I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old. I remember my first dance class was ballet, and it was mostly just us girls running around in our cute little tutus and pink tights, but most importantly, it was the foundation of where I am now with dancing, and it was where my love and passion for it all started. I was born in Scottsdale, Arizona which is where my first dance classes were, then when I was about 5 my whole family moved over to Kona, Hawaii, the big island of course where I took on a different style of dance, the hula. I went through some bumps in the road, but I'm glad I did because it has made me the person I am today and I love who I have become. The reason I'm bringing this up is because the person who really helped me grow as a person my freshman year was Amanda McGreal, she was head captain of team and is still my role model till this day. She took me under her wing and I learned so much responsibility and respect from her. She showed me everything, and helped me to prepare to follow in her footsteps of being captain and also being the stage manager for jazz show. During tryouts for captain last year I was in Hawaii for vacation so i had to do all my captain tryouts over FaceTime or video. I was extremely determined, I had my coach send in videos of the workouts I was missing and I would send in a video of me doing them to the team to show how much I was willing to do and that I wanted to work hard for the captain position. A few days later I got a FaceTime call from the girls at practice 5 am hawaii time calling to tell me that I got head captain of jv, and it was probably one of the best things that had ever happened to me. I was a proud captain the whole year and continue to be proud of all the girls.
