The following short narrative that I have written is about how. George miller’s 2015 film mad max fury road won 6 Oscar’s at the 2016 academy awards I see similarities between this film and Macbeth as it shows the overthrowing of a tyrant. The narrative will detail, that the story is set in an apocalyptic wasteland in Australia, where all human life is insane.
Mad Max: water of the wasteland
BY Alex Armour
The year is 1957, 5 years after the atomic bomb when the world went mad. Mad with corruption, the rise of evil power and unchecked ambition. The atomic bomb created a wasteland with the survivors scrambling for food, water and supplies to be able to survive in this new world reality. One man, Red Mason, through brute force took control of the water supply in major cities and held it for ransom to control the people. His rise to power came through taking advantage of the desperate people of the wasteland. Red Mason started to create his own family of misfits with the underbelly living in the

One night Alpha Mae was on patrol when a man sprinted past her with a look of fear on his face. She grabbed him with her bionic and they quickly crouched down behind a crumbling brick wall as Red Mason’s men ran past. Out of breath and with his eyes closed Mad Max collapsed against her to regain his strength. This chance meeting was the beginning of a partnership that would see the demise of an evil empire.
Alpha Mae led Mad Max back to the warehouse and she learned that he was trying to steal water from Red Mason and had been caught, but he managed to escape and they had been hunting him ever since. After days of recuperating Mad Max explains to Alpha Mae how to infiltrate the station were all the water is stored. They band together their supporters and begin to bring together a plan to overthrow Red
Napoleon Dynamite is one of the best movies portraying loneliness and nerds. It is the story of Napoleon in high school and his lonely adventures. All the main characters feel separated, misunderstood, and have nobody to relate to. Napoleon has no friends and lives in his own fantasy land. He is avoided by everybody. His brother seems to be mislead, wanting to be a cage fighter but staying home all the time hopelessly trying to find love and attention on the internet. Their grandmother is never there for them, though she lives her own life right beside them. They live next to a huge field, reinforcing their isolation. Practically every home in the film is
Rogue One not only surpasses the other films in the franchise, but it does so in a clear and well thought out way. It's a film that had no reason to exist but it does meaningfully with a concise plot. The exposition event is when Director Orson Krennic invades Jyn Else's home and tries to make her father Galen Erso work with the Empire. This ends poorly and the Empire killed Galens wife and takes Galen into their ship while Jyn barely escapes. Rising action then takes place when Jyn, K-2SO and Cassian arrives at the holy city of Jedha. They soon discover Saw Gerrera and find out that they need to get the Death Star plans. They then head to Eadu to find Galen Erso and after sometime arguing head to the Imperial’s base on Scariff. The climax occurs when Jyn Erso is about to send the Death Star plans to the rebellion but confronts Krennic. Cassian defeats him and he goes with Jyn to the beach while the watch the planet blows up. The falling action is when Darth vader inceps the Death Star plans but the rebels escape. The resolution is when Prisons Leia is asked what the plans mean and she says Hope.
The Motorcycle Diaries by Ernesto Che Guevara was an exceptional book that was turned into a biographical film in 2004 by director, Walter Salles. The film won an award in 2005, the “BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film,” sadly the book itself never received an award. The book is based upon Ernesto Guevara and Alberto Granado’s adventures throughout South America on a motorcycle, named “The Mighty One.” The Motorcycle diaries, like just about any other book written, the movie’s screenplay was written to correlate with the book. While reading the book you receive a more personal feel for the adventures and changes Ernesto and Alberto come in contact with throughout the journey. While watching the movie one receives the visual of what was discussed in the journal.
In Miller’s Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, we find a post-apocalyptic world that is plagued with miserable living conditions and riddled with an unquenchable thirst for gasoline. This strange world’s currency is not based on a monetary system, but instead, it is based on deals and contracts. This kind of contract based world leads to discrepancies between characters and most of all these deals give us a look into how trustworthy each character is. Usually, if a character makes a deal that he knows he is not willing to keep, then that character is one of the least trustworthy characters in the story, and if a character follows through with his deal, then that character is usually a trustworthy person who will be noble throughout the story. As we delve into the bowels of this
The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best fighter pilots train to refine their elite flying skills. When Maverick is sent to this school, his cocky demeanor and reckless attitude put him at odds with other fighter pilots. Maverick faces many challenges throughout the course of the movie. Action, humor, and drama are the leading factors as to why I believe that Top Gun was the number one movie of 1986. If it wasn’t for these three characteristics, I would not enjoy this movie.
Comparing “American Sniper’ Reviews The movie “American Sniper,” based on Chris Kyle bestselling book by the same name, received wide ranging reviews from critics. Chris Kyle is considered the deadliest sniper in American history, earning him the nickname “The Legend” by other soldiers. The movie takes place around the politically polarizing Iraq war. The Director of “American Sniper,” Clint Eastwood, was a speaker at the 2012 Republican National Convention. The many polarizing factors surrounding this movie might make it difficult for would-be movie goers to get an accurate review of the movie itself.
