My Epistemological Worldview Essay

In today’s world, we all have different views of how we observe and see the world. Some people perceive the world through the philosophical eye, and others see the world through their faith and religious positions. The topics that will be discussed in this paper will be an explanation of my epistemological stance and where my roots originated, an exposition of my view and the textbooks view on reality and freedom, a discussion on where God is placed in my world and life, an account on how I make acceptable and appropriate ethical choices, an investigation on my greatest influencers in my life, an expository on how I observe life and my purpose in life, and an overview on how this class has assisted me in life. The basis for this paper is to expound on my positions within the parameters of Philosophy and the knowledge that I have been ascertained and explored throughout this introductory course. My epistemological origination stems from my faith in God and studies in the Bible. I have positioned myself epistemologically as a relative rationalist. To argue my place as a relative rationalist, I will be using Lawhead to demonstrate my position. I altruistically respond to others needs with grave concern before my own. Whenever I see someone in need of my help, I throw all of my desires aside and give them assistance they require before my own needs. Lawhead describes me to perfection, “In the golden rule of Jesus of Nazareth, we read the complete spirit of the ethics of utility. ‘To do as you would be done by,’ and ‘to love you neighbor as yourself,’ constitutes the ideal perfection of utilitarian morality” (Lawhead 470).
