Diversity in today’s ever-changing workforce is inevitable and knowing how to manage a culturally diverse workforce is essential for any company. Diversity encompasses acceptance and respect! It means understanding we are all different and the same. It's about understanding, embracing, and celebrating all of our unique differences. However, just like everything in life there has to be a balance. To every strength there is a weakness, to every efficiency there is an inefficiency, and often times a diverse workforce includes oppositions and drawbacks and it’s often left up to the human resource managers to implement and oversee diversity training, recruiting, and employment. Teaching employees to have respect for another person is paramount when resolving issues within any organization and most important when you have a group of people that are working towards a common goal. Ensuring employees have respect for others is paramount when resolving issues within an organization; being able to understand and respect others differences not only puts an individual in a great advantage, but it also greatly increases the company’s competitive advantage as well.
The reputation of a business is a key factor in the success of a company. Respect among a company and its workers translates into a cohesive team working together to deliver the best product for the applicable industry it operates in. This builds a good reputation for the people that consume the goods produced. Respecting the differences of the people you work with has a domino effect in the business process that concludes with the company being profitable.

Some suggest that a difference among cultures introduces conflicts to communication. Communication barriers can often lead to employees having difficulties understanding tasks and objectives, as well as expressing their own individual needs. Communication problems can often lead to leadership not tasking said employees which leads to feelings of isolation and discrimination. However, some employees use their language barriers as a manipulative means to discourage management from spreading the workload their way. Poor communication can have drastic effects on business and often results in missed deadlines, employee conflicts, and high turnover rates.
Workplace discrimination can often be found within our ever increasing diverse workforce population. Discrimination can happen to anyone and is most commonly based on age, disabilities, race/color, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, and gender. Discrimination in the workplace leads to more than just a bad day at the office.
