Tim Burton is an outsider creating movies about people like that and his movies having many different features. He normally doesn’t fit in; he created movies based on people who don’t fit in. He shows his distinct style through the use of background music, shot-reverse-shot, as well as, dolly tracking in his movies Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Big Fish, and Frankenweenie.
Director Burton shows background music in many of his movies, especially in Alice and Wonderland and Frankenweenie to make scenes bigger and serious. In Alice and Wonderland, Tim Burton used background music to make the scene bigger. On “Frabjous Day”, Mr. Burton wanted to make the fighting scene between Alice and the dragon bigger by adding suspenseful music. Mr. Burton also used music that was as vivid as some of the imagery during the fighting scene, because he wanted to add to the scene making it bigger and more suspenseful. He was very successful doing so because it made it so much more scary and exciting at the same time. In Frankenweenie, Director Burton used background music to make the scene more serious. In Corpse Bride, Mr. Burton used dolly tracking to follow the action of the skeletons singing about how Corpse Bride is dead. He did that because he wanted us to be able to see the skeletons singing without interruptions of camera movement. In Big Fish, Tim Burton used dolly tracking to follow the action of dad fishing and getting a ring out of the fish’s mouth. He did that because he wanted us to see him fishing and fighting the fish for the ring without interruptions of camera movement.
