It's something you never hear a doctor talk about: Proper nutrition when you have lyme. But, it's very important. When you have lyme, your immune system works hard. If you are fighting your foods, you have inflammation in your body, you are just run down, you can't fight it off well. Lyme, like all other bacterial infections can and has been successfully fought off by healthy individuals. Lyme isn't exactly new. It's been documented for at least 100 years. So, why now? Well, we've reached a tipping point in health where people are sick, really sick all the time. That makes it easier for all illnesses to spread. In addition, lyme comes with several other bacterial co-infections that help it hide. These co-infections were something that people …show more content…
Doctors used to prescribe these veggies for measles because it's the one thing you can give a small, sick child that has no side effects and actually works to defeat the disease. Green leafy vegetables we now call weeds - dandelion, teasle, astragalus, knotweed Niacin rich vegetables - parsnips, winter squash Fermented foods - the better probiotics you have in your gut, the better chance you have at balancing the bacteria in the rest of your body. It allows our immune system to work where it's needed: fighting the lyme, not bad bacteria. Notice these are all vegetables and healthy foods. Now, don't go out and collect the weeds without knowing what you are doing. That's a good way to find yourself dead. But, many of these weeds are now available in stores and farmer's markets. Water also plays a critical role. When you are dehydrated, your blood and joints are thickened. Your immune system works harder to fight infections. Plus, your energy is too low to for you to do all that you want to, and fight the infection. The more water you drink, the easier it is to for your joints and blood to stay plump and

On December 15, the patient comes in for his check up. The physician tells the patient his blood test was positive for Lyme and prescribes the patient antibiotics. However the patient now tells the doctor that he is still experiencing the weakness and fatigue even after the doctor’s advice. He also says he is having slight trouble swallowing foods and speech has become slurred and nasally at times. Due to the patients broad range of symptoms, the physician suggests the patient either get an electromyography o...
...nter of Disease Control and the most common vector transmitted disease (CDC). In 2013, it was estimated by the Center of Disease Control that 300,000 people were infected with Lyme Disease every year. B. burgdorferi, or subspecies of it, are found on every continent of the world, in more than 80 countries (Lyme Disease Association). In the United States it is endemic of the Northeast and upper Midwest, with 95% of cases from 13 states (CDC). It is classified as an Emerging Infectious Disease, which means that it is showing an increase in the recent past or is changing (Tortora, Funke, Case, 417) .
...per steps are utilized when outdoors. Always be aware of your surroundings for you and your pets. Summer months are the most dangerous and easiest times to come in contact with a tick and later result in Lyme Disease, but it can be caught at anytime. Remember that signs won’t become apparent for at least one month. Be cautious when outdoors by using repellants and reapplying when and if needed and visually inspecting yourself, animals, and surroundings. Make sure you aren’t unknowingly carrying the tick inside your home. When inspecting your clothes, always use heat to kill any remaining ticks even if undetected, check body thoroughly, and shower after being outdoors. Pay attention to early warning signs that can easily be brushed off as flu. Early detection is key in curing and treating this preventable disease, and preventing further damage to neurological system.
The human body is estimated to be about 60 to 70 percent water. Blood, as well as your muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a high percentage of water. Water is extremely important and essential to our health (Kaushik, Mullee, Bryant, Hill, 2007). Dehydration is one of the most common side effects of not consuming enough w...
A disease is transmitted in one way or the other. Lyme disease is transmitted through a vector. The vector of the disease is an infected deer tick. The deer tick has to bite a person to spread the disease. When a deer tick bites a person (sucks blood), the Borrelia burgdoferi bacteria is transmitted into the persons body.
In conclusion, Lyme Disease is a growing problem in the Northeast and Midwest United States. It is important that if you have signs of Lyme Disease to get tested, and to regularly check for ticks. Lyme Disease is so easily prevented, and with the public having a basic knowledge on ticks and the disease the yearly cases of Lyme should easily decrease.

Hats off to bacteria! This article summarizes that bacteria are good for our body and help us function a lot better. Bacteria live in our guts, in our mouths, and on our skin. Overuse of antibiotics has disturbed the bacterial ecosystem, possibly so much that it is irreversible. In 1999 Lawrence Brandt a professor of medicine and surgery at the Albert Einstein College of medicine had success when trying to help a patient combat diarrhea induced by clostridium difficile. A patient developed diarrhea after taking a course of antibiotics for sinusitis; nothing could shake her C.difficile infection. Brandt reasoned the initial antibiotic treatment had killed gut bacteria that promote digestive health; not knowing which strain to replace, he transplanted stool form her husband. That night she reported marked improvement- for the first time in six months. This procedure has helped patients, but hopefully in the future doctors will be able to administer the particular strain of bacteria that is needed. 99% of the bacteria we harbor are resistant to culture in the lab. It was this impossible to study bacteria until the last decade or so, when DNA sequencing techniques allowed researchers to obtain gene sequences from as little as one bacterial cell. With this researchers found that bacteria cells in our bodies outnumber our human cells. Bacterial exposure throughout our lifetime is needed for our wellbeing, thinking, and functioning, contributing to conditions such as diabetes, obesity, allergies, asthma, and atherosclerosis, as well as to anxiety and mood and cognition disorders. These conditions have become more prominent because of our obsession with sanitation has eliminated the exposure to bacteria humans used to routinely get throu...
Drinking more water will keep people healthy and energized, by just drinking a cup a day.
“Drinking water is like washing out your insides. The water will cleanse the system, fill you up, decrease your caloric load and improve the function of all your tissues.” – Kevin R. Stone --
Water is a very important part of the human body. Not only is it something that hydrates us, but it is all over the inside of our body. Without it, we couldn’t live more than five days at most. Blood is more than eighty percent water. More than thirty percent of our bones are made up with water as well. Water does lots of work for our bodies, as it distributes and carries the nutrients that are needed to cells. Examples include glucose or minerals.
70-75% of muscle cells consists of water and about 10-15% of fat cells consists of water.
Did you know that 80% of your immune system is in your gut? Eating, or in this case drinking, probiotics can help balance the delicate system in your gut and help your overall health.
