The picture I choose for my personal artifact assignment is a picture of my old HALO-3 helmet based of the video game HALO which is a sci-fi & military science fiction first-person shooter video game. The game deals with inter- galactic warfare which also involves fictional characters to travel around in space, explore new discoveries and findings in planets. The reason why I choose this helmet as my artifact is that it relates to our coarse earth and space a lot as it merely almost looks like a future of what could be of a astronauts helmet and through the game and in the course they also show resemblance of how life is in space, different theories and the game also sheds some light on how the future of space travel may be in the years yet
to come. The helmet is a great resource for this course as it seems visually very sci-fi and also lets you know certain equipment space travelers (astronauts) need to survive in space. An astronaut’s helmet plays a unique and significant role in safety and survival of an astronaut. The helmet protects the astronaut from harmful solar and ultra-violet radiation; as well it is made of polycarbonate a thick layer which is strong as bulletproof glass which protects the wearer of the helmet from debris and dysfunctional equipment. Nevertheless, full exposure to vacuum in space can be insanely harmful leading to lung damage being one of the many side effects. The helmet provides protection for the astronaut from the dangerously low pressure space. Without the helmet, internal pressure of the astronaut’s body will push blood vessels and tissue outward. The helmet is one of the many items at home the reminds me of space, I further want to peruse a career in space-science and I think taking this course will help increase my knowledge and understanding of space, earth and cosmology and I think talking about astronauts is a start and hopefully in the years to come space exploration would become more accessible and resource efficient.
The plaque shown is a light umber in color, with a funeral scene etched out in black and white engravings into the smooth surface. The figures are very geometric in style and simplified. Even so, each figure seems to still have somewhat differentiating features from one another. How they are places in relation to each other creates a sense of rhythm within the piece. Helping guide the viewer, and lends itself to the illusion of the element of time.
The display that I will be focusing my research on is called First Californians. The display encompasses many of the different artifacts pertaining to the first Native Americans of California. All artifacts are displayed behind glass cases with brief description of how the items were used. Artifacts from many tribes are displayed. However, the two most prominent tribes displayed are the Chumash Natives of the Northern Channel Islands and the Gabreilino (Tongva) natives of modern day LA and Orange County Regions. In the center of the room lay...

The students and I took several pictures of the Marine Corps Memorial Sculpture to share with family and friends. In conclusion, I have The Marine Corps War Memorial sculpture known as the Iwo Jima Memorial is a vital part of American History. And how they lost their lives to protect the United States of
Education is why people attend college, hundreds of thousands of students are thrown onto campuses across the world and get involved in various campus clubs; however, despite their vast amount of differences, these kids share one similarity, they all brought their video game console. On move-in day almost every dormitory has some kind of gaming console. It is a common denominator that students share, that they can bond over. The PlayStation 4 is of the latest generation of consoles and by some considered the premiere gaming console. The Sony PlayStation plays all the latest games in stunning quality, run apps seamlessly, and can play almost any media, it is the perfect media device for college.
...an picking the artifacts. Although I did learn about William Morris and his designs in my history classes I learnt about the concept behind his design decisions and in depth analysis of Morris’s evolution as a designer only when I started working on this exhibit. It is imperative that you do research before arriving on any decision in regard to putting up any exhibit. Furthermore after analyzing the different options, it is imperative that you have facts to back up your decisions of the artifacts chosen. Every artifact that you pick for your case should have direct relation to your concept and it should be consistent among all artifacts. Overall a lot of thought should be put into the exhibit and the concept must reflect the ideas distinctly.
The first artifact I chose was an interview I did on a Jewish family for a family case study in family systems class. I chose this interview because I enjoy learning about other people cultural, religion and the way they things how different everyone is from each other. What I learned from this interview is that people are made up of many different values and characteristics not person it the same so cultures might vaules things that other might not see not as important. As a teacher it your job to take in consideration that every children in your classroom will come from a different culture, religion, values and characters you have to keep you own thought about that out of the classroom and focus on them no matter what you might be thinking
Summary of my Art Project I like the soft tone that fabric creates. I chose a piece of corduroy
Thank you for choosing our school to select artifacts for the time capsule to Mars. I have chosen three things to take into space and they include a dollar bill, a bottle of water, and a pack of Ramen noodles. Future people will be able to see how we lived in the past and also how we interacted because they can learn more about us.
