In this paper I am going to be discussing my values and morals in life that helps me be successful with knowing what is right and wrong in personally and professionally everyday life. There are many things that go on in the world today and it is extremely important to have values and morals set in place. Also going to be discussing how cultural heritage has shaped my values and what ethical behaviors I see in myself.
Every day I am constantly thinking about what my next move is going to be. I analyze everything that goes on around me and I pay attention to detail. I think before I speak or act this usually keeps me on the right track and out of trouble. It is important to know what is right and wrong; this is why I believe that your childhood growing up has a lot to do with how you’re going to be in society. There are people who have a hard time knowing the difference between right and wrong such as someone that has been neglected as a child because they didn’t grow up with a parent telling them what is wrong or right. They had to figure most things out on their own so they are missing the morals and values. I knew this kid growing up where his parents were divorced and his mom was depressed and didn’t watch him at all so he pretty much did whatever he wanted to do, so when he became an adult he was stealing and catching things on fire. He knew stealing and catching things on fire was wrong but he never had anyone there that cared enough to tell him as a child growing up that this was wrong and that he was going to have to face the consequence. Needless to say he was constantly in trouble in and out of jail.

Ethical development is a lifetime of learning and from the modules I think I could benefit from learning more about the ethical codes of ethics because the career in counseling that I want to obtain this would be very helpful. I will know all of the rules of ethics so I will know what the boundaries with clients. I would want to know more about ethics because it teaches us how to cope with society in a positive manner instead of being negative. Morales and values are taught as children but ethics gives us an overview of what we are taught. Everyone should have positive people in their life to show them that life is what you make it.

A code of ethics provides a standard by which nurses conduct themselves and their practice, observing ethical obligations of the profession and providing quality care. The Code of Ethics can help us understand what our professional responsibilities are to the children in our care, to the families of the children, to co-workers, and to the community and society in general.
A code of ethics is a formal document in which is used to assist members of an organization, to know what’s ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ in the work place and applying it to their decisions. A code of ethics is a written set of rules or guidelines to help the workers and management ‘conduct’ or direct their actions with its primary values and ethical standards. A code of ethics is important because without it, employees and management wouldn’t have guidelines and the establishment would resemble a crazy house. Consider the establishment, Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts is a food establishment well-known for their famous donuts, coffee and their slogan “America runs on Dunkin”. Without a code of ethics, the industry would most likely be extremely hard to control.
When speaking about morals and ethics, every single individual will have their own opinion. Some will agree with your own, and some may not. Yet, when being a social worker it is not what your ethics and morals stand for, but it is our code. Code speaking for the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) code that we follow and stand by helping any client with any kind of circumstance.
Social science and ethics are important modules in medical education because they go beyond the technical knowledge required to be a doctor. They give medicine a more humane aspect by letting doctors understand patients as people. This would in turn improve relationships between patients and doctors, allowing medicine to become more integrated into the community, thus making it more affective.
My ethics and values are developed from my religious beliefs, my associations with professionals, and self experiences. My religion installs values such as honesty, courtesy, and determination, which determine how I treat other people. My association with professionals helps me to embrace values, such as determination, personal integrity, accountability, and excellence, which are fundamental in designing my academic and professional paths. The experiences I have encountered in life have taught me to observe and embrace many ethical values, including ambition, integrity, and responsibility, which enable me to associate well with my family and other members of the society.

There will be many times in ones educational career when they will have different viewpoints or want to break some of these obligations, its important to think about whom one talks to, who is watching, and what the consequences are.

The codes of ethics are established to help, protect, and provide guidance to each individual professional on how to act in their respective profession and create an environment where ethical behavior is practiced and observed by everyone in the profession. By observing the code of ethics every member ensures that they are held to a higher standard when it comes to quality patient care and at the same time help eliminate bad actors in the profession. Moreover, the purpose of a code of ethics can be examined from three dimensions. The first dimension of the purpose of a code of ethics is that the code of ethics can constrain, guide, and inspire through positive and negative approaches. In other words, depending on the nature of the statements made in the code, there are ways to help professionals and personnel to make sound ethical decisions in their everyday work environment or when facing a large ethical dilemma. Sometimes these codes are simple three word inspirational mechanisms, while others are much longer lists. The mechanisms that are implemented are taken from the different dimensions of the ethical triangle, but the best codes balance all three dimensions.
