Education has played an important role in my life by giving me the opportunity to learn and acquire new skills that can be applied to social situations. In my opinion, education has become important in society because more students decide to continue pursuing a higher education after completing high school. Higher education opens the gates of success to those who complete a college degree and technical school education. Those who pursue a higher education or attend a technical school believe that pursuing an education can provide them with more opportunities for growth and career success. In addition, cultural issues have played an important role in education among first-generation college students. First-generation college students are the first in their families to attend college in hopes of pursuing a degree. For instance, some school districts do not have sufficient school funding in order to support and provide their students with important resources such as technology and science labs that can potentially help students succeed. An example of this idea is Measure H which was a measure that supported schools in the North Monterey County School District in order to provide building better classrooms, and technology and science labs for students to improve learning experiences. The community of Moss Landing and Castroville voted, but the measure did not pass. Most of the residents of the school district believed that the money was not necessary for schools.
