According to dictionary.com, “any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling” constitutes something as a passion. Passions can be either positive or negative. In my life, my passions influence my actions and my goals for the future. My goals have been a part of my life since I can remember and there are certain personality traits and motivators of mine that push me to accomplish these goals. My passions have originated from events I have gone through and realizations that I have come to. These huge motivators in my life include my desire for happiness, my determination to succeed, and my desire to help others. My mood determines how I act on a daily basis. Happiness is a simple concept that makes life immensely more beautiful in its presence. …show more content…
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted a career where I could help people in any way. I have wanted to be a pediatric nurse since I was young. As I have grown older, I have come to the realization that I want to become a surgeon. Becoming a surgeon would allow me to heal any physical pain in another’s life. All of the schooling that I will be completing in the near future will all be for the goal of providing aid for others. Wanting to help others encourages me to attend Case Western Reserve University. This is a college that is ranked highly for academics and also has a highly accredited medical school that will provide me with the education needed to move on to helping others. One day in my life, I might even consider joining the military as a medic. This would allow me to help those fighting for our country. Until I reach the point in my life where I am capable of helping others first hand, I enjoy giving back to those in the community through community service with Interact Club and also volunteering at a local fire department. With both of these services, I fundraise to raise money for the community along with helping at other activities. Another common act that I have done is donate blood. Providing for those who cannot provide for themselves is something that I am very passionate about. I feel as though I have everything in my life that I need and I want to provide to others
As a person, I am fueled by compassion and I would like to help others in my college years be so as well. My nature to help those around me has led me to participate in community service projects like putting together thanksgiving food baskets for families and purchasing
Throughout high school, I have been involved in numerous extracurricular activities that focus on participating in community service projects. While in these clubs and organizations, I have been able to help hundreds of people all over the world from packing Operation Christmas Child boxes to serving meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Oklahoma City. My involvement in these projects has lead me to falling in love with helping other people out in any way possible. Because of my realization of my passion to serve others I know that the medical field is the correct career for
What is your favorite thing you enjoy doing? Do you choose to do something because you love to do it, or do you chose to do something because you dislike it? When people are doing things they love to do they develop a strong passion for the activity they are doing. Passion is what drives you to work so hard for the thing you love. The Oxford English Dictionary defines passion as “an intense desire or enthusiasm for something.” Passion will drive you to be the best you can be at whatever you are doing.
Throughout my schooling I have always made the effort to go beyond the classroom by being involved with service. Moreover, by committing myself to service I learned that I have a passion for improving the way of life for others. With this I tested myself by frequently volunteering at a nursing home where I explored the gifts of health care. At the retirement home, I had the ability to make an impact by providing aid and joy to the residents. By undergoing service at the nursing home I discovered that I truly desire to strive in a health care profession. The experience I had in service to the elderly was humbling and made me want to pursue a profession where I could be placed in a position where I could directly promote human health and
When analyzing a written text there are a couple of things to look at. Does the author validate what they are writing? This question can be asked in order to figure out the different qualities of the essay itself. How does the author relay the massage? This is another question that can be asked from this analysis. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. explains his message very clearly in his text, The World House. Dr. King provides a lot of information to back his ideas and main thesis. He uses examples when he describes what he wants you to know. He is able to relay his message to the proper audience, which happens to be everyone in the world, but specifically to the African American people when he wrote the piece. He is able to set the tone and keep it from the beginning to the end. Dr. King is able to use audience, tone and language to relay his message.
Being immortal; that just sounds like science fiction, and totally surreal. Isn’t it interesting, books, even words on paper, can last longer than a human life. It is one way we can pass down our legacy. And hopefully the younger generation will be able to learn from our mistakes. But, that would mean, we’d have to understand how to communicate effectively through our writing. Sadly, putting the ABC’s together to form words, is slightly more difficult than it seems. Unfortunately for me, writing isn’t my passion, rather it feels more of a chore, so I am unsure whether I effectively express myself to others. Even if it is just another task to check off, on my overpacked to-do list, I know I’d be able to enjoy it more if it is related to something
I am a lot of things to a lot of different people - it just depends on who’s answering the question. My parents would say that I’m a “unique and caring young lady who’s going to do great things.” My friends would say I’m “so smart… so much smarter than (said friend.)” My master karate instructor would even say that I’m “a bright, strong-willed, leader and role model to all.” They’re all very kind and relative comments to who I am. In reality, though, I can never truly believe these things - they just don’t encompass me the way I see myself when I look at myself in the mirror every morning.
Pursuing your passions offers many benefits. The list above is by no means exhaustive. The important point to take away though is that the link between passion, happiness and fulfillment is clear. We all strive to achieve happiness and fulfilment in life. Engaging in activities we feel passionate about will absolutely lead us towards that Promised Land.
Passion is defined as “a strong and barely controllable emotion.” It is what gives us motivation and a purpose. With all the division and turmoil in our country and in our world, one of my passions is to reach those that the world has given up on.
Before this I was 16 and had no idea where I wanted to go in my life. With graduation approaching the pressure to decide on a career was getting greater and greater. I always felt in my heart that I needed to do something that would have a positive impact on other people and not just myself, and that I needed to use what God has blessed me with to help people. Being in that environment and around all those sick children made me feel something that I had never felt before. I felt a sense of compassion, inspiration, and a desire to change someone's life by loving and caring for them when they can’t care for themselves, like the nurses did for those patients. Little
Passion can be used as a path to destruction or a path to life. When it is left unregulated it has a tendency to destroy everything around it in its need to achieve what it desires. Acting on our desires can increase or decrease as we age depending on how we restrict our passions. Yet if we are moral or religious those guidelines set can be used as guidelines and regulations on our passions. They inform us when it is correct to be passionate about something, and they tell us when we must let something go of our passions for our sake and others. In the end our passion does not rule us unless we allow it to.
