decides to gate crash it the party in hope to see the girl he loves
Act One of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare The play Romeo and Juliet is set in "fair Verona" in Italy. Shakespeare based his play on a poem by Brooke and brought it to the theatres in 1595. Although the play is set in Italy many things mentioned could be found in Elizabethan England, for example the Capulet's party. This suggests to me that Shakespeare had little knowledge of Italian life and culture.
3When Capulet was informed by Tybalt about the presence of Romeo (Montague) Capulet said, “A bears him like a portly gentlemen”. His ignorance towards Romeo’s presence caused the two youngsters to fall in love, which led to a series of problems. Another mistake was to arrange Juliet’s marriage with Paris without her consent. When Paris came to ask to make Juliet his bride, Capulet changed his opinion when he first asked and said, “I think she’ll be ruled-in all respect by me. Nay, more, I doubt it”.
When there is a fight in the market place, Capulet rushes to fight for his honor, “my sword I say, old Montague is come...” Capulet denies Paris’ request to marry Juliet “ and too soon marred are those so early made,” acting for his own good because he wants Juliet to produce many offspring to carry on the Capulets bloodline, since she is his only surviving child. When at the ball Capulet demands Tybalt to let Romeo be,” content thee, gentle coz, let him alone,” but this just fuels Tybalts anger towards Romeo, which eventually ends up in Tybalt causing his own death. Capulet believes he is giving his child the best when he announces her engagement to Paris” she shall be married to this noble earl,” and believes Paris will make a good husband for Juliet. When Juliet refuses Capulet thinks it best to threaten her, “I will drag thee,” but this just makes Juliet turn to more drastic measures.
he is a bit hasty. When he asks for his sword Lady Capulet says ‘ A crutch, a crutch, a crutch! Why call you for sword?’(I.i.74) This gives the impression that Capulet is perhaps too old for this kind of brawl and it is mocking him for. However, his behaviour shows the strong emotions he feels towards the Montagues and how important his family is to him.
In Act IV, scene III of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is forced to make a decision; take a sleeping potion gifted to her by Friar Laurence and risk possibly being stuck in the Capulet family tomb, or marry Paris. To her, marrying Paris is not an option and so she drinks the vile. Although, before consuming the Friar’s remedy, Juliet expresses her worries in her soliloquy. To do this, Shakespeare manipulates imagery and the rhetorical device of questioning to reveal his main character’s deepest and darkest fears.
Romeo and Juliet: Five days to fall in love! Romeo and Juliet, love till death do us part. Romeo and Juliet, two people, from very distinctive families, fell in love. They had help from two people very dear to their hearts, but did the two people dearest to them, make the right decision? Friar Lawrence and The Nurse failed as God Teacher because they allowed Romeo and Juliet to get married, and in the process, helped them to go behind the backs of their parents to do so.
Romeo Montague, age 16, died due to poison on August 14, 1595, in the tomb of the Capulets. Born on December 16, 1579, Romeo lived a short life, but it was a full of love, heartbreak and fun. Romeo was the only son of the Capulet family. He was loved dearly by both his mother and father, Lord and Lady Montague and many others. Romeo is survived by his parents, Lord and Lady Montague, of Verona; his relatives, Benvolio and Mercutio (Dead), of Verona; and his servant, Balthasar. A great leader and strong role model, Romeo knew when to have fun and when to fool around with his friends.
“But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?/ It is the east, and Juliet is the sun/ Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon/ Who is already sick and pale with grief/ That thou her maid art far more fair than she/ Be not her maid since she is envious/ Her vestal livery is but sick and green/ And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off!/ It is my lady. Oh, it is my love/ Oh, that she knew she were!” (Shakespeare II ii 2-11).
Then then the. Capulet enters the sandbox. Give me my sword’. Then the Montague enters the room. ‘ Thou villain Capulet’ When the prince says his big long speech he says about how the two sides have disturbed Verona as a whole.
“A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.” Mignon McLaughlin
...uliet. “Where be these enemies? Capulet, Montague? See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, that heaven finds means to kill your joys with love!”... “Give me thy hand this is my daughter’s jointure, for no more can I demand.” This is evidence that Capulet and Montague hated each other, but when their children die, they realise that there is no point in hating each other, so they reconcile and become friends.
I have thought upon the dilemma of the punishment for the uncivil Capulet's and Montague's for quite sometime now, and now I have written this decree to end all rumors of their fate. It is known that Juliet Capulet, daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet, and Romeo Montague, son of Lord and Lady Montague are beyond punishment due to their tragic deaths caused from the grievances made by the two families unmannerly dispute. And as those two ill- fated lovers remain dead, their families will forever curse the days they spent bickering. Now it is my job, as your ruler to allot a fair, and righteous infliction for the rampage we have had to witness take place in our town of Verona.
Sampson and Gregory are itching for a fight as they both believe that they have just as much right to defend the name ‘capulet’ as any other member of the family. So there is also this love for the name and for the fight as though they are children awaiting presents.
Lady Capulet sends the nurse away but then calls her back right away because she needs support for the conversation she must have with he daughter. She knows she must speak with her only daughter about marriage, which is a topic the Lady Capulet is relatively unsuited to speak of. She herself has a rotten relationship with her husband, which Shakespeare shows when during the fight between the Capulets and Montagues, Capulet demands “Give me my long sword, ho!” Lady Capulet responds by angrily shouting “A crutch, a crutch! why call you for a sword?(Rom 1.1. 68-69). Instead of doing what her husband wants, Lady Capulet insults him publicly. Clearly they have a subpar relationship. Due to her atrocious relationship, she does not fancy the subject
