolerance are college and university campuses, where bias incidents have occurred sporadically since the mid-1980's. Outrage, indignation and demands for change are the responses to these incidents - understandably, given the lack of racial and social diversity among students, faculty and administrators on most campuses. Many universities, under pressure to respond to the concerns of those who are the objects of hate, have adopted codes or olicies prhibiting speech that offends any group based on race gender, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. That's the wrong response, well-meaning or not. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects speech no matter how offensive its content.
The role of a principal is a vital function of the school. The manner in which a principal performs determines that success of the school. Being in the position as an assistant principal has allowed me to view this role totally different from I did when I was a teacher. I am grateful to intern, full time trusting that I will gain the most out of this experience. However, there are a number of lessons that I have learned within these first quarter of my internship that will vastly impact my leadership as a new leader.
As a part of the legislative committee of the Student Government Association, I have the opportunity to review and develop legislative that can improve the university for students and the administration alike. In addition, being a part of the social media team has also allowed me to observe situations and contemplate solutions from the university's perspective. Finally, being a member of the Black Student Association reinforces my belief of the importance of dialogue and striving for more diversity and equality in various institutions. Each of these perspectives emphasizes the importance of both grassroots based and institutionally based changes. I am continuing to expand these perspectives in order to develop my outlook on the problems that need to be
I would be grateful if you would accept this letter as an application for the post of Assistant Headteacher at Welham. I believe that I have the required skills and experience to make a success of this opportunity and I intend, throughout this letter, to suggest ways in which my contributions would be of value to such a position within your school.
In the past, minorities have been under-represented and discriminated on college campuses. Most of this is the result of the Jim Crow laws of segregation, which gave African Americ...
Why I Have Chosen to Become a Teacher Happiness is not about being filthy rich, or about how many designer clothes I can wear, happiness is about making a difference in the lives of the future. It will be such an amazing experience to go daily to a place of work and feel as though I truly belong. Many people do not realize that if it weren’t for teachers, we would not have doctors, lawyers, and many other professions that greatly depend on the guidance of their teachers to enrich their lives. A semantic memory process is provided only in school, that will follow students throughout their lives.
The introduction to “The People Eat for Free and the Art of Collective Production in Maoist China” by Christine I. Ho begins with background information on the piece itself along with the standing of Mao and the socialist party during the 1950’s. While detailing this, Ho begins discussing how due to the communist influence over China, the collective nature of it leaked into the world as art as well. As, many works started being created anonymously and through the efforts of many individuals instead of just one. This notion was also true for the piece entitled The People Eat for Free, in which depicted a utopia of optimal communism where everyone helps everyone else and food is readily available for all. The collective nature of this piece was done to further the notion of a collective society in itself along with the intertwinement of government ideology and art.
There are many reasons people decide to enter the teaching field. Some enter because they enjoy working with people or children, others because they like being off during the summer months, and still others because of their love for a particular subject. Although all these reasons are valid, I feel my reasons are much simpler. The bottom line is that I love kids and enjoy working with them. My desire to make learning a more positive experience for them has only increased with time.
To begin something new, you must sacrifice something old. To enter the real world, you must graduate your childhood.
Focus on the Remaining Employees: Managers must make sure the remaining employees are reassured that the situation is not negative. Prepare emails or memos for the remaining employees explaining the termination. Be honest and upfront about the reasons and consequences of terminations. If the termination is for absenteeism, then state that. If the company is experience financial problems, it is also a good idea to get that out in the open to avoid gossip and fear mongering. Implement a transition of responsibilities and assign duties to other associates.
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else. Well I guess everyone does that is what I would tell myself.
