1. For me personally, education is a very difficult topic to speak about. It's not that I don't enjoy speaking about it because I do, but that I have some trouble thinking about what I want to accomplish. I know for a fact that I don't want to limit myself to just one thing in life which is why I want to study in more than one thing. I am just not sure what these things may be due to not knowing what are my strengths/weaknesses are. As of right now, I am certain that my educational goal is to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, except choosing the road that will lead me to become a CPA.instead of a regular accountant. I'm not quite sure what job I want as a CPA. One thing I do know is that with a CPA, I will have more opportunities. …show more content…
The role of education is a crucial part in one's life because it basically determines where in society you stand. I believe most people work so hard to get a higher degree than high school because it gives us the opportunity to get higher paying jobs. I'm not sure about why some pay more than others, but in my opinion, I pay this money because I know in the end it will pay off. It could be possible that I could earn back what I payed for in education plus more in a shorter period than I would if I was earning less without a college degree. Some people, including myself, want to a higher college degree because it will help us get more opportunities in life and receive better wages to buy luxuries we desire. To me, I have many plans that I believe could only be accomplished if I earn this college degree and work hard. For example, if I want my dream home plus my dream car or so, I can obtain it by either working hard and obtaining a higher education to get a higher pay or be lucky enough to win the lottery. To be realistic, I have less of a chance in obtaining these things if I wait for the money to be handed to me by a simple lottery. Instead of waiting, I might as well work hard, not waste my time and become determined to reach my
The desire to further education is essential because it expands the mind of a person. College is implemented to attend a school for four plus years and hope to get a job after graduation. Without higher education there would not be any scientist or engineers in the world to continue to make society run smoother. However, it’s actually more than that, it creates long term friendship and builds independence.
Education always has a different purpose for each generation. For example, in the Ancient Century people used to think that education was spiritual. However, in 1661 many people did not think that education was what they really needed, because at that time people who knew how to work physically rather than mentally got money. After some time, a society came to the conclusion that education is a power that can control and make people more disciplined. Nowadays people go to college just because they think that it is the way to get a good job and money to better live in a future. At this point, there is a great opportunity to be successful if you are well-educated. Another issue is how good education is
Why is college education important, it opens many doors and provides many advantages and opportunities. I believe without a college education you can only really get a basic job. College education to me holds the key to a successful career and a brighter future. A college education is like a very lucrative investment. This takes a myriad of hours, precise planning and sacrifice. Many people question whether college is really worth the money or the time. However, the reasons to invest in higher education extend past just the financial. People who question if college won’t be beneficial to them, don’t have clarity, I believe without a doubt if I work hard, and connect with the right people I and or anyone will find success in their own respective field.
The path I have taken toward obtaining my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management, and Economics, with a concentration in Marketing, has been different than I expected when I first started college. I started at Brooklyn College at 17-years-old and frankly, I wasn’t ready for it. I struggled to balance an awkward schedule of classes and inconsistent study habits. I never felt completely comfortable there and after two years of performing poorly, I enrolled at Kingsborough Community College. I viewed it as a new start and seized the opportunity. I decided to major in Business Administration; I made the Dean’s List, and saw my grades improve dramatically. After completing 74 total credits, I decided I was ready to return to a four-year-college. I initially considered returning to Brooklyn College but at this time my grandmother had become ill. I applied to the College of Staten Island which was near her home and would make it possible for me to help her out with whatever she needed and attend school locally. This worked out great for my first semester. I carried a 3.47 GPA and decided to major in Business, with a concentration in Marketing. At this time, I was working part-time while in school. But due to certain circumstances, I was forced to obtain a full-time job in addition to other part-time commitment. This made it very difficult for me to enroll in classes as most of the upper-level marketing classes that I needed for graduation were only offered during the day when I would now be working. I enrolled in night and weekend classes for the next two semesters but my grades began to suffer. In the last semester I tried to register at the College of Staten Island, I couldn’t fit the courses I needed into my ever-growing w...
One of the many reasons why getting a college education is worth it is because there are more job opportunities. Most job now a days don't just require a high school diploma. A lot of employers are looking for people with degrees because they have more knowledge and will get the job done right. Between December 2007 and January 2010, jobs that required some one with a college degree grew by 187,000. Georgetown University calculated that by 2018 nearly 63% of jobs will require at least some college education. Finding a decent job is tough now a days, but having a college degree or at least some college education will make it a little easier. A degree may not necessarily guarantee a good high paying job, but the chances are a lot better with one (procon.org).
