Every day, a person’s focus should remain on their goals. Goals are meant to challenge us without over-stressing ourselves, whilst also bringing us one step closer to our next objective. The long-term goals one sets for themselves should strictly be about what they want from their future. Medium-term and short-term goals should provide less challenging steps to turning the life goal into a reality. In order to set those goals, you must take the time to sit and think about what it is that you really want.

However, academics is the current priority. By the end of my senior year, I am going to graduate in the top 10 of my class. I currently stand around the top 15% and have some ways to go, nevertheless hard work in junior and senior year will not go without compensation. Dropping my rank so swiftly will take phenomenal grades in all areas and without any doubt, copious amounts of ambition.

My ultimate long-term goal that every action for the next two years should lead to is acceptance into the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Commissioning into the air force has been a plan of mine for years now, and the AFA is the best path to do so. The Academies are extremely difficult to get into, with an acceptance rate of 12.3% as of 2016, the AFA is one of the most competitive schools in the nation. This class has ruined honor roll students habitually and will be one of my greatest challenges this year. It is my objective to finish the class with a 93% or better. It will be imperative to keep up with the heavy workload, as well as quality preparation for every assessment. Adamantly, I will conquer this class.

Likewise, I am going to finish this year with my name on the 300 club plaque. My sophomore year, on one of the PT tests with the raiders, I scored 274 out of 300 with perfect scores in pushups and situps, and a mediocre 2-mile run. It will take regular training to maintain my two scores of 100 and even more so to drop my 2-mile time by almost two minutes. This goal will be achieved before the end of this school year.

In addition to 300 club, I am going to win Iron Man this year by scoring the highest on cadet challenge in January. The events being tested will be curl-ups, pullups, v-sit, shuttle sprint, and 1-mile run. I have no difficulty maxing out the first three, however my shuttle sprint and mile run are my weakest scores every year. By focusing on cardio, leg endurance, explosive power, and sharp turns, I will be able to improve those scores significantly.
