Understanding, Kindness, and Open-Mindedness: My Life Philosophy

For this paper I will be addressing my personal philosophy, what is most important about it and how I try to apply it in everyday life. My personal philosophy for life in general is to try to treat everyone with understanding and kindness, no matter what kind of day I have had. The most important concepts I attribute to this philosophy includes, not making snap judgments when I first meet someone, always try to do a random act of kindness at least once a week if not once a day, and learning that I do not always have to be right, but being open to new ideas and perspectives. There are other concepts that I include in this which are letting people explain their side of a point, even when it disagrees with your own, and generally just being nice and polite to people no matter the circumstances.
The three concepts I listed I view as most important to me for my personal philosophy because they are very simple ideas, yet so many forget to do them. I admit that sometimes I forget to follow my own philosophy sometimes, most of the time I do it is because I am projecting my bad day on to a total stranger of even a loved one. It wasn’t until I was older, in my teenage years, when I learned to apply my first major concept, and stop making snap judgments of people I just meet. This happened during my first retreat when I was in high school. I was put into a group with people I had not talked to in my grade and we shared what we have experienced in our life so far, and people expressed things that they have went through that I had never expected them to reveal.
