Sharing knowledge with others is both an enriching and rewarding experience. I didn't discover this until my journey into teaching. When fellow students and teachers acclaimed my math skills and problem solving techniques, I realized that math is one of my strengths and that I am able to articulate difficult math concepts easily. What started out as a casual conversation with my math academy teacher was soon put to the test and my journey into teaching began.

Would they listen to what I, someone barely into high school, had to say? The lectures and lessons were tense at first, but gradually I created a more interactive and exciting environment where the children showed promise in understanding interesting mathematical concepts. My communication skills drastically improved and my confidence grew steadily each session. Overcoming my initial hesitance to pursue teaching proved one of the best decisions of my life.
After teaching for over a year and improving my leadership skills, I was becoming comfortable with addressing larger audiences. My next venture was volunteering at the local
Discovery Science Center teaching adults as well as children. My main responsibility was to educate all visitors about the intricacies of all science exhibits and activities and be a subjectmatter expert to answer their questions or concerns. Unlike at the math academy, the environment at the center was more formal with a larger age range. Instructing unfamiliar audiences proved to be quite intimidating as I had to prepare and present demonstrations that

As a tennis player myself, I joined the organization No Limitz
Tennis, teaching tennis to children with autism and other special needs. At the beginning, the challenge was getting to know every participant and making each feel comfortable playing the game in a team environment. It took extra effort to get the students to focus and follow structured lesson plans. As coaches, we needed to think of different approaches to make every session useful to the players and to their parents. Using repetitive drills and motion signals to display proper techniques helped facilitate the sessions, and soon I was able to connect with the players.
After multiple sessions, we became more familiar with each other and started enjoying the game of tennis together. Teaching is strenuous, but the overall experience is very humbling.

This reflection paper is based on the life history interview conducted on me and a 78-year-old woman who is soon going to celebrate her 79th birthday on Sep 21st. I would call her with a fictitious name “Smita” in the entire paper to maintain and protect her privacy. The interview was about our life. It was divided into six major life categories: childhood, adulthood, identity, the present, aging, and life lessons. Having an opportunity to interview a 78-year-old woman and writing this reflective paper about the life history and experiences had made me realize that I have a lot to learn about the stages of human life. Every individual lives are different and it varies tremendously. As an interviewee my goal was to collect the details of life, different stories, and experiences that makes our life unique from the rest of the people.

Steve prefers to work with middle aged children, for younger children make him uncomfortable and older children are too political. Prior to the case study he had low expectations for the children, for he believed the parents are not educating their children enough. As a result, during the first school trip he ignored the new format and preceded giving the group a traditional tour of the museum. During the second school trip Steve was an “roaming expert (Allen and Crowley 94)”, so he would walk through the exhibits, as a source of guidance, but also as an observer. Therefore, during the second visit Steve had the opportunity to realize how educated and excited the children were about the museum and its exhibit, for the children had learned about this topic prior to entering the museum. At my internship at the Historical Society, I got to observe a second grade walking tour and I remember being mesmerized about how educated the children were about Frederick’s history, but also how the students were applying the information they obtained in class into the tour. Both Steve and I learned that in-classroom preparation prior to visiting a museum can truly make an education program more rewarding for the students and the museum
Once people start to learn how to play the game, they can become much more aware of their surroundings. Tennis not only requires one to watch the ball constantly, but also watch for other balls that may come onto the court. Playing tennis also requires the individual to practice. Similar with starting any new sport or club, many people are given the chance to meet new people who share something that they are both passionate about and can relate to. People are also given a chance to become more physically fit. Tennis requires many short sprints from one end of the court to the other, as well as constant conditioning to build up one’s strength, physically and mentally. Tennis can give many people the chance to become more physically active and expand their social life once they decide to incorporate it into their daily

...o listen carefully to ensure that kids are discussing scientific ideas, not socializing. The teacher's role is to ensure that students achieve their primary goal: meaningful understanding of scientific concepts. The practices described in this article help bring this about in several ways. When instruction centers on students and focuses on hands-on experience with scientific phenomena, science class becomes an exciting place. When instruction concentrates on the investigation of current problems and issues through scientific inquiry, science class becomes a relevant and meaningful place. When instruction emphasizes the development of communication skills, science class becomes an invaluable place for preparing children to tackle the challenges of adulthood. And the education community owes it to its students to assess their academic progress fairly and accurately.
