Everything changed when I was 6 ½. My family has been through many changes. We were plucked from our home in Živinice, Bosnia and transported to a small crowded apartment in Orsoy, Germany. Bojan Hadzic was born on March 1986 in Tuzla, Bosnia. Growing up, Bojan was raised by his grandmother whilst his father worked as a Sport Teacher and his mother - a doctor. …years after Bojan was born his little brother was born and together as a family they grew up in a small village in Živinice, Bosnia and lived a good life. When Bojan was about 6 ½ his family moved to Germany 3 months before the horrific Bosnian War whilst, his father stayed behind in Bosnia with his grandparents; throughout the war in 1992. His mother and little brother became immigrants …show more content…
Bojan and his family lived in Bosley Park. Bobo just started Year 8 at Bosley Park Public School. The hardest thing for Bobo was learning and picking up a new language in a new country. In Australia they lived in a small 2 bedroom house with his parents and grandparents. With all the moving Bojan had to learn to adapt. However, after living in Australia it is finally a place he can call home. Bojan says that it was very hard for him to find new friends because people were different in cities compared to the country. He found Sydeny being such a big city a bit confronting since smaller towns such as Germany and Bosnia being more welcoming. Bojan also found many people in Australia selfish and not taking things for granted. Many of the people Bojan hanged out with were not true friends and stated how he mixed with the wrong group of people. In Australia Bojan was also doing really well in soccer. He almost made it into Michony Soccer – First Grade however he missed out on the last day of trials because of daylight savings – he ended up being an hour late. Bojan found Australian soccer much rougher than soccer in Germany so got injured frequently. As well as playing soccer, Bojan was house captain for sports. When Bojan was 15 he played for the under 19’s Soccer team however when getting towards year 10 he got over playing soccer and instead focused on school. He was
Bosnia is a country in Europe and its capital is a city called Sarajevo. Bosnia is bordered by Serbia and Croatia. In this genocide, between 1992 and 1995, the Serbians wanted to pursue genocide against the Muslims of Bosnia. After World War 1, a country called Yugoslavia was created in 1918. It was created out of the Austria-Hungary empire that lost the war and lost its land. Serbians, Croatians, Slovenes, and Bosnian Serbians and Muslims lived all in one country. The problem was the people didn't get along and each republic wanted to take control of the country. This went on until after WWII, when the Soviet Union took power and control over the country. Joseph Broz (Tito) was leader of Yugoslavia until the 6 republics separated. Then in 1992, Bosnia declared its independence from Yugoslavia. Soon after, the Bosnian
Djuro Kracha is the first of his immediate family and of the three generations of immigrants to come to this country. Like many immigrants "he hoped he was leaving behind the endless poverty and oppression which were the birthrights of a Slovak peasant"(3). Starting out with little, Kracha first worked in the rail road industry and then followed a friend to Homestead. Dubik, because it was easier to get a job with a friend already working in the mill, landed him a job working in the blast furnaces.