My artifact is a picture of me when I was interviewed by a local news station. This is a significant moment for me because it really changed my perspective of the world. Seeing myself on television made me realize how powerful my voice could be and that I could help my community in more ways than I thought. This experience taught me numerous lessons about community involvement and public speaking. I had never been interviewed before and had always wondered what it was like. This exposure is preparing me for job and scholarship interviews. I felt a sense of pride for my accomplishments done and being to see myself projected to the public. The greatest reward of all of it was talking to my community members after the fact. I met some really interesting
What is a visual image? What context does a single visual image hold? These questions have been a topic of discussion. However, what will be discussed is how the picture that I selected have a significant meaning behind it. To begin with, the visual image that peaked my interest is a movie poster. The movie poster that I have selected is the Avengers Age of Ultron. As many knows, this movie is a very popular movie with youths and young adults. However, most people are unaware themselves of how the Avengers Age of Ultron movie poster can attract people attention. To convey an understanding of what makes Avengers Age of Ultron poster significant, I will personally give a well-thought, detailed explanations of the Avengers Age of Ultron movie
My Roman coin was minted in A.D. 336 and is sized at 15mm 1.5gm. It is part of the GLORIA EXERCITVS (the glory of the army) and can be described as two soldiers wearing helmets, facing one another, reversed spear in outer hands, inner hands on shields resting on the ground; between them one standard inscribed with a Chi-Rho. (RIC VII Arles 394.) Constantine I and his son, Constantius II, had administered the remaining provinces of the Eastern Empire. The Western Empire was then divided between Constantine II and Constans. Constantine II took the lands that were previously owned his grandfather, Constantius Chlorus. In 335 A.D., the number of nummus to a pound was raised to 192, and the reverse of the GLORIA EXERCITVS coins then had only one banner because they were so much smaller.
Design has established itself as core elements in societies helping countless communities build infrastructure, invent new ways to better living conditions and create design desirable for consumption hence bettering the economy. Though this is a positive, most designers of the 21st century use their skills and their designs alike for those who can afford it; designing for what’s in fact the minority, 10% of the world’s population. The reason why developmental aid and design for development is essential to improving standards of living for those who live in developing countries, but to also bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. Ilse Oosterlaken (2009, p.100) equates most designs for development that use a `participatory' process as having a limited, user-centred approach; and suggests instead a more universal design approach, which she calls ‘capability sensitive design’. This essay will illustrate designs that have contributed to developmental design through capability sensitive design approach, considering sustainable design that are not only better the environment, community health and social welfare but the country’s economic standing. Through evaluating each example’s potential for real, sufficient, diverse and lasting value for the targeted users we can determine each design’s efficiency.
Would you believe me if I told you that not all scientists just look inside a petri dish, scribble some words down, and fix all of life’s problems? Well, actually, there are plenty of different ways to research the same thing! You also have to think about all the different types of science fields that we have researching many different things. Some do look through petri dishes, some look through advanced telescopes that can see billions of miles into space, some use computers and chemicals to light up portions of the body and brain. It is quite honestly fascinating to think about all of the advancements that we are trying to make as humans. Specifically, the science of Anthropology
Culture is a set of basic assumptions and values, orientations to life, beliefs, policies, procedures and behavioural conventions that are shared by a group of people, and influence each member’s behaviour and his or her interpretation of the ‘meaning’ of other people’s behaviour.(Dahl, 2003) The culture of a people will determine the way of life of those people; culture entails many things such as dressing, religion, celebrations, and values. Culture allows them to identify with others of similar mindsets and backgrounds. Cultural heritage are the evidences of how a group of people have been able to sustain their existence in space and manifested through basic aspects of life such as handicrafts, language, traditions, traditional games, gastronomy, art, music and traditional music instruments, museum, monuments, visual reminder of people’s history(Oladayo, 2013) Cultural heritage involves more than just
