Love and Jealousy
Love and Jealousy within' "The Withered Arm" becomes a very appetent
and large factor in the novel. I believe the essay title "Love and
Jealousy are powerful emotions means and shows how love can often form
the evil and selfish jealousy, and how it easily it can change people
and make them paranoid furthermore make then act out in a outlandish
behaviour this is why I feel the essay refers love and jealousy to be
some what of 'powerful emotions.'
Brief Summary of the story
Withered arm is a story of love and jealousy, the basic plot of The
Withered Arm is that Rhoda a middle aged woman once had an affair with
a rich farmer known as Farmer Lodge. After sometime after of the
affair ending Farmer Lodge meets a young and beautiful woman called
Gertrude and ends up marrying her.
Rhoda and Farmer Lodge have a son which they have to keep secret to
hide up their previous relationship. Rhoda finds out about Farmer
lodge new love and uses his son to gain information about her, as soon
as Rhoda finds out about the beauty of Gertrude, Rhoda becomes
exceptionally jealous of Gertrude as she is young and beautiful and
everything Rhoda isn't now, furthermore she knows any hope of Rhoda
getting back together with Farmer Lodge had vanished when Gertrude
appeared of the scene, this jealousy had come to such a breaking point
that to the result of this during a night Rhoda had a real to life
nightmare of Gertrude being in her bedroom, the jealousy of Gertrude
exquisiteness had been too much for her to take and caused her to
fling this image of Gertrude off her bed.
To Rhoda's amazement she later fi...

Rhoda may have done this act to make Gertrude less desirable to her
husband and perhaps and make her self more in the running for Farmer
Lodge's love.
It is not clear whether there was actually love involved; when Farmer
Lodge married Gertrude. There is doubt that love is really the reason
why they were attracted to each other to form this bond; Farmer Lodge
may had married Gertrude for her prettiness and on the other hand
Gertrude may have married him for his wealth.
Gertrude is the one the key characters in Withered Arm; she brings a
lot of jealousy, and shows an excellent example on how love and
jealousy and can change people and make them perform actions that
wouldn't generally do. Gertrude was once married to Farmer Lodge, when
this relationship ended it was clear that she wasn't over him.
The “Tell-Tale Heart” is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe and serves as a testament to Poe’s ability to convey mental disability in an entertaining way. The story revolves around the unnamed narrator and old man, and the narrator’s desire to kill the old man for reasons that seem unexplainable and insane. After taking a more critical approach, it is evident that Poe’s story is a psychological tale of inner turmoil.
Subtext: Abigail threatens that she “will come to you in the black of some terrible night” and “will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you.” She claims that she has “seen some reddish work done at night,
Relationship between the birth mother and the child. This bond is strongly formed during the gestation period. In class we watched a video, In the Womb, which went in great detail of the different points that Professor Struckmeyer and the book discussed in relation to the gestation period and birth of an infant. It is known that the mother and child are sharing many of the same resources that are necessary for
The decision to end a life is a difficult one no matter the situation presented. It stirs a great deal of emotions when thinking about a loved one choosing to die in situations where they are terminally ill. Death is a scary thought for most people, but we need to remember that it is just a fact of life, no matter how morbid it sounds. There is some dignity in ending a life for a patient is who terminally ill and suffering, although it may be a tough decision, it can sometimes be the right one.
Poe presents the narrators of "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "The Cask of Amontillado" as devious, obsessed characters. Both are overpowered by the need to consume the life of their victim. Though they use different strategies to carry out the murders in different ways, obsession is the driving force in both. It is this obsession that inspires them to design cunning strategies and carry out the executions.
Often billed as a story of an unsuccessful attempt to beat Nature at her own game, “The Birthmark” by Nathaniel Hawthorne certainly lends itself to a somewhat deeper interpretation. Over the years many scholars have noted that the story of Aylmer and Georgiana is riddled with traditional Hawthorne themes such as the evils of selfishness and pride, coupled with an element of solitariness (Arvin xvi). However, we are want to consider whether Aylmer’s motives in this story are purely selfish. Does this man perhaps deserve a touch of human sympathy?
