Large for gestational age (LGA) is a medical term that describes a baby's size. An LGA baby is bigger than other babies who are the same age. LGA can describe a baby still in the mother's womb or a newborn baby. If the baby is still in the mother's womb, the baby is considered LGA if the baby is bigger than 90% of other babies who are at the same week of pregnancy (gestational age). If the baby has been born, he or she is considered LGA if he or she weighs more than 8 lb (3.6 kg) and 13 oz (0.4 kg) at birth.
An LGA baby has a higher risk of injury during birth and complications after birth. Risks and complications to the mother include:
• Prolonged childbirth.
• Vaginal tearing.
• The need for a cesarean delivery.
Risks and
complications to the baby include: • Birth injury, such as a shoulder injury. • Breathing troubles after birth. • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) after birth. • Yellow skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice) after birth. • Developing blood sugar problems or diabetes later in life. CAUSES There are many different factors that can affect whether a baby is LGA, including: • The mother developing diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes). • The mother having diabetes before becoming pregnant. • A prolonged pregnancy. • The mother's pre-pregnancy weight. • The mother gaining more than 35 lb (15.9 kg) during pregnancy. • Genetics. • The age of the mother. RISK FACTORS A baby is more likely to be LGA if: DIAGNOSIS Your health care provider will watch you carefully if you are more likely to have an LGA baby. In order to tell if you may have an LGA baby, your health care provider will: • Keep track of how much weight you gain. • Check the size of your uterus. This is done by measuring from your pubic bone to the highest part of your belly. • Perform a fetal ultrasound to estimate your baby's weight. TREATMENT HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS If your health care provider thinks you may give birth to an LGA baby, it is important to make sure you get good prenatal care. Make sure to:

The historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are fledgling to compete with Predominately White Institutions (PWIs). HBCU were established to serve the educational needs of black Americans. Before HBCU college was create blacks were generally was denied admission to traditionally all white institutions. Since black Americans was prohibited from whites schools HBCUs became the principle means for providing postsecondary education. There are several reasons why all blacks’ schools does not compete with predominately white schools. HBCU’s most of the time do not keep their accreditation, their tests scores are very low, and do not get as much funding

If you were a soldier of the Continental Army during the winters at Valley Forge, would you have quit? The Continental Army was an army of militiamen that was created by the Continental Congress. The soldiers and generals in the army had little to no experience, and they lacked supplies such as quality clothing, proper shelters, and sufficient food. The Continental Army was led by George Washington, one of the best generals in U.S. history, who taught the soldiers almost everything they knew. On October 1777, British General Howe brought his army of 18,000 redcoats into the national capital of Philadelphia. Consequently, Washington decided to move his army to Valley Forge, an area just 18 miles from Philadelphia, to keep watch on them. It just
Age wrinkles the body, quitting wrinkles the soul. Many soldiers are quitting Valley Forge and are sometimes called summer soldiers or sunshine patriots because they leave if it gets hard but returns when it gets easy. Valley Forge happened in the winter of 1777 to 1778. The camp was very close to starving. The camp was set up 18 miles outside of Philadelphia. The doctors used live chicken pox on healthy soldiers to try to get the body to reject the chicken pox symptoms. In 1773, 310 streetlights were installed in Boston. I have decided to not re-enlist for three reasons which are: sickness, the conditions, and the deaths.

“I am Sick - discontented - and out of humour. Poor food - hard lodging - Cold Weather - fatigue - Nasty Cloaths - nasty Cookery - Vomit half my time - smoak’d out of my senses - the Devil’s in’t - I can’t Endure it - Why are we sent here to starve and Freeze…” Valley Forge, the hell of the American Revolution. The American Revolution was a war between what is now known as the United States, and Great Britain, in which the United States were fighting for their freedom. The reason for British inclusion was that they needed the colonies (the United States) for resources and for taxes. Three years into the American Revolution and it’s Winter, 1777. General Washington needed somewhere secure to relocate his army for the Winter. Enter Valley Forge, a military camp in Pennsylvania. If I had a choice of either staying in Valley Forge for the Winter or returning home, I would not have stayed in Valley Forge for the following reasons; sickness and death were rife, the living conditions were horrendous, and the continental army was running out of supplies. The soldiers
While a woman is generally safe from complications from gestational diabetes, there are some very big risks to the baby. If gestational diabetes goes undiagnosed, there is a greater risk of stillbirth. Other complications can include a condition called macrosomia, where the baby is born weighing 9 ¾ pounds or more. Excessively large babies can make delivery more difficult for both mother and child and as a result, birth injuries are more common in these babies. Other problems include hypoglycemia in the baby shortly after birth. The risk of gestational diabetes is higher in women who are over 30 years old, have a family history of diabetes, are obese, and those who have previously had a macrosomic baby.
There is no doubt that the particular layout of space of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition reflected the gender inequalities that existed within American society at the time. In particular, the Women’s Building offered a microcosm of the prejudices that dominated the overall landscape of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. Although the men who organized the Columbian Exposition were unable to exclude women’s achievements altogether from the exposition, they were successful in relegating them into a bounded unit that overwhelmingly categorized their contributions as different and marginal, framing womanliness as “soft,” “delicate,” and “refined.” Discussions of the Women’s Building’s architectural aesthetics highlights such gendered dimensions of the Columbian Exposition quite clearly.
...side begins to grow and develop at six weeks the baby is only five eights of an inch in measurement. As the months go on the baby goes thru many changes as well as the mother and her body. Throughout my first year in middle school I have really started taking great thought into my future. I have realized that I am getting closer to my adult life and that I need to start to plan for the type of future that I wish to have. As much as I enjoy team activities, I do think of myself as more of a leader and would like to go about planning my career in this way. I am determined to go about things at an advanced pace which is why I believe I should be part of the National Junior Honor Society.
I believe that I, Christine Kuykendall, am a good candidate for a spot in National Junior Honors Society. I hold all of the core values, I am an all A student, and I love helping in the community. I am also a very hard worker and I believe that I can do great things in National Junior Honors Society.
During the sixth week of pregnancy the crown-to-rump ( referring to the length of the baby from the top of the head to its bottom, this term is used because it 's hard to measure from head to toe because the babies are usually curled up with their legs tucked under.) length of the baby is about 2-4mm long. At this point in the pregnancy some of the facial features are now visible even the mouth and tongue. Also the outline of the jaw is starting to