The first reason that a college education is necessary is because it can help people to get a better quality of life in the future, especially for people who were raised from poor families. Ever since I was a little kid, I was always being told by many people that “knowledge can change your destiny. It makes you not only rich in life, but also enrich you as a productive person.” In my understanding, college education opens a door that can eventually change people’s future as long as they will willing to work hard. Hence, I always had the dream about being like a grown-up to go to college and ge...
It is easy to think college is not worth the cost to become better, but getting educated molds a better person, and creates happier people in the future and occasionally they become better in health (Leonhardt 25 ). Becoming a better and happier person is pleasing for everyone. Even former President Obama says “‘Education helps us be better people. It helps us be better citizens. You came to college to learn about the world and to engage with new ideas and to discover the things you're passionate about -- and maybe have a little fun’” (Procon.org). Learning and engaging in everything is a skill everyone should have, so like he said we should go to college to be able to do that. Additionally, education shows people to develop more intellectual skill and become more responsible (Pew Social and Demographic Trends). Thus said, being educated and smart is something everyone can do and college helps with that. Likewise, college can encourage someone to be more educated and happier. Reaching the point of happier and more educated is worth the cost.
One might even be closer to their future family because of college. A college education is valuable because one will have more job opportunities, greater wealth, and will be more educated. To begin with, a college education will help one get a job easier. According to the article“New School Year, Old Story: Education Pays” “...at 2.4%, the unemployment rate for workers with a professional degree was also the lowest of education level.” Employers will want to hire college graduates more.
Throughout life, I have been trained to believe that I will never achieve or attain any of my dreams without an education, and that happens to be very true but who 's to say that I enjoyed the process I had to endure to obtain the knowledge I have so far. I like the fact that I was brought up in a household where having the best grades was mandatory, but throughout my schooling, I cannot say that I enjoyed the majority of the classes I attended over the years. Education is important because it allows people to form opinions and allows them to build life skills. Without schooling, people will not be able to read, write, calculate, or communicate. Education helps us understand the world that we are in with things like history, philosophy, and
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be
We are told to “go to college” by family, media, and teachers, but we are never given an explanation on why it’s important for us to get a higher education. The importance of higher education is so we can obtain a career that can support our needs and wants. It’s also important because it gives you an advantage when trying to get a job. Employers require a higher form of education, which is necessary for our society to advance. There aren’t many jobs that accept people with a high school diploma as their highest form of education. Employers want people that know what they’re doing, and so does our society. In order for people to go into the career field they want, they need to go to college to learn everything that comes with that career. Without a college degree, it would be close to impossible to get a high paying job. So, is it worth going to college even though it’s pricey? Well, if we consider everything we gain from college and the experience, yes it is.
During high school my teachers lectured my classmates and I on goal making. I specifically remember my health teacher using the SMART method; this says goals must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. Even though I had a great resource to make smart goals for myself, I never took the time to construct a game plan. Entering the vast new world of college, I want to improve myself by keeping several goals in mind each month, week, and day. My process starts by creating intellectual, psycho-emotional, physical, and social goals to work towards in my four years of college.
Education has played an important role in my life by giving me the opportunity to learn and acquire new skills that can be applied to social situations. In my opinion, education has become important in society because more students decide to continue pursuing a higher education after completing high school. Higher education opens the gates of success to those who complete a college degree and technical school education. Those who pursue a higher education or attend a technical school believe that pursuing an education can provide them with more opportunities for growth and career success.
Education is a very powerful key to success in modern day American society. More often than not, a person will not be able to find a decent job unless they have graduated from a reputable college with a degree. Because of this change in society, it has brought a lot of pressure by parents for their child to graduate and get a degree. A lot of those who graduate with a degree are not always the best candidate for the job, and even with the degree, they are not even always guaranteed a job. But personally, getting an education shouldn’t be as big of a deal, as it is now. Back in the day, most people did not go to college, none the less graduated from high school; yet they still made it through and learned lots of things from their jobs that they acquired.
Higher education is advisable and valuable because there are undeniable benefits from the moment a person starts college. It is obvious from in salaries of both sides that college is a worthwhile investment. There is no place like college to grow and discover yourself. Also, higher education creates undeniable opportunities for all who participate. Seeking out higher education is something all people, no matter the socioeconomic background or career plans, should advance in.
