Explain the meaning and significance of the following statement by Gutiérrez, and demonstrate its relationship to a comprehensive view of liberation, (including the danger of reductionism), and the importance of the preferential option for the poor : "The present life is considered to be a test: one’s actions are judged and assessed in relation to the transcendent end. The perspective here is moralistic, and the spirituality is one of flight from this world" (p. 84). The magnificence of human life is so transparent because it is sacred seeing that it is an act of creation. Life diverts an inimitable place in creation since it was created in the image of God. The protection of human life is the conclusive value, a support of beliefs and ethics and the basis of all morals and principles. Life should be looked upon with respect to where one is in time, because time moves on. As time moves on, one encounters the problem of which path to follow. In the stages of early life, youth are taught about the choices they should and should not make. So even as a young child, one knows that their actions will be judged and one should be able to tell right from wrong. God has presented humanity with life and throughout life one must realize that life’s actions should be analyzed, understanding of liberation should be expressed, and the better opportunity for the poor should be accentuated. Independently, as one grows in age, their actions should make a daily reflection to God. In “A Theology of Liberation,” Gutierrez avers that, "The present life is considered to be a test: one’s actions are judged and assessed in relation to the transcendent end. The perspective here is moralistic, and the spirituality is one of flight from this world... ... middle of paper ... ...what one does. God hopes that everyone lives a good, generous life. Everyone should perform actions from their hearts, because if one is forced to do something it is not love. For instance, throughout life one is taught that being there for the other or a friend is something that is out of love and is the significance of friendship. Everyone should be friends with the poor, get to know them, and lend a helping hand. In conclusion, humankind is blessed with life as God created it. One must reflect on their actions throughout life because one will be judged by God in the next life, one must see the importance of gasping liberation, and one must have a loving and open heart when helping the poor. Life should be lived to its fullest because once time is lost, it cannot be regained; life needs to be appreciated. Works Cited Theology of Liberation by Gutierrez
“Religion Gives Meaning to Life” outlines how life is given meaning through theistic religion in Louis Pojman’s opinion. In this short reading, autonomy is described as in the meaning of freedom or self-governing and argues how it is necessary for ideal existence. By being honest and faithful with ourselves shows how we can increase our autonomy. “I think most of us would be willing to give up a few autonotoms for an enormous increase in happiness” (553) shows our willingness to practice good purpose.
The topic on abortion gives a moral objection to a fetus’ right to life, while it is questionable whether or not the death of the unborn child is unjustifiable. Although it may seem as if abortion puts women in situations where it is necessary to save the mother’s life in some situations. Until both pro-life and pro-choice can come to a conclusion and an agreement, this debates on abortion will continually go on. Both sides need to be able to draw the line somewhere and balance each other’s weakness.
St. Thomas concludes this section by reiterating a foundational component of Catholicism, namely, that man’s ultimate happiness is not to be found in an earthly city, but transcends the political community. This prudential doctrine clarifies and concretizes the positive and substantial, albeit limited, aim of the ruler, since “if this end could be attained by the power of human nature, then it would be necessary that the office of a king would have to include the direction of men to it. We are supposing that he is called king, to whom the supreme power of governing in human affairs is entrusted.” Man’s supernatural end is incapable of being fully actualized in this life; it can only be brought about by divine government and the outpouring of grace, which properly belongs to the ministry of the Catholic Church and its priests. In light of this integration and crucial distinction between the intrinsic and extrinsic finality of the polis, articulating the precise content of the common good and man’s ultimate happiness beyond this life, St. Thomas can provide concrete guidance for how the king can inculcate genuine virtue in his subjects.
Liberation Theology for Armchair Theologians overall can be included in the genre of Theology. The fact that the genre is in fact Theology transpires into the argument of this book. In order to convey his argument De La Torre, gave a historical background in the beginning of the book to help all readers understand exactly what liberation theology is. From the roots of the Spanish converting the Indians into “civilized” people in order to gain power, economic wealth and to be able to ex...
Citizens here show their courage and do not fear the consequence. The motive here is not fear of the end result being their persecution, but for the good and defense of their self. One must yearn for the honor in the process of being unyielding in a belief. In order for this, one must be the inferior and proceed not because of shame but because of trepidation. (51)
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson-

However, this essay is going to explain and try to comprehend the meaning of the sanctity of human life as a whole and how humanity has fallen from grace and reaching for redemption.
Theme in “Defender of the Faith” can be interpreted in many varying ways, some of which are life-long lessons and others to the relation between faith and the individual.
In order to have a life lived with moral and meaningful purpose, it is not a condition to live life with faith. To say one’s life is a life lived to faith involves three things. It involves the resignation of free choice in the sense that you believe that your god is the master of your universe. It also requires a belief and hope of an eternal life that is completely controlled by ones God. And finally, it requires the believer to accept the role of the child of God. These mandates outline a life of faith; which ultimately leads to an existential nihilism, which argues that life is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

...f our acts do not have an impact on the ultimate goal. In regard to this response, I would say that it is in our nature to do what makes us happy, whether it is true happiness through virtues or happiness from material things. Either way one is going to do whatever they can to obtain what pleasures their soul. Our acts shape and mold us whether we know it or not. Our acts and decisions shape us, which can change our goals as well. If we perform virtuous acts then our goal will be virtuous which is why all of our acts should be aimed towards that goal.

The Sacredness of Life 'Life is sacred and nobody has the right to take it.'
God’s plan for how human beings are to live is fully revealed in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus’s response two thousand years ago to the rich young man is still important to the shaping of our lives today. We should continue to strive to do good. If we do good, then the world will have less and less evil and corruption present. We should also follow the 10 Commandments, as they are the basic rules for living out our lives as humans. They teach us to love one another and ourselves. Everything will come naturally, if we keep God 1st in our lives. According to the Splendor of Truth, we must use our freedom maturely and we should use God’s gift of grace effectively in order to be committed to the Commandments. Jesus also advises that we give to those who have less than us. God created us to live in unity and enjoy the world. He created us fairly and in order to regain this lost equality, we should give those who don’t have food, clothing, or shelter, the necessities they need.
