A workplace is the location where you spend most of your adult life at to make a living. While some people love their job and wake up excited for a new day, others dread the long boring hours where they sit cramped at a desk, counting down the hours until they can go home. For those who love what they do, the excitement comes with the job, however for those who need an extra boost throughout the workday, music could be a great solution. Music brings hope, enthusiasm, and positivity into those days where all you truly want to do is kickback and do nothing. Music should be allowed to be listened to during work hours because it is therapeutic, boosts productivity, and it is an economic advantage for the employer.

The employer is paying for labor, nothing more. As long as the music doesn't affect safety, workplace rights,or efficient collaboration, it should be allowed. The employer doesn't own your time, sensory experience, or your right to happiness. Stress in the workplace can reduce productivity and psychological well being. This is a financial impact on budgets. Listening to music at work can ultimately help organizations and companies save money on working days lost due to stress related illness. According to a mental health charity (Mind), stress at work costs the economy one hundred billion dollars each year. This results from poor working conditions, conflicting expectations, and personal factors such as anxiety. For example, an introvert may find a shared working environment difficult to cope with. Self selected music could reduce interruptions and anxiety for those type of people. The workplace is a very sensitive place, especially in businesses. The workers need to be motivated by their bosses to do work properly. Otherwise, they get demoralized. The managers should not be harsh in correcting mistakes since mistakes are bound to happen in any scenario. The manager should have a democratic way of communicating with the employees, this way they become free and the job environment becomes conducive. It is evident in job-friendly environments that jobs are well done and profits increase.
Employees want that from their employers. They want to be recognized for the work they put in and it makes them feel great when someone in the higher ups notices what they have done. Those are the type of employees that will come in and do a great job and will stay there. They will tell their friends and family how great their company is and before you know it, friends and family of that worker are shopping there and trying to get employed there. If you keep your employees happy, they will have a better work performance also. They will do their jobs without someone having to stand over their shoulders telling them what to do. Employee will show up to do their job instead of calling out sick because they simply can’t stand to go in and work in a poor work environment. Employees that know their job don’t need someone standing over them telling them what to do. I do agree with Tracy Mullins statement in her article Hiring the Very Best stating “While I think retailers should be hiring the best people possible, and treating them well, it may not always be best to leave them alone”. The work load cannot be placed all on one person and you can still hire the best people possible to come in and help during busy times of the year. People need and want jobs that they are going to love to do in order to be satisfied and remain loyal to the company that they work for. They will have better job performance and remain loyal while be completely happy and satisfied. Jobs that pay more money is another benefit for the employee and that is what they search for too. Employees want to be compensated for their skills. They want to work with an organization that provides good health insurance as well as a good retirement plan. A company that knows how to treat their employees as good as their customers will keep these employees and they will remain loyal to
Should it be Allowed? Suppose an artist or band sold their music to a record label or landed a deal with a company. Should this be allowed? Artists’ music should be used in advertising. It offers smaller artists a chance for their music to get heard by a wider audience and it is accepted nowadays for bands and artists to put their music in commercials or promote products for sponsors.
Music therapy is not just for group or one on one sessions though. Music can also be used in the workplace as a calming therapy. Music that is played in the workplace can have various benefits. In undemanding or repetitive jobs it can improve the overall productivity. Music being played where physically ambitious jobs it can improve performance of employees. Music being used in the workplace as a soothing therapy can also improve morale. Morale is the confidence, enthusiasm and discipline of a person or group at a particular time. Being more prepared in the morning If I could solve one problem in the world, I would solve my problem of not being prepared in the morning. Every morning for school I practically miss the bus because I'm not ready yet. I've been. My parents get very upset with me being so unprepared because I miss the bus and they have to drive me to school.

Music could let people’s mind feel calm as well relax. Listening to music can have a very relaxing effect on people’s minds and bodies, especially slow or quiet classical music. This type of music can have a beneficial effect on dealing stress. Relaxing is a way most important to settle down the emotion; when emotion calm and relax, stress will be gone away. As music can absorb our attention, it acts as a distraction at the same time it helps to explore emotions. This means it can be a great aid to meditation, helping to prevent the mind wandering. Greenberg Jerrold give example of how music make one clam, “When people are still baby in their mother’s womb, the heart beat always affect them through which it has bring calm and protective to them.” (2004, p.199). Hence, a sound, a rhythm, a beat has naturally direct send message to one’s mind that bring him calm, relax, safe just like a baby under protection of a mother.

People need to appreciate that they can wake up in the morning to arrive at their job, or even at school.
And I’m not talking about any morning people, but people who have a similar availability than me.
