Has your breath ever smelled so bad you're ashamed of even talking and have to cover your mouth? Listerine is an antiseptic mouthwash that has been around since 1879. It was made by Dr Joseph Lawrence & Jordan Wheat Lambert and is used to prevent and reduce plaque and kill bacteria between teeth while leaving your breath fresh. The advertisement for "Listerine" is highly effective because through the influence of logos the ad provides a positive and helpful impact on woman and men hygiene. The advertisment provides a vivid picture including a drawing of a sundae filled with food like french fries, ice cream, orange juice, lemon, and some candy. You can notice from a first look that there is so much going on and might leave the reader confused
on what is going on if you know nothing about the product. On the other hand, if you do know or have heard of the product you know automatically have an idea of what the advertisement is trying to say or what the message is. It also contains phosphorescent and obscure colors and has the background of the ad white so when you're looking at it, the milkshake is the one thing on there that is striking up at you. The message was straightfoward,"What will your mouth go through today?" and the message helps the reader think about what the product is, the message and the ad. On the left bottom corner they give you a picture of the product of how it looks like, shape, and size. At first when looking at the ad I didn't understand the reason behind the message, but later got an idea of what it could mean. I thought the idea of putting a variety of food in a milkshake was very creative and it certainly had my attention when first looking at it. Listerine did a great job in my opinion by putting there message out there because when I look at the ad I think it must be really good considering if with one mouthwash you can take away all those foods that have been with you all day. It makes you want to know more about the product and what else it does, if it works really well, how much it is and so on.

Of course we cannot stop there, but it is a good place to start. The advertisement starts off with how a soon to be couple (spoiler) met. As predicted, Sarah drops her books and Juan helps here. However, after this moment, the advertisement takes a new turn. Sarah offers the guy a piece of Extra Gum. Now, why is that important? This is important because Sarah uses that piece of gum as a gateway to get past the initial social awkwardness when you first meet someone. One of the most eye catching ads on television lately has been an add done by Extra gum, called Origami Crane. It was created to sell Extra gum by connecting it to peoples everyday lives. This ad is a commercial that lasts a little over a minute, and yet has the ability to connect to peoples lives so easily. The main reason the add has the ability to connect to people so well is because it targets families, more so towards the daughters, and fathers of these families. The ad shows that the company who creates extra gum, does have families in mind while making ads. Not only did they keep their add family friendly, which at times can be difficult to find, they actually focused their ad more towards simple, everyday families while still having the ability to draw other people who don’t have families in.
The advertisement targets adults who want a sweet and delicious snack for their families. The producers of the ad knew that parents would buy this product to keep their little ones happy. It also targets children who have a sweet tooth and will ask their

Analysis of an Advertisement We live in a fast-paced society that is ruled by mass media. Every day we are bombarded by images of, perfect bodies, beautiful hair, flawless skin, and ageless faces that flash at us like a slide show. These ideas and images are embedded in our minds throughout our lives. Advertisements select audiences openly and subliminally, and target them with their product. They allude to the fact that in order to be like the people in this advertisement, you must use their product.
We see them in the subways, bus stops, magazines, and television, but what do they mean? How do they manage to catch our attention? Advertisements often find ways to sell their products by psychologically manipulating people. The advertising industry makes us envious of others and convinces us to be unhappy with what we have (Valko).
Hygienist are the dentists who educate their patients on the importance of oral health care. Hygienist examine any chipped tooth,damage filling,discolored or swollen gums, and also take x-rays, and help prevent tooth decay. Today, dental care focuses on prevention. Preventing tooth decay and related problems is the main job of a dental hygienist. As generations pass, not many people are fully aware of the downside of not properly taking care of their pearly whites. This topic was brought to my attention by noticing the lack of dental hygiene among my peers. This doesn’t necessarily just mean having only cavities, sore gums, but also bad breath.
Listerine created a market for mouthwash in the 1920’s when they marketed it as a solution to chronic halitosis. However, in 1983, a new feature was added in which Listerine also fights plaque making it more desirable for consumers concerned with dental hygiene. Today, it continues to fight bad breath, and plaque having 70% of the total market share. According to Johnson & Johnson’s 2012 Annual Report one of the positive contributors to operational results was international sales of Listerine oral care products.
The demographics of this advertisement are to adults 18 years and older. Human health is in danger because of smoking tobacco and the effects it has on smokers and the people around them. This is a picture of a cigarette that is burning with the ash and smoke in a silhouette of a crawling human. The advertisement is mostly black and white to give a contrast and give it more of a meaning to it. There are no words on the ad but they aren’t needed because picture paints a very clear meaning. Black is used as the main color to create a very negative tone. The color black symbolizes death and evil which gives a negative connotation. The woman herself is photo shopped extensively and is posing in an extremely awkward manner. Her face is clean of acne and she has rosy cheeks. Her lipstick is dark red, her eyes extremely wide with eyeliner and eye shadow, and she has short blonde hair. As Naomi Wolf suggests the media often times portray woman in such a way that woman feel, as though they should look like that. Woman may be subjected to this once more as the maker of this advertise has portrayed what they think society finds sexy, and thus certain women may feel as though they need to look like her. Then there’s the entire aspect of the phallic shaped burger right in front of the woman’s wide-open mouth. The end of the burger fades into darkness making its origins unknown. This could be suggesting that girl’s will perform oral sex no matter who you are as long as you have a large penis. To highlight this false truth further, there is a spotlight on the woman and the fading burger, which makes viewers look at that part of the advertisement first and is what governs the rest of the advertisement. In the bottom corner the full burger is showed with a lighter colored background and if this was the only part of the advertise, the sexual innuendo would have been extremely hard to get. Television commercials are television programming produced by any organisation to provide message in the market about their product or services. It is one of the most popular methods to attract customer and provide them information about their products or services.
For many years, beer has accumulated the mainstream idea that beer is typically consumed in the party-type scenes. It has also created a popular thinking that young men that drink beer are manly, wild, girl-loving, partying individuals. Recently, however, it has seemed as though beer companies have begun to stray away from that way of thinking and have begun forming a new ideology. That being, that beer is an alcoholic beverage that can bring people together to have a good time. Guinness has taken this way of thinking and pushed it even further. With this ad, Guinness wants to show that men who drink beer can still be manly, but also sensitive, sympathetic and supportive at the same time. They show these qualities through the actions of the men playing the basketball game.
The advert alongside is simple and straight to the point. It contains very few details but extremely large content by the choice of words and graphics. At a glance, one can know, without reading the text, what the advertisement is all about. The advertiser has used a cartoon image as opposed to a real person image in the advertisement. This however does not mean that the advert is meant for kids or people who love cartoons. This step is always taken to reduce detail and avoid viewers over dwelling on unnecessary aspects of the advertisement. The setting is also plain. The background has no more information. The advertiser’s has employed the use of this strategy to ensure that the viewer does not miss-associate the advertisement.
