Art can mean many different things to many different people and was one of the earliest ways in which man has expressed him or herself to others, whether it was through cave drawings or hieroglyphics. It does not begin or end with just drawing or painting, items typically considered art, or the many other recognized facets of art including architecture, drama, literature, sculpting, and music. My research is based on Vincent van Gogh art, and two art paintings that I choose to study is The Starry Night, 1889, and the second art is The Sower 1888. Vincent van Gogh’s is known for Impressionism, that occurs to us in these times, much more to affirm close links with tradition, and to represent
Realism started in France in the 1830s. It was very popular there for a long time. A man named Friedrich Schiller came up with the word “realism.” Realism is based on contemporary life. There is a very accurate and honest representation of characters in this style of art. Realism tries to combine romanticism and the enlightenment. Life isn’t just about mind and not just about feelings either, it’s about both feelings and reason together. As said in the na...
In the mid-1950s in Britain and late 1950s in the United States pop art is a movement that rise. Eduardo Paolozzi and Richard Hamilton in Britain, and Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns in the United States Shaped the pop art movement among the early artists. Art itself refers not as much as to the attitude behind the art. Mass culture, such as advertising, comic books, and mundane cultural objects of pop art employs shape, form, value or line. As well as in expansion of those ideas, pop art interpreted as a reaction to the then-dominant idea of abstract expressionism. Art movement that precede postmodern art, or are some of the earliest examples of postmodern themselves are known as post art and minimalism.

Studio arts and music has been integrated in many aspects and gives a creative expression in fussing studio arts and music programs in general. There is increased concern in the development of creative interest between music artists and those engaging in studio arts expertise. Visual art is a major component of fine studio arts and it gives artist opportunity of personal development in their music career and this is the reason why music artist who perform in different genealogical periods notably centuries had different expression of ideas as well as their way of examining identity (Colwell 205). Visual art exhibition of different periods can be used to deduce different interpretation of life and day to day experience of artists. This is evident in the transformation of music overtime from the romantic, classical, impressionism, serialism, and nationalism periods of music transformations.
René Magritte’s art influenced a change of movements from Surrealism to Pop Art for his use of repetition in his art works as well as of his art works. The repetition of his surrealist works influenced the use of repetition in Pop Art, though the reason behind why each of the movements incorporated them are

Graphic design is a type of art that has been around almost since the beginning of time. Its main purpose has always been to communicate something to the viewer, and this communication is being done through visuals and in some cases typography as well. An era of graphic design that revolutionized design into what we now know it as today is the Swiss design era. Specifically, work done by Armin Hofmann. His work is what kick started modern graphic design. His designs have a clean, minimal feel, which is popular even in today’s graphic design. Hofmann as well as other Swiss graphic designers in the modern art movement really set the bar for designers who came after them. The post-modern
While it's apparent that artists of the modern age owe much to the artists in the Renaissance, there are many differences between the two. There are some similarities however much of what the artist is expressing, and how they present their concepts are entirely different. Renaissance art appears to be more of a historic record, and heavily influenced by reason and mathematics. Modern art on the other hand tends to convey ideas, and emotions, leaving interpretation to the viewer, instead of being straight forward.
Technology and social change have long been vital in the evolution of graphic design and its importance in the society. In particular was the Industrial Revolution between 1760 and 1840, which brought about the transformation from agrarian to industrialized societies across Europe and America. Mass production was made possible by new technologies; availability and variety of goods increased and cost of manufacturing decreased, accompanied by the higher standard of living for many people. A consequence of mass production on graphic design was that it led to the demise of the unity between design and production. Craftsmen were replaced by modern technologies, sacrificing artistry for speed and cheaper production.
This essay is based on the semiotic and formal analysis of design differences and comparisons between art deco and art nouveau. the two movements surround the events of world war 1 mainly and influenced but political and social events within the western cultures such as France, England and America. both art movements play a significant role in representing the way people lived socially and representing such aspects of their life spans as wealth, religious views and political and economic influences.
Romanticism was a deepened appreciation of the beauties of nature. It was a general exaltation of emotion over reason order and instinct. It was full of high passion. Romanticism was “a turning in upon the self and a heightened examination of human personality and its moods and mental potentialities”, (Pioch). The art expressed passions and inner struggles. The artists of this time were supremely individual creators. To them the creative spirit was the most important thing of their art. They didn’t follow the strict adherence to formal rules and traditional procedures. They thought of the “imagination as the gateway to the transcendent experience and spiritual truth”, (Pioch). They had obsessive interests in folk culture, the medieval era, national and ethnic culture origins. Realism was and still is an accurately reproduction of reality or heroism of modern life. Realism came as a response to Romanticism. Realism struggled against the ‘over popularity’ of Romanticism. It consisted of many pieces of still life and domestic art. Courbet, Millet, and Zola were some more of the major artists doing Realism art. They aren’t as well known as many other artists because every one was doing this kind of art and it was hard to tell the differences between the artists that painted Realism paintings. Realism “became just one more style among others”, (Brown). They anticipated many of the concerns of the eighteen hundreds or of the century before. “Realism is a recurrent theme in art which becomes a coherent movement”, (Cruttenden 50) but only after 1850.
1. Select one of the following pair of artworks and describe the differences you observe between them. Each pair consists of art of the Early Renaissance (Chapter 21) and that of the High and Late Renaissance (Chapter 22). Examine the composition, technique, position of the figures, and facial expressions, as well as any relevant elements of art and principals of design (see handout from September or Google “art elements and design principals”).
In conclusion, the art of the 19th century was composed of a sequence of competing artistic movements that sought to establish its superiority, ideologies and style within the artistic community of Europe. These movements, being Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, ultimately spread far beyond the confines of Europe and made modern art an international entity which can still be felt in today’s artistic world.
