The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best fighter pilots train to refine their elite flying skills. When Maverick is sent to this school, his cocky demeanor and reckless attitude put him at odds with other fighter pilots. Maverick faces many challenges throughout the course of the movie. Action, humor, and drama are the leading factors as to why I believe that Top Gun was the number one movie of 1986. If it wasn’t for these three characteristics, I would not enjoy this movie. Top Gun is composed of many action scenes, but there are three in particular that make watching the movie enjoyable. The very beginning of the movie is one of my favorite action scenes. Maverick and Goose fly into the air to prevent an attack from happening to their fleet ship. Once they are patrolling the area, they spot enemy planes swooping in for an attack. Maverick gets missile lock on one of the foreign planes, and the enemy backs off and flies away. They then invert the plane and fly right on …show more content…
I believe Top Gun to be the number one movie of 1986. This movie has one of the highest domestic gross incomes, and it was also nominated for four Oscars. Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis are another big reason as to why the movie should be ranked number one. They did a phenomenal job playing their roles. The very first time that I watched this movie, it instantly became my favorite because it had so many different aspects to it. The action packed scenes keep the viewers guessing as to whether Maverick is going to die, due to his reckless and risky flying. The humor that was in this movie will be hard to forget because it’s so funny. Drama helps keep the tension building, and actually makes the viewer pay attention to the movie. The action, humor, and drama are the leading factors as to why Top Gun is the number one movie of
Napoleon Dynamite is one of the best movies portraying loneliness and nerds. It is the story of Napoleon in high school and his lonely adventures. All the main characters feel separated, misunderstood, and have nobody to relate to. Napoleon has no friends and lives in his own fantasy land. He is avoided by everybody. His brother seems to be mislead, wanting to be a cage fighter but staying home all the time hopelessly trying to find love and attention on the internet. Their grandmother is never there for them, though she lives her own life right beside them. They live next to a huge field, reinforcing their isolation. Practically every home in the film is
In “The Sniper” the conflict is man vs man, which means main character is tasked with killing his enemy, but it proves to be quite a challenge. Even though there were many challenges the sniper followed through with his job and persevered even after he was shot in the arm. Wanting to kill his enemy, stay alive, and be one step closer to ending the war was his main goals. Being brave, he took off his hat, placed it on his gun, and raised it above the edge of the roof. Instantly the enemy shot at it and the sniper, pretending to be dead, waited until the enemy got up for him to shoot him. He did some quick thinking and, with determination, handled the conflict quite well.

Identify specific elements of a motion picture that film studios look for in a successful movie.
The Battle of Midway was a very complex battle; Symonds beautifully orchestrates this in his novel. This battle was definitely the turning point of the battle of the pacific, even the entire World War. Many aspects played a key role in deciding who won The Battle of Midway, and this battle was one of the main aspects in deciding who won World War II.
...this really portrays the realism of war. Overall the use of de-saturated film and handheld cameras is an effective way of portraying the film. It does not only portray the film but also realistically portrays war. Scenes which are sometimes horrific or disturbing to watch give us a tiny insight in to the horrific scenes of war. I feel this is the most realistic war film without actually being there. Spielberg successfully took this film to new levels with not always showing brave and noble men. Spielberg has reached the limits of modern film with his effects and constant persistence to find realistic effects. The opening scene is like a starter of a meal or a taste of what is about to come. It shows how these men are brave but scared. I think the film portrays the diversities of emotions experienced by the men. Overall I think this is a realistic and effective film.
5. The B-52's were bomber planes developed in the mid-20th century used in the Cold War and shown in Dr. Strangelove. Its appearance in the film featured Major Kong (pilot) and his crew as they lead themselves to release the first bomb on the missle complex.
The first scene of the movie is the mid-air refueling of a fighter plan, where the refueling is depicted as a sort of sexual intercourse. The movie then shifts over to Burpleson Air Force base where General Jack D. Ripper, played by Sterling Hayden, gives his planes flying over the USSR the order to attack.
The events that were portrayed in “Black Hawk Down” drastically affected the U.S.’ foreign policy during the 1990’s. The U.S soldiers went into a country in East Africa called Somalia. They went into the one city, Mogadishu, to capture top lieutenants of the warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The mission was only supposed to take an hour, but it ended up lasting the entire night into the next morning. It was a short war that the U.S. never wanted to get into.
A good movie has many factors for it to be a great. Movies can end up being terrible or great depending on how well these factors are done. In my opinion the factors that make up a good move is a good story , an interesting cast of characters , and a very good and satisfying ending. A good movie needs these factors so that the movie can be memorable and enjoyable. Though if all of this is done in a wrong way the movie will be forgotten and will probably make you want your money back. These are the factors and they should be used as guidelines whenever someone is making a movie.
The film tells the story of a deranged United States Air Force general who orders a first strike nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. United States Air Force Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper who was the commander of Burpelson Air Force Base, launches a planed nuclear attack on the Soviet Union via his nuclear-armed B-52 fighter jets, which were holding at their fail-safe points, to move into Soviet airspace, based upon a twisted paranoia that the communist party was contaminating “our precious bodily fluids”. The movie follows the course of events proceeding General Jack D. Ripper’s ordered attack.

Casablanca is considered one of the most amazing movies by a large number of movie lovers. Indeed, it is an undisputable classic that has earned itself an everlasting place in the minds and hearts of many people all over the world. However the film is not content with such straightforward heroism, though, and so Rafe is seen fighting not only at Pearl Harbour but also in the Battle of Britain (as a member of the Eagle Squadron) and in the Doolittle Raid. There are many other ridiculous aspects to this simplistic film. However because the film was made for entertainment purposes and has many major and minor inaccuracies the marketing campaign sparked the public’s interest, and the film earned $135 million at the box office. Source 6 was used to compare the actual docudrama to the film which proved that the film hardly had any connections to the actual attack such as the tension it caused to the government and how many hours it took the president to even make the smallest decisions instead the film portrayed Roosevelt standing up to prove a point. Eventhough the docudrama was not made to be compared to the film; it still showed that the film was not historically
Nelson Mandela was one of the greatest leaders of our time. In the movie Invictus, the devotion and love he had for the South African people is exemplified. The movie was named after a Victorian poem that brought President Mandela strength while in prison. The meaning of Invictus is “Undefeated”, a perfect fit for this movie. The opening scene of the movie shows President Mandela being freed from jail and driving past a field of young boys playing soccer. All the boys start chanting the Presidents name and running to the fences to get a better look. This is the first scene, and an obvious show of support and following for Mr. Mandela. Throughout the movie there are many different styles and approaches of leadership shown. Not only is President
