The first video was about a product designer, Marc Newson who has been described as the most inspirational designer of his generation. He is a 50 year old Australian industrial designer who works in aircraft design, product design, furniture design, jewellery, and clothing. Newson graduated in jewellery design and sculpture at college. He studied at Sydney College of art where his passion for designing took flight and he decided to continue to pursue a career in design. Newson’s design style is Biomorphism, an art movement which highlights artistic design elements on naturally occurring patterns or shapes reminiscent of nature and living organisms. Taken to its extreme it attempts to force naturally occurring shapes onto functional devices.
Marc Newson has won many different awards for his unique designs throughout the years such as Royal designer for

He creates a concept, something unrealistic to produce, due to cost, materials or other reason, or something that has never existed before and that you think would not be possible to make but is used for inspiration for other designers or companies to take on board some of his ideas or simplify them down.
Marc Newson gives off the impression that he wants to produce something new, extraordinary and unseen before. To take it to the next level so that people are shocked but intrigued and attract to his designs.
For example the video I watched, showed how extreme his approach to design to design where he was to make a new model of Ford 021C, but he took a different approach and created a extraordinary car, that looked almost futuristic, which was simplified down on the inside to only a few buttons so that it was easier to work and also the seats inside swivelled round and the car doors opened both at the centre making the access to the car much easier and

“To design is to communicate clearly by whatever means you can control or master.” These words by Milton Glaser are the perfect embodiment of his work over the years. He was able to spread his message through his works of art by being simplistic and straight to the point. This simple ideology of is the reason that he is such a renowned figure in the graphic design community, and around the world, even though his name may not be known by all, his works of art have been shared, and loved by the world. He clearly is a master of modern/ abstract design, along with communicating to his audience.
It’s often unacknowledged that there are designers that are behind creating and drawing out the designs we see on our everyday products, whether it be toilet paper, bleach, or a can of soup. There are people behind creating the enticing labels that urge us to crave and need that product. Andy Warhol shined a light on a whole world of unrecognised artists,
Dieter Rams, a German industrial designer, is famous for industrial design. Dieter worker for Braun who was an electrical appliance manufacturer, and he worked there as a designer from 1955 to 1995. During the time, The radios, shavers, juicers, clocks, record players and other products he designed for Braun are marvels of industrial design: beautiful, unobtrusive and simple to use. Rams had also a heavy influence on Apple’s Senior Vice President of Industrial Designer, Jonathan Ives, for many of Apple’s well-known products. During the 1970s, according to his design experiences, Dieter Rams started to define his approach to "good design" by forming ten principles. These principles apply to all fields of design: fashion, furniture, auto, tech, etc.
After being ranked 8th in the world and having a known name in the sporting industry, he was easily contacted and hired for designing sports/surfing magazines and advertisements. In the interview conducted by Designboom, Carson stated that he had no real formal training in the design world, resulting in a lack of knowledge in basic design content (i.e. grids, formulas, schools of thought, etc.) (Designboom, 2014). But, with his early interest and education in sociology, and his Bachelor of Arts degree, he is easily able to work with real stories, real people, events, and music. When Carson is given the brief article that he must design around, or the client’s idea pitch, he just designs what he feels is right (Designboom, 2014). The more pieces he creates, the more experimental he gets. This act of fearlessness and adventuresome is what makes him such a desirable designer. Clients are confident that he will produce something unique, beautiful, and daring. Carson stated that his strongest skill is his “ability to speak visually and emotionally to a wide variety of audiences and topics” (Designboom, 2014). Carson has been in the design industry for many years and has worked with many varied clients, making his knowledge and level of creativity mastered. His curious, bold, and open-minded personality, plus his experimental, clever, and unique approach to design, has made the successful designer who he is
With his down-the-rabbit-hole approach to design and obsessive attention to detail, Wes Anderson, writer, director and auteur, is best known for his highly stylized movies. His extremely visual, nostalgic worlds give meaning to the stories in his films, contrary to popular critical beliefs that he values style over substance. Through an analysis of his work, I plan to show that design can instead, give substance to style.
A creator can be an individual, such as an author writing a novel, a group creating a new, popular dance, or even an institution or company such as Apple developing the Iphone. Therefore, the creators are those who have the potential to place an object into the world in order for it to be received in the first place, and eventua...
With clear indication from her works, you can see that Oxman draws her inspiration from the natural world. From her works, she is pushing the boundaries of the possible, while in the same line of process, is creating extremely beautiful and though-provoking objects. As for example, one of the chairs she has produced from a new 3-D printer she has designer, she states, she states that she drew inspiration from internal structures of organism or other biological forms such as their bones. Oxman tends to aim her work to be able to use computational tools to generate “performance-based design.” She states that’s this kind of design similarly occurs in nature. She further states "the organization of the
...nding things; putting them together and making them work. He often used subtle colours in his collages allowing for the occasional use of bold colours to act as a contrast. Similarly he would cut shapes into clear geometric forms, often to make some kind of statement. The influences of Cubism and Constructivism, can be seen in the arrangement and composition of his work.
One of the key ideas of the modern era was to forge the designs of the future on the corpses of the past, disregarding everything from the last era and moving forward with new ideals and styles. Refining and discarding they shaped, molded and constricted the ideas of design until reaching the pinnacle of minimalism. Creating design with pure aesthetics and reducing an object down to its core fundamental elements. Using the ideas of “less is more” or even “using less for more”, the designs ended up simple and elegant with a focus not in quantit...

Today, Americans are faced with the increasing change of technology in our everyday life. Sometimes the change happens and we do not realize how it affects our lives. I think it is always a good idea to talk to someone that is older than yourself, like your grandparents to remind you of the times in their younger years. Hopefully, that will open your eyes to the changes we face in this generation and the generation to come. In this chapter, the author explores the relationship of changing technology to changes in both the environment and social institutions.
‘You cannot hold a design in your hand. It is not a thing. It is a process. A system. A way of thinking.’ Bob Gill, Graphic Design as a Second Language.
A new product on the market may look all shiny and new and be appealing to customers but what is the story behind the product and what is the underlying future for this product. Where were the original materials from? Is it all legalised? Where did the manufacturing take place? How was the product manufactured? These are all questions that are never properly addressed in the design industry and are just simply overlooked. They are the aspects of designing and producing a new product that need to be carefully looked at to make a good design, and to make sustainable products.
