Miley Cyrus’s New Influences on the World More than a handful of people believe that when Miley Cyrus ended the show that she had formally starred in, Hannah Montana, she lost all control and abandoned all her moral values! She was a role model for numerous children and pre-teens, including myself, but many people’s opinions were changed. However, I think the exact opposite! She had just merely won her own voice and matured. Cyrus may not be a role model for younger girls and children anymore, but with her new views and actions she can now be seen as a role model for older teens and adults. She sets a good example for many by working with countless charities, working to fight for an AIDS free world, and she is also a role model for being who you are and want to be, in spite of others’ criticism. She inspires me and many others to go out, to get involved, to be yourself, and most of all to be proud of yourself! “As you grow older, you will discover you have two hands. One for helping yourself and one for helping others,” said Audrey Hepburn (Miley, Cyrus “Miley Cyrus: We Will Make an AIDS-Free World a Reality”). Miley Cyrus has certainly discovered her helping hand with age. She is …show more content…
volunteering her time and efforts towards many charities and foundations; some you may even be familiar with. Some of popular charities she volunteers with are the City of Hope, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Cyrus has done various fundraisers, like t-shirt designing, participating in concerts, making songs, and a promoting a YouTube competition in her spare time, all to raise money for different organizations and people in need (“Miley Gives Back”). Furthermore in 2011, she also said she was enthusiastic to bring fresh water to the villages in Indonesia that were impoverished and indigent (“Cyrus wants to do Charity in Indonesia”). Miley urged her fans in 2010 to get involved in the YouTube competition, which required the participants to create a video to honor and recognize a service organization they cared the most about (“Cyrus Backs YouTube”). She teamed up with a clothing line to design a Native American dreamcatcher t-shirt with all the money earned going back to a charity that helps children that are deprived all over the United States (“Cyrus Designs T-Shirts”). She has also been seen posing naked on MARC JACOBS T-shirts for the Protect the Skin You’re In campaign, which raises awareness and money for skin cancer (“Miley Strips Naked”). Miley has teamed with various artist like Ariana Grande, Joan Jett, and Shakira to make songs, for example “Love & Rock”, and perform concerts and videos (“Miley Recruits Famous Friends”, “Cyrus and Shakira”). She inspires others to volunteer their spare time and efforts in as many ways as possible to help those in need. Like Miley Cyrus said, “I think it’s just really important to always give back in as many ways as you can.” (“Cyrus Backs YouTube”) “A dream you dream alone is only a dream, but a dream you dream together is a reality.” said John Lennon. AIDS is an incurable disease that affects numerous loved ones across the nation. However, the fight for an HIV/AIDS cure and those affected has become a long and misunderstood battle. This ghastly disease is met with a horrible stigma and judgment that can discriminate those battling the epidemic. Miley Cyrus has teamed up with amfAR to help make this world AIDS free and more accepting to those affected by this disease. AmfAR is a foundation that funds research grants for finding a cure and gets those battling the disease access to their dignity and rights, like any other human being. She was awarded the inspiration award for this foundation for all her efforts she put into making this world more accepting to people with AIDS. She recently even teamed up with MAC to model a lipstick brand that would help impact the future for HIV/AIDS cure and those affected. Miley is raising awareness and money for those battling AIDS and the dark criticism that comes from having this disease (Miley, Cyrus “Miley Cyrus: We Will Make an AIDS-Free World a Reality”). “I’m beyond blessed, and it’s the best feeling in the world. I’ve always had a lot of anxiety, and I’ve dropped that completely and really started living in the moment and not thinking about anything too much—really practicing what I preach when I say not to worry what other people think and be who you are to the fullest. I’m proud knowing that’s what I encourage other girls to do,” said Miley, in 2013. Miley Cyrus has become a role model for older teens and adults to be who they are or want to be, no matter what other people may think. She teaches the basics of being original and proud of who you are! She says that by letting loose of society norms and just living she has overall became a happier person. Cyrus overcame her anxiety issues and the fear of “fitting in” in society’s norms, which many of us deal with. Her unique music also has taken the attention of many, some in bad ways. But overall her music is original and really lets Miley be free and express herself. She says that her music she created really has made a very own unique sound. This has made her a positive influence for many trying to “fit in” with today’s harsh society (“Miley Cyrus”). Miley Cyrus may be seen as the new bad girl of celebrities, but she has only matured with age and in her own way.
