Recommended: A visit to the museum
I decided to take a trip to the FSU art museum. The museum is filled with every art medium possible. I viewed ceramics, sculpture, photography, paintings, drawings, contemporary art and mixed medium pieces. There are a spectrum of exhibits going on this semester, I would say around ten. I observed a piece titled “Conspire: Collaboration, Cooperation, Collection” by Molly Reilly. The art work was a wall installation which was tethered with lines, books, and paper like birds. The art work was rather interesting and colorful.
The other art work was by The artwork I looked at was titled Liminal by Lisa Beth Robinson and Kristin Thielking and they created a piece made out of kiln fused glass with printed enamels. This artwork is rather large and was showcased on the wall. In the description they

The themes listed in the museum were very abstract, most of the pieces exhibited were nonfigurative, each piece had a story within the materials used. As an employee of the museum, I would consider splitting the five groups into the art mediums of mixed media, photography, sculpture, painting and drawings. Within those groups I would equally divide two artworks per group.
The first group is mixed media. The medium mixed media is referred to the use of a variety of different mediums, concepts and materials used in one art work. I would allow for these to have enough wall piece, mixed media piece to tend to be wall to floor installations and are rather large such as the artwork I described in the beginning.
The paintings would obviously be hung on the walls, specifically in the entrance and towards the center and back walls. The paintings I viewed were mostly of nature and portraits. I would include spotlights on the paintings or any art work on the wall to add more brightness and overall professional appearance to
On My visit to the Hunter Museum I chose the piece of art that I felt best related to. I picked the piece of art Pullman, by Hung Liu, because I loved the way they worked together to accomplish a mission. Pullman is a 2 dimensional wall piece created by Hung Liu in 2004, and was later purchased by the Hunter Museum in 2009. Pullman is A 66x132 inch oil on canvas, colored paining and is displayed on the wall in the museum. There is a wall text about the piece that can be found next to the painting. The painting is hard to define from close distance, but the farther you stand away the colors and textures come together. The paining is on a wall by itself, and is truly a breathtaking piece. We often take for granted the luxuries we have in the United States.
The display that I will be focusing my research on is called First Californians. The display encompasses many of the different artifacts pertaining to the first Native Americans of California. All artifacts are displayed behind glass cases with brief description of how the items were used. Artifacts from many tribes are displayed. However, the two most prominent tribes displayed are the Chumash Natives of the Northern Channel Islands and the Gabreilino (Tongva) natives of modern day LA and Orange County Regions. In the center of the room lay...
The facility was smaller than expected by many on the tour group. However, the tour guide had a very nice explanation to each of the artworks. By visiting the museum to gain the aesthetic experience it has open many people point of views to how they can express his or her self through art.
The second exhibit entitled Painting with Fire: Works by Betsy Eby. I didn’t spend much time looking at these pieces. Although uniquely done, with heated colored beeswax, and inspired by music, all the artworks looked almost the same. I understand she was inspired by music, however, it looks as if she was listening to the same song on every piece. I wasn’t very impressed with this exhibit.
My first experience at the museum was a good one. I had so much fun even after we were done with the Norton-Simon. Being a business major, I did not know that art could speak to me as it did. It has not influenced me so much as to change my major, but it did open my eyes to a whole new world. Now when I look at art, I do not just see a pretty picture, but what the artist is actually trying to say.
The exhibit that I viewed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art was one about European Art between the years 1100-1500. This was a series of paintings, sculptures, architecture, and tapestry of the Medieval and Early Renaissance as well as objects from the Middle East. This exhibit was an important part of the history of the Philadelphia Museum of Art because for the first time, Italian, Spanish, and Northern European paintings from the John G. Johnson collection were shown. It gave me a good idea of what the paintings were like in these four centuries and reflected ideas of both the east and the west.
The Tampa Museum of Art was not always the same museum that we see today. It went through multiple stages throughout the years. The works vary, creating a large spectrum from the old to the new. The social angles change with the exhibits in the museum, combining to create the diversity we see today. Visiting this museum in person helped me to appreciate it even more than I would have thought possible. Observing and analyzing the other visitors helped me to understand the museum’s impact on the community more than I would have been able to just by reading about it. This museum is much different from others than I have visited.
One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
The location of the artwork was located on the 2nd floor of the museum. It was kind of difficult to find as it is not listed on the map. The painting is framed and placed near the corner of the entrance to another room. The artwork measured about 3 feet by 6 feet. It is placed near paintings of portraits. This was one of the reasons why I choose this painting. As soon as I walked into the room, it caught my eyes right away as not only was it different from the other artwork in the room but it also consisted of many colors in the paintings. It was also one of the biggest artwork in the room. The room itself was fairly large. There was enough lighting to get a good look at the art work but much dimmer compare to the other rooms. The lighting fits perfectly with the period. Every artwork in the room was spread out evenly with enough spacing between them. There were about 2 artworks near the center of the room but most of the artworks were hung up against the wall.

For my museum visitation, I chose the Lowes Art Museum at the University of Miami. The reason I favored this museum was firstly I work for the University of Miami so the admission is free and also they are currently exhibiting Renaissance and Baroque period art which is my favorite. I was not sure what to expect, I have visited famous museums such as Museo Nacional Del Prado in Spain, MoMA is New York, and the National Gallery of Art is Washington, DC, therefore, my expectations weren't very high. I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity and historical pieces exhibited at the Lowes. The pieces that drew my attention the most were Christ and the Penitents, Portrait head Mummy Mask, The Whore of Babylon from the Apocalypse, and the Adoration of the Magi.
My first reaction was of surprise when I enter the museum and everything was so quiet. I did not expected the museum to be that quiet, and that is because of the last experiences I have at museums. Another think that surprise me, is that with the knowledge that I have acquired in class and with the description that the image provide at the museum, I was able to understand the pieces of art or at least to relate my thoughts to the author’s thoughts. However, it was still hard for myself to relate my thoughts to some author’s ideas. In the other hand, I did not expect to be looking to many different types of art.
It was made of photomechanical reproductions, wallpaper, gouache, and mixed media on paper on fingerboard. The painting significantly caught my eye as soon as a saw it. It was big and full of lively
The inside of the museum was intense because you walk into see two huge dinosaur structures in the front. There were also many entrances to different exhibits on top the entrances were enormous murals depicting various things. The murals showed all of the cultures around the world. All of the cultures are able to mix in with each other. For instance, the mural on top of the Asian Peoples exhibit was showing the many different Asian cultures such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese mixing into one huge mural. There was the mural on top of the African Peoples exhibit that included prominent animals such as, lions and elephants. And lastly for the South American Peoples exhibit that included Theodore Roosevelt in the mural signifying the creation of the Panama Canal. I like how the murals all had the same color schemes. These murals showed the impact of various historical events having an im...