In The Shawshank Redemption, a film directed by Frank Darabont, Friendship is a prominent theme that is explored throughout the story of Andy Dufresne, Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding and their imprisonment and subsequent friendship. Darabont uses a range of techniques in this film to convey that theme of friendship, such as lighting, dialogue, music/score, Camera angles, mise-en-scene and camera shots.
The conflict in the film revolves around Max and his bully Linus, who believes his dreams to be childish and idiotic. Linus - called Minus on Planet Drool - acts as the main antagonist, trying to spread the darkness across the planet and corrupt the dreams Max has created life from. Linus steals the dream journal, vandalizes it, and sends Max’s world into a state of darkness and destruction. Consequently, people begin to lose their memories, they’re no longer allowed to dream, and the world is falling apart around them. This is why Sharkboy and Lavagirl seek out Max, in desperate prayer for him to save them from this corruption.
I have decided to write about the movie Cloverfield because the scenarios remain etched inside my head. I can replay certain parts of the movie, especially violent or gory scenes, vividly in my head over and over again. For example, the part that is the most clear to me is when Marlena claimed that she did not feel well which led to being taken away and restrained by paramedics. She was dragged behind a curtain and just basically popped and blood just splattered everything. That scene made me cringe for a few minutes because it was so shocking. The reason I think this happens is because of the gross and violent scenes incorporated into this movie. In the beginning, a group of friends and acquaintances gather together to host a goodbye party
George Miller’s movie Mad Max: Fury Road showcases a post-apocalyptic society filled with degraded social values and beliefs. Miller’s movie is a reflection on our society if we were to continue on this chaotic path. For example, a majority of the people in this post-apocalyptic society have some sort of disease. This physical disease is a representation of the disease of the society. To clarify, this post-apocalyptic society is filled with consumerism and greed.
Mad Max: Fury road Analysis Survival, The primary theme of Mad Max: Fury Road is survival and maintenance of mankind in the face of apocalyptic events. The theme of humankind is outlined by Max starting the film a non-domesticated wandered, at that point rediscovering his previous dignity by joining forces with Furiosa. Miller is telling a symbolic story, not a linear one. That story happens to be about war and its aftermath, slavery, the objectification of human beings, and PTSD. The medium he uses to tell this story happens to be an action movie, more specifically a car chase.
Moreover, the storyline is based on a post-apocalyptic Australia set background. Along with the Australian locations, there’s the Australian director and the cast and crew members, including the talented Margaret Sixel who won Oscar Best Film Editing Award, John Seale who was a retired cameraman, recruited by Miller for MM:FR, then got nominated for Oscar Best Cinematography, Colin Gibson won Best Production Design and David White who won Oscar Best Sound Editing and et cetera. These aspects not only prove Mad Max: Furry Road is an international Australian film, but also has brought Australian films globally ,representing the country’s promising industry with 6 Oscars, becoming the most successfully Australian film in history.
Christopher Nolan is a well known movie producer, with his name associated with films like the The Dark Night, Inception, and Interstellar. His newest film that was released over the summer was the film Dunkirk, a movie that portrayed the evacuation from the French beach of Dunkirk, which was under Nazi occupation, during the Second World War. I believe that this film is worth reviewing as a form of public history, as the name Dunkirk is usually something that is known by the general public in its association with World War II. However, this movie could be a way for the general public to learn about the events in Dunkirk, without having to open a textbook. I saw this film myself when it came out over the summer, and I had to say that I was impressed with how the
The Fast and Furious franchise produces films that often receive a lot of critique; some might call it a spectacle for the eyes, but not the brain. Others may deem it a bad movie because it lacks a sophisticated plot or superb acting, but this is what makes the newest installment of the franchise, Furious 7, so good. It doesn’t pander with complicated, airtight storylines or bog the viewer down with redundant vocabulary and complex symbolism. Furious 7 realizes and accepts that it is that summer blockbuster action extravaganza, and that’s exactly what it strives to be. It doesn’t try to reach into other genres or change the dynamic of the action film. It is very clearly your tried-and-true, off the wall action movie. There are two scenes in Furious 7 that are significant in establishing this classic summer blockbuster style movie: the first scene being when Dom and Letty arrive at the race wars (starts at roughly 3:57) which establishes what kind of film the viewer can expect to see. The second scene that is of exceptional significance is when Dom and his crew are attempting to get the God’s Eye computer program out of the car in Abu Dhabi (starts at about 1:16:42). Both of these scenes contribute greatly to the concept of Furious 7 being solely an action movie and they do this
This research paper focuses on describing a significant analysis of the cinematic techniques used by Darren Aronofsky, the director of the film Requiem for a Dream (2000), to ensure adequate conveyance of message to the prospect audience. The paper centers on five primary cinematic techniques: mise-en-scene, cinematography, narrative, editing, as well as sound and music. The film Requiem for a Dream (2000) amounted to the director’s second property film – after Pi, which came out in 1998 – and also his rank as an auteur commenced to advance from that incidence. The film encompasses significant anecdotes pertaining to Aronofsky engaging in a skipping task with Marlon Wayans along the Coney Island’s boardwalk or even purchasing ice cream in the