Her audience has definitely changed, but she is still teaching some valuable lessons. Cyrus’s charity work inspires others to get involved in the community and the world’s problems. Her boldness also teaches women a valuable value to live by, especially in our vicious society, filled with criticism. Her actions and words have taught girls to be who they are and to be proud of that! She reaches a bigger audience than just girls. She inspires all to be who they are, even if that means you have AIDS or any other struggle in your life. Her volunteer work and work in general has set examples for our world to help our community in as many ways as possible and be
unique!
The journey of LeAnn Rimes and her rise to stardom have influenced music today. Rimes said, “I’ve always told myself since I was a little girl that if there’s one thing I wanted, it was for everyone around the world to know who I was” (Tucker). LeAnn has certainly lived up to these expectations, and she serves as a role model to young artists.

She made an impact in the world through many of her opportunities that she accomplished. First off, Rivers changed the role of women in the comedian and show business world. She made the topics discussed more equal and portrayed women as having just as successful careers as men. Next, her books inspired people to look from within and change the world for the better. The books allowed for the readers to explore through Joan’s struggles in life and to see how she overcame those struggles. Joan Rivers created a jewelry brand that would give women the feeling of inner self confidence. Rivers portrayed older women in a better light. Just because a person is old, doesn’t mean their career is over. In a way, she motivates older women to keep striving for their goals, despite the criticism. Joan was successful in winning Celebrity Apprentice, giving her face time on NBC and allowing her career to pick up again. Throughout life, Joan always looked for the next open door, yet as she aged, and opportunities came and went, she was able to live in the moment and appreciate the opportunity at hand. She never knew when the last opportunity would come, therefore she endured life with inner satisfaction. At times, River’s would show frustration, but she never gave up. Rivers would give back to the community. For instance, around Thanksgiving time, she would pass out meals to those who were unable to prepare food for
For instance Farrah Abraham, who in the show is usually seen boy hunting, fighting with her mom and sister, and nearly neglecting her responsibilities as a mother (find specifics). She lets her daughter “do her own thing while she does hers” Her life after 16 & Pregnant isn’t much different. . “Over the past year-and-a-half, former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham has released two adult films, been booted from ‘Teen Mom’, appeared on Couples Therapy (solo), hawked a line of sex toys, and been criticized for not taking care of her daughter, among other things”. (Majesk) But the thing about Farrah is that she doesn’t regret it at all. Farrah can be seen as the antithesis to Maci. In recent years she has used her popularity to make a name for herself instead of helping other teen girls. Recently she debuted as a singer at the 340 Nightclub in Pomona, California, and was cast in the movie “Axeman II: Overkill’’, and is currently working on her “porn career”. It can be said that Farrah aka “the most irresponsible 16 & pregnant star”, and others like her, are one of the main reasons that 16 & Pregnant has such a bad name and a reputation for being the show that generates some of the most undeserving teen stars
Today it is hard to imagine a female celebrity without seeing mental images of someone stumbling out of clubs, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, or exposing their skin. What has happened to the role models that were once defined by people like Audrey Hepburn, Mother Teresa and Eleanor Roosevelt. In between the chaotic mess of people like Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, and the Kardashians is an under-rated role model, Taylor Swift. Just at the age of twenty four, she holds the prestige of winning seven Grammy's becoming one of the greatest musical sensations. Aside from her music, her keen attitude is receiving accolade from many people. Taylor Swift is the best role model for girls of because of her clean public image.
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” (Marilyn Monroe).
For this assignment I will listen to the song “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus and describe it in detail. I will then analyze the song with Parasocial Contact Hypothesis and Regret Theories in mind and find two factors that would predict why other people might choose to listen to “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus has been a household name since the success of her hit show Hannah Montana. Long gone is the thirteen-year old girl who played America’s sweetheart on Disney Channel. Today the media portrays her as an out of control twenty-two year old superstar. The recent confrontation on the 2015 Video Music Awards with Nicki Minaj is a prime example of how Hannah Montana has turned herself into a thing of the past. The transformation from Hannah Montana to Miley Cyrus has caused her to change her appearance, morals, and music.
