Scar or Scare My family and I were all headed down to a Mt Shasta campsite. We always went there in the summer with a close family friend. ‘’Are we almost there?’’ my sister yells from the back seat, ‘’ Nope’’ my mom replies. The car ride was always the longest but we all knew it was worth it. We arrived at the campsite ready to finally get out of the small compacted car. We unpacked everything and still had time to go hangout around the campsite before the sun went down so my brother and I went fishing while my sister and mom went down to the playground. When we got back the second family had arrived. We were so excited when we saw the campfire was lit and and next to it were a giant back of marshmallows to make s'mores. When we all gathered around the fire and we were all into our third or second s’more my dad told us he was gonna tell a story about a ghost that lived in the campsite. We all gathered close and closer to the campfire as he got deeper into the story. We could feel chills flow through out arms and legs filling us with hope he was just trying to scare us, but when we heard a loud crashing and snapping of a tree go crashing down near the river we all jumped. We all thought that tree fell because the story was true and there was some ghost that was out to get us. …show more content…
So we headed back up to camp with our flashlights tight in our hand. When we made it up we all went to bed, the parents slept in a cabin and all five kids slept in a large tent besides my little sister who begged to sleep with my mom and
One night, around 1:00 a.m., my roommates and I were sitting in the common room, and I asked the group if they knew of a compelling ghost story. My one roommate, a 20 year old from Pennsylvania, said she had heard a ghost story at the summer sleep-away camp she had attended when she was younger. She heard the story around a campfire in the woods of Camp Tonikanee, which is in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She described her story as one that the counselors would tell the campers to convince them the camp was haunted.
After returning from the first hiking trail of the day we loaded back up in the car to head to another area of the park. The drive was extremely nerve racking my mother in law
Before that night, I didn’t believe in the paranormal. Now I sure as heck do. I had been chased out of my house after a fight with my step-parents because I wasn’t doing well in school (I had dyslexia), and I had taken shelter in what seemed like a normal house. I realized what I had gotten into after the sun set. The doors were locked without a sign of anyone going near them.
It was a cool, June morning, I had my bags packed and ready to go, and just like that I was on the road to Niagara Falls! We started by getting up at five O'clock in the morning.I remember waking up to the smell of french toast, bacon, and eggs. We packed our bags in the truck, then hit the road!
It was a bright sunny day and the lake looked like glass, perfect to go water skiing. My dad, brother, and I decided to go get the boat ready for our trip. We had to get the sunscreen, refreshments, and water skis. Once we all got in the boat, we had to untie the ropes that were tied to the boat and the dock and lead the boat out of the dock without it colliding into the dock..
Quickly skimming the screen in front of me again, I was in awe. Mount Holyoke would teach me how to ride a horse. That is something I hadn’t seen while researching colleges during my junior year of high school. I was trying to find a college that was unique and quirky and once I stumbled upon Mount Holyoke, I knew I had found my home.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. It has an elevation of 29,029 feet. To hike this treacherous mountain it takes around two months. Many times the hikers can not make it all the way and give up where they can be picked up by a helicopter or have to hike back down. Leading up to this point my life has been like the climb of Mount Everest. The easiest route to the top of the mountain would be the South Col Route. Even though it is the easiest of 15, it still faces many difficulties such as: avalanches, altitude, weather exposure, etc.
Every single summer, the last two weeks of August; my family and I would go camping at Killbear Provincial Park. First time I went, I was 10 month old. I couldn’t talk yet and was just learning to crawl, but that didn’t stop my family from ending the tradition. I pretty much grew up there, all my favorite nature experiences are from camping there.
We went to New Mexico for a week to build a playground. The trip was long and hot but it was worth it. The playground was going to be built at a Manuelito Najavo Childrens Home in Gallup, New Mexico. In the middle of their dorms. We arrived at a cottage and starting unpacking, choosing rooms, and all that. Dinner came, we all took showers and went to bed.
In hiking, as in life, there are choices between success and pain, pride and safety; this is the story of one such choice. Last summer I participated in the Rayado program at Philmont Scout Ranch. The eighth day of the trek was my crew’s greatest challenge: Super Black Death, a hike of seven peaks in one day.
I 'm not sure when I 'm going to be in the library next it probably won 't be until Judy 's retirement party. I 'm leaving work that day at 2 so I should be there about 2:30ish.
The bus ride felt like eternity, but I did not mind since I made so many new friends at this camp. I sat next to Bridget, a girl I met from Florida, and we talked
Apparently the plane crashed into Mt. Everest about twenty minutes ago, I had regained consciousness about 5 minutes ago. There are only 18 or so survivors not including myself, I don’t know any of these people, not even their names.
There was absolutely nothing to do for little kids. No pool, no pond, no playground, I played in the rocks. The house you were staying in the woods of the flight of 75 stairs, so when we went up, we went up for the night. One night my mom decided that it be OK to leave us up there and join Camp for the night, she had done it a couple times before. I did up getting out of bed to go to the bathroom and when I tried to leave the bathroom the door was too heavy so I couldn't get it open, I was stuck in there for pretty long time. Haddie took advantage of that and pretty much threw everything out of her crib, and when my mom came in she said "mom I have a partay". While we were there we somehow got a hold of a new Braunfels newspaper and saw that the neighborhood we were moving into got
One of the best family trips that I have been on occurred when I was about 8 years old. My family and I were invited to go on a 4th of July camping trip to Telluride by some family friends that have 5 kids the same ages as our kids. Several other good friends were also invited to join us. We prepared our camping gear, loaded up the car and hooked up our trailer with our Polaris Ranger. The long drive to Telluride was 7 hours and it felt like it took forever because we were so excited to arrive. Even though the drive up their wasn’t fun at all, the reward was great.