The second family that I interviewed was the Lyles family. Both Bro. Scotty, the father, and Mrs. Yolanda, the mother, participated in the interview and three of their children were in the room. Bro. Scotty was born and raised in Alba, Texas on the very same tree farm that he owns and operates today; he is also a deacon at our church. However, Mrs. Yolanda was born and raised in Guatemala. As a child she was raised Catholic, and is part of a large and growing family. She is one of eight children. Their family as well as anybody else in that culture celebrated their daughter’s 15th birthday with a Quinceañera which marked the transition from childhood to young womanhood. This was traditionally the first time the girls would wear make-up, nice
Since the summer of 8th grade I've been helping him support my family and keep our way of life the way it is know. My dad works a full time job for com-ed, working outside cutting trees. Often times he works over time, and during times of major storms he might work 16 hour shifts. After work he goes to his ranch and maintains animals everyday even if he is totally exhausted. My dad maintains about 25 horses and feeds them twice a day, cleans them and gives them fresh water. I have been helping him do this since about 8th grade everyday to help take a load of his back. My dad began to do this when he lost his job about 5 to 6 years ago. He needed a way to support his family and the economy was failing, so there was no jobs. He decided to make horse stalls to maintain the horses for other people who didn't have the time or land. Maintaining the horses takes about 3-4 hours a day to
At the time he spoke no english. When his family left Croatia with one suitcase and $20 in hand. They lived for 18 months in a friend’s basement while they began rebuilding their new life in North America. His first jobs were as a newspaper deliveryman and a waiter. These early experiences in customer serivce taught him the ins and outs of
It was a beautiful, sunny day in South Florida. I was six years old, playing by the pool with my new puppy. I loved swimming in the pool almost every day after school. I also enjoyed going out on our boat after school or crossing the street and going to the beach. My father came home one evening with some interesting news. Now, I do not remember exactly how I felt about the news at that time, but it seemed like I did not mind that much. He had announced that we were going to move back to my birth country, Belgium. I had been living in Florida for five years and it was basically all I had known so I did not know what to expect. I had to live with my mom at first, and then my sister would join us after she graduated high school and my father finished settling things. I remember most of my earlier childhood by watching some old videos of me playing by the pool and dancing in the living room. It seemed like life could not get any better. However, I was excited and impatient to experience a new lifestyle. I realized that I could start a whole new life, make new friends and learn a new language. Belgium was not as sunny as South Florida but it has much better food and family oriented activities. Geographic mobility can have many positive effects on younger children, such as learning new languages, being more outgoing, and more family oriented; therefore, parents should not be afraid to move around and experience new cultures.
African legacy, history of slavery and discrimination, and the victim system are key factors that have shaped and molded American Americans.
My family decided to move from Mexico to the United States of America when I was just 14 years old, my family and especially me, suffered cultural and identity crisis. A whole different culture, unused language to learn and economical obstacles to overcome at a young age. Today in society.
For this interview I have interviewed my Grandmother from my mother’s side of the family. Her name is Ameku Miichi, age seventy-five and she is a full Japanese citizen who spent most of her life in her homeland in Ishigaki Island a commercial hub of the Yaeyama Islands, in Japan’s southwestern Okinawa Prefecture. Who will be giving background of of our family ancestry and how they became to be and her life being born in the midst of the Second World War. I asked my friend mother there that I wanted to know about our family ancestry and her life she replied with “I only remember from when how my parents meet is that okay?” (Mei).
Have you ever had to move somewhere completely different at a young age? Perhaps somewhere you didn’t even know existed? As a
When I decided to interview my mom I took a different approach to family history. My interview with my mom gave me insight to an entirely new way of thinking about what family history consists of. She recorded a baby book and so much more from my childhood. She felt it was important to record the monumental moments in my childhood so she could share them with me later on and so I could share these moments with my children and so on.
Family can be defined as a group consisting of parents and children living together. The role of the family is to help meet the basic human needs of society (Harris, 2008). The family is the social system and the larger biological context within which medical problems arise and are controlled overtime; therefore knowledge of the family can be significant for understanding the aetiology of the disease and the interventions to manage the disease (Harris, 2008). This essay will discuss about family assessment, the importance of family assessment and its features, the strength and limitations of the family assessment tools and also the role of the nurse to help meet the basic human needs of families. Family assessment is a systematic process of gathering information about a certain family, it aims for a full understanding and a primary view of a family and also it helps to identify the meeds of families with multiple needs (De Bruyn, 2005).
Being passionate with helping families in need can be a challenge for most, however, it is not a challenge for me. Through my extensive personal experiences in the workforce and the time I have dedicated to philanthropic organizations that help families, I have an unbreakable determination to tackle complex family situations. Since the beginning of my journey to becoming a family lawyer, I believe I have two of the greatest traits working in my favor; being a strong female raised in a family of solid values and being African-American.
I moved from Vietnam to the United States when I was four months old. Another change is family dynamics. My parents got a final divorce when I was five years old in June of 2006. My mom and I went to go live with my grandmother after that happened. I also moved houses frequently as a child.
Growing up in a large family has impacted my view on what a family should be like and what kind of stressors and strength can be met when living with several children. When approaching this topic of living as a large family, most of my thoughts on it are positive, and the strength of having several siblings can overcome the stressors the family might have. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the family strength and stressors within a family with several children. This paper will introduce and explain some of the advantages and disadvantages a family with several children might encounter.