"Music is what I breathe, what I love to do. It keeps me alive, " Miley Cyrus once said. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, knew even as a baby, Miley could sing (Miley Cyrus Quotes). She has an extraordinary story. One day Miley was just a normal girl and what seemed like the next day, a pop star. She was introduced to fame at a very young age and is now still growing up in front of the world. She was born Destiny Hope Cyrus because her parents believed she would achieve greatness (Miley Cyrus Biography). They had a lot of hope and promise for their young daughter. Miley is one of the most successful kids from Disney and now she is rising to fame all on her own. It is hard having everyone watch your every move and being constantly photographed, but she deals with it because she loves what she does. Miley Cyrus has led a very unique life both through her childhood and teen life.
Continuing, she did a photoshoot for the cover of Vanity Fair, which resulted in controversy because parents did not want their daughters to imitate Miley. This was a precursor to Miley 's now reconstructed star text because she understood that controversy brought in a lot of attention, and she embraced it whether it was good or bad. That 's why she no longer wanted to be the stereotypical-looking woman, so she cut her hair short, got tattoos all over her body, and started dressing provocatively and doing nude photoshoots. She started to change up her songs from strictly pop and country music to doing R&B, rap, and unclassifiable genres. This led her to working with many people from all over the entertainment industry, predominantly with African Americans. Since changing genres, she started singing and rapping about partying and smoking marijuana, which she would be spotted doing with some of the rappers she rapped with. She made twerking, sticking one 's tongue out to the side, and foam fingers cool, which is apart of her controversial and outlandish brand. Overall, Miley Cyrus reconstructed her star text in order to stay relevant in today 's ever-changing
Music is a epitome of peace and serenity. It should not be responsible for the decisions that people make in life. There are a lot of people who listen to different types of music and most of them do not commit crimes and live regular lives like everyone else in society. While the blame for violence in general is being shifted away from popular lyrics to video games, people are still blaming most of the problems on pop music lyrics. Some children do not even pay attention to the lyrics; they just like the beat of the song. Lyrics in popular music are not harmful to children, this can be seen through the benefits that music has on a person, because they help educate young children, they benefit people who are having medical problems and they act as emotional stimulates.
The last path is to reinvent themselves. According to Smalley and McIntosh, reinventing is when the celebrity “doesn’t attempt to capitalize on their former fame by becoming their public self”, and also requires a “strong core self that remains relatively intact through their fame”(Smalley and McIntosh, 391). Conveniently Miley possesses both qualities. All Miley’s life she wanted to be a role model to her audience, whether it be a positive/negative role model for young preteens or young women. Also she exclaims no further interest in the identity given to her by Disney, but rather wanted to reveal his true self. While interviewed by the Daily Star Sunday Cyrus has discusses her true feelings about her public-given ego given by her role given by Disney stating “they try to make someone not grow up, but you can’t do that to real, normal people.”(Celebuzz). Miley wanted to no longer be seen as an immature teenager, but redefine herself as a mature women to be taken seriously after her prominent role in Hannah Montanna. Therefore, Miley Cyrus has completely pivoted from being a Disney star and did a 180 degree turn toward becoming an infamous “Wild Child”. “I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I’m this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day. It’s like, ‘Has anyone ever heard of rock ’n’ roll?’ (Huffington Post). However, she doesn’t do these controversial things for her personal benefit, she does it for her publicity. Perhaps later in her career when she actually becomes mature, and loses her fame, she will attempt to regain it back by becoming a role model for adult females who have the ability to demonstrate female equality. With the ever increasing support of feminism currently happening in the United States she could become a women’s advocate once her singing career is over.
In conclusion, she is a very good role model. She is a good role model because she shows people it is good to give to charity and she is a hard worker. She also shows that you don’t need to have inappropriate songs or inappropriate performances to be popular. This is why she is my favorite superstar and I wanted to write a research paper on her.
...ld have been very hard to tell her what to do. When someone is that comfortable with whom they are you cannot help but admire them. They are who they are and no one will ever be able to change that. They are above the trivial ways of trying to fit in to get people to like them. She had all she wanted, her family and the rest didn’t matter. No one would ever be able to shape her into what they want. She wasn’t out spoken but she didn’t let people use her. Isn’t that what makes heroism? She was someone who would never do something just because society told her. Isn’t that which make progress possible too? There are few ways progress can only be made by those who are willing to be different and not conform to society. Maybe that is what everyone liked about her, how she couldn’t be manipulated. She was always aware what was going on but it never caused her to change.
