20 interesting facts about life in the middle ages.
Until towns were established people lived in manors a manor was a mansion owned by a noble with a town and farmlands around it, the noble would provide protection and an area to live in exchange for food goods and other things from the locals.
Three groups were established there was clergy which consisted of priests and popes there were the nobles who were rich people. And there were the commoners who were people who were farmers and shop owners.
Towns had walls around them to protected the locals from villagers
Store owners in the middle ages lived above there shop

The government of Rome had collapsed and was no more instead there were small religious governments.
The Christian church had an enormous amount of power over the people even the king and queen listened to the pope or priests The manor was the lowest building block in the pyramid of the feudal system. At the very top was the king. The local manors were at the very bottom.
The local lord or noble was pledged to protect his village. He was also pledged to help the noble above him. Many manors were pledged to the same noble. A group of manors could combine forces and be led by the noble above them in order to protect their people from attack. Whether you lived in a manor in one of the growing towns, daily life in the Middle Ages was very religious and often violent. Daily life reflected this in the way people lived and how they protected themselves.
The king was the heist noble in the land.
If a king gave out a fief to you-you would playland taxes and would have to provide soldiers when they were needed.
