The movie I chose was very interesting and very entertaining. This movie was about chess—a game about smarts and staying a step ahead of your opponent—Life of a King. This movie is slightly predictable, but intriguing. It is based on the true story about an ex con artist Eugene Brown who turned into a youth mentor for a bad school. The drama throughout this story was very intriguing however it was predictable. Intense to a certain extent, the movie hits all of the notes that will be told for the background information of Eugene while also inspiring young adults. Eugene does not take the money and walks away. Eugene attempts to restart the chess club, but they refuse to play outside of detention. Peanut changes his mind and goes with Eugene. Eugene eventually rents an old run down house in Washington D.C. for the chess club. Clifton and Tahime come to the chess house to get Peanut. Tahime refuses to stay involved with Clifton. Eugene convinces Tahime to compete in a chess tournament, but Tahime has problems with his mother. Tahime returns and wants to play in the Washington D.C. chess open tournament. He begins to study chess from a book and practice relentlessly. Clifton eventually gets in trouble he cannot handle and see not everyone is there for him. Tahime tries his best in the contest, and his results were not expected. However, Tahime gets a standing ovation from his supporters in the crowd. A representative of the Urban League gives her card to Eugene. One of the competitors, Gaines, tells Tahime "That was the first time I 've been scared all year." The content in this movie is appropriate for ages 14 and older or a mature crowd. I say this because some of the things shown in the movie is for a much more mature audience. Although the level of violence seen throughout the movie is low, there is some scenes shown with people using and distributing drugs and alcohol to adolescents. There is no nudity or sexual content throughout this movie. The outstanding cinematography shed a positive light to the intense movie. Furthermore, the choosing of the actors and actresses in the film play an important role. I say this because Cuba Gooding Jr. really embraced the character he played. By doing this the audience was drawn in more because of the emotions he portrayed. More positives about this movie was the ordering of it. Life of a King built up from the beginning and gave the audience something to look forward to in the end. The build up of this movie is enjoyable because it keeps the audience on their seats as the movie progresses. Furthermore, cinematography plays a huge role in the scenes even with the little things such as the attire the actors wear during each scene. The film does this well throughout the movie. For example, the clothing choices accompany the scene that they played in appropriately. Considering the fact they were in a low income neighborhood it was understandable for them to not be dressed in high end fashion. All of these
