Loyalty is one of the most important virtues that somebody can have. If someone is loyal then people can put trust in them to get a job down or stand by your side if there is trouble at hand. The next virtue is happiness they say the key to life is happiness and that saying is true because if you are not happy then you can't enjoy things in life also it would be hard to get along with your peers around you. And the final virtue is responsibility. Responsibility makes the world go round. The reason I say this is if the men and women with the super high up jobs did not take responsibility and blew it off then we’d have problems. Back to loyalty, loyalty is more of ethos because ethos is like trust and credibility so loyalty is basically the
One cannot help but think about how these principles can be utilized in one’s personal dealings. Loyalty, decency, and lifting up of your fellows are wonderful ideals to strive for in friendships, marriage, and in the rearing of children. It is difficult to think of any place in our lives that these ideals would NOT be applicable.
Loyalty, integrity, and perseverance are the supporting structures in life. Inegrity tests one's morals, and it is frequently tried. Loyalty is a virtue that only some posses. Perseverance takes discipline to have. Odysseus' test reveals aspects in life that one can only understand when tried in the test of life.
There are several core values I appreciate most. The first one that stood out is an adventure, which is defined as “new and challenging opportunities, excitement, risk”. For some people, adventure always represents tough challenges and high risk with low return. They prefer a stable job because they can earn guaranteed wages without
Being in the military I have came across a number of different leadership/management styles and tried to adopt some of those that I thought were effective. The values that we hold in the military are expected to be at a higher standard then our civilian counterpart. This is something that I do not take for granted and try to live by our core values. The core values in the Air Force are what guide our organization and something that I have tried to represent my whole Air Force career. “In May 1995, then-Secretary of the Air Force Sheila Widnall, and then-Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Gen. Ronald Fogleman, established the Air Force Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.” If you as a manager can abide by these values while supervising your people, no matter how many that would be, then morally you can feel like you did your best as a manager.
In the science fiction novel Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury introduces the universal theme of loyalty and continues to emphasize the pros and cons of what Relationships and pacts are simultaneously broken and developed throughout the novel; Montag experiences these interactions with static characters: Mildred, Faber, and Beatty. Mildred ultimately betrays Montag when she is afraid of his commitment in books; he attempts to openly spark a passion in their relationship. Faber, once afraid of fireman, befriends Montag because he feels it is the “right” thing to do; he follows Montag to the brink of danger, believing in what is correct. Beatty was considered “a [my] friend” and ultimately pursues to arrest Montag for defying the strictly enforced laws. Loyalty is defined by the breakable bond held by individuals; Montag experiences this natural humane connection as the novel progresses. Ray Bradbury expresses loyalty throughout the novel through the affiliations with Mildred, Faber, and Beatty.
Donald Menzel states that building an organization with integrity requires leading with integrity. One should be able to perform a duty without fear and without favors. Integrity, as Menzel explains, is defined by sound moral character, being respectful, and wholesome. Menzel describes not only what guides integrity, but how to build an organization with integrity over the course of chapter 3 and 4. Menzel begins by defining integrity, how to show integrity, and what integrity looks like among employees, organizations, and professionals. He then discusses the 8 principles of ethical conduct and how managers must act in this manner to demonstrate and lead by example. After defining these terms, Menzel discusses different types of leadership and how to build on each type. Menzel continues, in chapter 4, to discuss tools that organizations can use to in order to build and maintain organizations that display integrity. As Menzel moves into chapter 5, he describes management across different cities and counties and discusses ethical issues that have presented and how each was managed. Menzel continues to use life experiences in these chapters to help demonstrate not only what can happen, but what can happen if the wrong choice is made.
...s of the golden rule along with doing your best and loyalty. This virtue is also important in many other religions. Next is li, which has two meanings. The first is the proper etiquette (especially in social situations) and also brings back the idea of ancestor worship. The last two virtues are zhi, which is wisdom and xin, which is fidelity and integrity. It would be difficult to look upon these ideals in Confucianism and be able to relate them to ideals and virtues in other religions.
Respect is important; however the most influential values I learned were kindness and the power of knowledge. As a kid, I was taught to work hard and have fun later; we were not allowed to leave the house to party or go out unless we had all our homework done. This meant learning to think critically and efficiently in order to do great work in a small amount of time. My parents dropped out of college so that they could give my sisters and I opportunities they didn't have, for this reason I have learned the value of har...
One of the most important components of leadership is the leader. A leader is responsible for his or her followers and the overall goal of the group or organization. Leaders are the people held accountable or everything that happens, good or bad. On the other hand, the second major component of leadership is the followers. Without followers, a leader would be worthless. Followers make up the backbone of a leader because they are the masses that get goals accomplished. A leader is just one person, but the number of followers is countless. In order to be an effective follower, there are a countless number of characteristics that allow a follower to be the best they can be. Five of these characteristics include a positive attitude, communication skills, being part of the process, being open to new ideas, and patience.
Loyalty is defined as a strong feeling of support or allegiance. I agree fully with this definition. Being loyal is one of the most important of th...
According to Sternberg (1999), memory is the extraction of past experiences for information to be used in the present. The retrieval of memory is essential in every aspect of daily life, whether it is for academics, work or social purposes. However, many often take memory for granted and assume that it can be relied on because of how realistic it appears in the mind. This form of memory is also known as flashbulb memory. (Brown and Kulik, 1977). The question of whether our memory is reliably accurate has been shown to have implications in providing precise details of past events. (The British Psychological Association, 2011). In this essay, I would put forth arguments that human memory, in fact, is not completely reliable in providing accurate depictions of our past experiences. Evidence can be seen in the following two studies that support these arguments by examining episodic memory in humans. The first study is by Loftus and Pickrell (1995) who found that memory can be modified by suggestions. The second study is by Naveh-Benjamin and Craik (1995) who found that there is a predisposition for memory to decline with increasing age.
Finally, the most important quality I value most is caring, loving, and being there for others. People who do not have these qualities tend not to live a good life, but others who can show these characteristics live a happier life . The only way to care for others and being there for them is loving yourself
its time. The second virtue that stuck out to me is industry. Lose no time be always employed in
Different cultures place varying values on loyalty to the employer. In some countries, most notably in Asia, there is a high degree of loyalty to one company. However, in most European countries and the United States, loyalty at ones employer is not highly values; instead it is considered more rational and reasonable for an employee to change jobs whenever it is warranted to achieve the optimal overall career. Both of these positions have advantages and disadvantages.
The value I strongly believe in is integrity. My definition of integrity is simply doing the right thing all the time, even if you could do the wrong thing without repercussions. But as the dictionary states Integrity means firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values, or otherwise known as incorruptible. A man with integrity makes a good leader, with great pride. Someone with great integrity is never going to lower their pride in the self image of themselves.
