The Florida Department of Education has its own specific Code of Ethics just as any other state in the united state. 6B-1:001 is the Codes and 6b-1:006 are the Principles. As an educator in Florida one is expected and required to follow all the codes and principles. To be sure to not get into trouble an educator must follow the all the Principles of Professional conduct for the Education Profession. There are many obligations involved, ones to the students, ones to the public, and ones to the profession. By breaking those rules one can have their educator’s certification revoked and not be permitted to teach in Florida or they could also be punished by the law enforcement (1). The Code of Ethic for the Education Profession does not just involve the schools staff with its student but with everyone that is involved with the school. A quote from the first code “educator values the worth and dignity of every person” (1), to be an educator one has to keep their colleges, boss, parents, student and community in mind. To be in the education profession one is signing up to be a trustworthy, knowledgeable, devoted, and understanding individual. They must guarantee equal opportunities for everyone. Their primary concern is to their students learning and potential. One has to “sustain the highest degree of ethical conduct” (1). The first list of obligations in the Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession in Florida contains 9 rules that has involved with the educator and their students. They involve protection, safety, restrains, points of view, learning subjects, embarrassment, legal rights, harassment, discrimination, relationships and personal information. Many of these rules are important for an educator to r... ... middle of paper ... ...s to, who is watching, and what the consequences are. Works Cited "Civil rights." In conclusion, if any of these eight principals are not adhered to then, the Ohio State Board of Education has the authority and the control to revoke a educator’s license. If a parent, student or anyone within the school system or community files a complaint with the Ohio Department of Education for breaking any of these Code of Conduct then the State board of education will have the to start an investigation into the matter. Also depending on what principles has been broken and by how many times then the State of Board has the right to take and revoke ones license on state and local levels ending an educator’s career.

The Code of Ethics can help us understand what our professional responsibilities are to the children in our care, to the families of the children, to co-workers, and to the community and society in general.
In Woodlock v. Orange, the school counselor, known as N.W., was advocating for systemic change on behalf of her special education students. This was well within the code of ethics. N.W. was repeatedly expressing her concerns to the administrative intern and principal. Her primary concern was a lack of certified gym and art instructors, which violated state special education mandates and the children’s IEPs. She raised other safety concerns to the administration with little to no response. She began to document all of her interactions with the administration, leading to a written reprimand issued to her by the principal. This reprimand stated that N.W. was “taking it upon yourself t...

Currently I am working for a Christian preschool as a co-teacher for a class of eleven 3 year old children. Working for a Christian preschool you would imagine that having and displaying good morals and ethics would be a must, however just like with any workplace there are those who sometimes break or they may say bend these ethical rules and display behavior that should not be revealed in any type of situation, especially in the workplace. The text book describes ethics in the workplace as “Ethics of business is just that, ethics- a sense of right and wrong when dealing with coworkers, employers, employees, customers, shareholders, and the general population”, basically saying that ethics allows you to

The occupations that I have chosen to analyze using the three elements for this assignment are paraprofessional, what I am currently, and a teacher, what I am going to college to become. Teachers and paraprofessionals work side by side, collaborate, plan, and share many of the same experiences. However, paraprofessionals are often not treated as equals and has created some ethical judgement regarding treatment of the paraprofessionals from other teachers and administrators in the business of education. I want to use this assignment as an opportunity to distinguish the true professional using the elements designed for this course.
Many states have created tenure policies to protect competent teachers from malicious accusations, and these policies can vary state to state. In this report there will be an exploration on the tenure and termination policy as it applies to the state of New York, an examination on an allegation against a school teacher based on facts and details provided, a review of the investigative process as it pertains to state law, and an outline on the various steps taken by an administrator in addressing this situation.

As an educator, one should be careful of their actions and take ownership of their career. This is the premise of the Ownership Principle. I believe that all professionals need to be conscience of their decisions and actions that could negatively affect his or her career. Educators especially need to have morals because they work with children and things you think are little can make a big impression on a child. Teachers shape the children they have in their classroom, so if the children see their teacher doing dishonest and inappropriate things, they will think that these actions are acceptable. Along with taking ownership of their decisions and actions, educators need to take ownership of their careers. Educators have a huge role in the life
Because members of school administration are entrusted with the management of public funds, administrators must act ethically and with integrity to ensure school funds are utilized responsibly and that policies that affect the district’s financial integrity are closely examined. Therefore, policies, such as approval of expenditures and payroll, finance and goal setting, and the preparation of the budget, that directly impact the financial integrity of a school district should be carefully
