Passion for learning and helping other to learn have been with me through various stages of my personal and professional life. Continuing education is my lifestyle. Therefore, I chose a career path that adult is leaning as its heart. I am talking here about my role as training and development specialist in my organization who should facilitate learning and educational activities to help my colleagues perform their work better and progress in their career. However, there are a number of challenges assorted with my job as a trainer or educator dealing with adult learners, and I should be aware of the most common ones and think of the best strategies to deal with and get the desired learning results.
In their busy life filled with competing demands,
There are various teaching perspectives used by educators such as the nurturing perspective and the social reform perspective. The social reform perspective is effective for adult learners as it involved the transformational learning as well as a critical reflection (Nesbit, 2005). The perspective depends on experiences that help transform the beliefs of an individual from old ways of understanding to new perspectives. The purpose of adult education mainly focuses of providing learning experiences that help them achieve a certain goal. Therefore, the transformational phases differ depending on the individual objectives or achievements. The perspectives also help in critical thinking and reflection that supports the transformational learning
Adults are self-motivated. They learn best by building on what they already know and when they are actively engaged (Lindeman, 2010). The approach of adult education revolves around non-vocational ideals and is based on experience rather than subjects (Lindeman, 2010). It helps adults gain knowledge about their powers, capacities, and limitations (Funnell et al, 2012).
L. The Role of Aging in Adult Learning: Implications for Instructors in Higher Education (2004,December)
An adult learner is anyone in a college or university 25 years old or older. Often, adults decide to enroll in upper level education to develop their financial merit.

The learning process for adults is never ending and can be very challenging. As an adult educator, teaching adult learners you will face many challenges in the learning process. It is our responsibility to keep the learners engaged, and to help them to realize their full learning potential.
The facilitation of this model allows adult learners to be active and self-directed in their learning.
According to dictionary.com, “any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling” constitutes something as a passion. Passions can be either positive or negative. In my life, my passions influence my actions and my goals for the future. My goals have been a part of my life since I can remember and there are certain personality traits and motivators of mine that push me to accomplish these goals. My passions have originated from events I have gone through and realizations that I have come to. These huge motivators in my life include my desire for happiness, my determination to succeed, and my desire to help others.
“Class,” I announced, “today I will teach you a simpler method to find the greatest common factor and the least common multiple of a set of numbers.” In fifth grade, my teacher asked if anyone had any other methods to find the greatest common factor of two numbers. I volunteered, and soon the entire class, and teacher, was using my method to solve problems. Teaching my class as a fifth grader inspired me to teach others how important math and science is. These days, I enjoy helping my friends with their math homework, knowing that I am helping them understand the concept and improve their grades.
Her Passion for Learning & nbsp; It took me eighteen years to realize what an extraordinary influence my mother has had on my life. She' s the kind of person who has thoughtful discussions about which artist she would most want to have her portrait painted by (Sargent), the kind of mother who always has time for her four children, and the kind of community leader who has a seat on the board of every major project to assist Washington' s impoverished citizens. Growing up with such a strong role model, I developed many of her enthusiasms. I not only came to love the excitement of learning simply for the sake of knowing something new, but I also came to understand the idea of giving back to the community in exchange for a new sense of life, love, and spirit. & nbsp; My mother's enthusiasm for learning is most apparent in travel.
What inspired me to teach was moulded by my own experiences of school life. I was fortunate to have teachers who were driven by helping me to achieve and prepare me for wider society. I thoroughly enjoyed my education and thrived in every opportunity that was presented to me from being a Team Leader for younger students, to completing my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, to being awarded Head Girl. I have gained leadership skills and been a positive role model. This has further enhanced my ambition to pursue my vocation of teaching. My dedication to Sociology has led me to develop an understanding that is complex and curious of the world; this knowledge I feel can be shared with students so that they too can see society from other perspectives. Through work experience and observations, I realise that teaching can be challenging because of its physical and emotional demands. I want to increase my student’s sociological awareness and trigger the same passion I feel from this subject. The aspects I enjoy most within sociology are psychological and criminological theories, and studies whic...
Teaching the adult student is a great and unique responsibility; Andragogy preaches that teaching the adult learner takes a certain skill set and approach in order to be highly effective. The adult teaching theory and approach is based off the characteristics of the adult student. Andragogy views the adult learner as a very highly motivated student, a student ready and prepared to learn, and a student that comes to class with expectations of learning (Knowles 1984, pg12). With such a capable learner in the classroom the teacher must make the necessary adjustments. When teaching the adult learner, the teacher will have respect for their students and respect the fact that each student will have their own individual learning style. The teacher will also allow the adult student to experie...
The one-size-fits-all programming for [adult literacy students] that has predominated in the past should not and indeed cannot continue in the future if practitioners are to be responsive to learners' needs. Rather, practitioners must meaningfully assist adults in learning to read not only the word but their world. (Sissel 1996, p. 97).
Within the andragogical model described by Knowles, Holton, and Swanson (2015), adults need learning experiences that are different than those found in the pedagogical model. Instead of waiting for experiences that are directed and controlled by a teacher, adults need to have a clear rationale and understanding for the learning, feel past experiences are valuable, and have a developed internal system for motivation in order to help a learning experience be successful. The connection and orientation to the learning task, the readiness to learn, and self-concept are other important ideas to adult learning.
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. My experiences with in my passions have helped me aligned my vision for my life. They have given me the valuable knowledge that have set me up for success to get to this point in life.