It's not love that is blind, but jealousy. In this beautiful small town of Venice, there is moor and his beautiful wife Desdemona, and the evil Iago, Roderigo, and Cassio. Othello is married to the beautiful Desdemona. He is an honorable man he was loyal to Venice, he was the general of an army. All of a sudden he started to act different, he started to change because Iago had told him that his wife Desdemona was fooling around with Cassio. Othello believes Iago because he trusted Iago, the same way he trusted everyone. Rodrigo had found out about Iago's plan to try to ruin Othello's life, so the two started to work together because Rodrigo was jealous that Othello had Desdemona and he wants her, Iago was jealous of the fact that Othello was trusted too much with many things, he was jealous that everyone loved Othello. So Iago planned everything out He planted things and messed with people's minds to have everything go down. Jealous is everywhere because you might want something that someone else has, you might wanna be just like someone, you might just want something just for yourself that you believe anything
Later on, after the story continues and she marries Joe, which is also mentioned to give her the idea of the horizon, making her think she would have more chances, turned out to be the opposite because he didn’t treat her properly either. The ambition and the jealousy that he has, is probably the reason why he changes in the story in a really surprising way.
She is not known as the green-eyed monster for her love and tenderness. She is not known as the green-eyed monster for her selflessness. She is not known as the green-eyed monster for her purity and sensitivity. Jealousy is known as the green-eyed monster purely for the reason that she is a monster. Not only does this demon have the ability to control one’s sense of reality, but also tear apart happiness with her long, sharp nails. Jealousy will use its revolting, fiery breath in order to burn the good in someone’s heart into a worthless pile of ashes. However, jealousy does not stop there. She crawls inside one’s head, whispering its manipulative thoughts repetitively to the point of destruction. After jealously has spoiled the brain rotten,
The study takes into account the numerous negative effects both on the "Would be Lover," and the "Rejector"(p.377). The negative effects on the "Would be Lover" include, Heartbreak, Anger, and Humiliation, whereas the effects on the "Rejector" also include Anger but also Guilt and Scriptlessness. Unrequited love deals with a social relationship between two people many if not all of the eight overarching themes in social psychology are observable in the behavior of the couples.
The reason for this essay is not to persuade the minds of its readers. However, what I do intend to do is introduce to the readers the philosophical words and powerful confidence of Archbishop Romero. First I will give a brief but detailed introduction of Archbishop Oscar before explaining why I feel Oscar Romero in regards to previous course lectures, group discussions and the book “The Violence of Love” by James Brockman; is an ethical prophet in the tradition of Hebrew prophecy in the eighth century B.C.E. I will also discuss and summarize three elements of prophecy that I feel applied to Romero’s courageous role in life during his time. Lastly I will include a subjective response around a select few of quotations by Archbishop Romero and discuss how his challenging and demanding words altered the way I see ministry today.
Nothing beats the idea of living a prestige lifestyle. Evelyn Nesbit was a young talented girl who climbed up the social ladder through capturing attention of many well-known men in the early 1900s (Gottschalk, 2008). Two of the men Nesbit was associated with were Stanford White and Harry Thaw (Gottschalk, 2008). Thaw's insanity caused the life of White (Gottschalk, 2008). Many seem to agree Nesbit is responsible for Thaw’s death. However, evidently, Nesbit is merely a victim of the situation. The influences of older men, her mother, and society brought upon a death that was out of her own control.
Jealousy, whatever it may be driven by, can produce many different actions in a person depending on their desires. Othello craftly examines a few examples of these with highly contrasting characters driven by vastly different things. The different manifestations of jealousy in said characters can be analysed through the characters of Roderigo, Othello, and Iago, while also proving how jealousy can sometimes be a front for more cynister feelings.

Hate, a passionate dislike for something or someone, has taken part of every war in the world, whether it is a political or civil one. Macklemore, the rapper of the song “Same Love”, uses powerful lyrics and imagery in many of his songs. It is in “Same Love” that he raps about a social issue that the world has been dealing with since, some could argue, the beginning of time. In the song “Same Love” he uses his rap to speak to everyone who can make a change in this world. “Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis bring awareness to the unjust issue of homophobia by giving people the information they need to obtain a voice and stand up for humans who have had their rights stolen.
