Complications in American School System Education always has a different purpose for each generation. For example, in the Ancient Century people used to think that education was spiritual. However, in 1661 many people did not think that education was what they really needed, because at that time people who knew how to work physically rather than mentally got money. After some time, a society came to the conclusion that education is a power that can control and make people more disciplined. Nowadays people go to college just because they think that it is the way to get a good job and money to better live in a future. In the essay “Still Separate, Still Unequal,” the author gives an example about a teacher in California, who wanted to bring a pumpkin to a class on Halloween, but she could not because it was not accepted by California school standards ( Kozol 212). The teachers cannot teach how they want and that is the reason why students find their classes boring. Children at the school age are interested to get a new information and knowledge by unusual way, for example by games, but because of the typical school programs they get boring and tired very fast, which makes them do not pay attention on a teacher carefully. That is why it became more often when children try to find something interesting outside of school, which could be video games or even drug addiction. It is not their faults, because these children just wanted to find something more interesting than typical school programs. As a consequence, there is high dropout rate in U.S. high schools, which has not positive effect for the whole American nation.
