Several lessons have been learned through the beginning of the senior design project. We have learned team building lessons, including team interaction, organization and team roles, through many trial and error situations. Issues of project management also have taught me very important lessons that will help me in the real world when I must deal with administrative authority.
As a team, we have never set specific roles for each team member, but rather naturally feel into our own roles. I, personally, have become a sort of optimist or gate keeper. I try to make sure everyone feels their opinion is heard and that everyone gets equal say in the design. I also watch to make sure that no one feels their toes are being stepped on by watching people’s mannerisms during the meetings. I also have become somewhat of a meeting coordinator, in the sense that I contact all team members to find a time and location to meet that fits everyone’s schedule. Our method of each team member taking the role that suits their personality best has come naturally, but I think there would also be some benefit in changing the roles so that each member can prepare for real world situations. When in the working world, I may be asked to lead a team, which is a role that is very unnaturally and unlike my personality, but the experience of learning to lead in a group like this would greatly benefit me when I have to lead in the future.
This project involves several aspects that really interest me. I plan on going into radiology, so learning about magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from an engineering perspective is very interesting. I also enjoy applying what we have learned about tissue mechanics from Dr. Criscione and Dr. Humphrey into building an actual device. However, I do not like the added challenges of building such device inside a MRI. The space we have to put the device and the requirements of non-magnetic material have made the design process more intense that I expected.
I have also learned that I need a specific project completely outlined by a project manager to be most effective. Dr. Wright is an excellent project manager, but he has given a lot of the design requirement and specification decisions to our team. This leaves the limits of our design open-ended; therefore any design in my mind still seems incomplete because we could always add another aspect to the tissue conditioning.
Mac, Seth Rogen, is portrayed as a male who feels emasculated and is trying to regain his masculinity by defeating Teddy and the rest of the fraternity to move on with his life and raise a happy family. Although I may not have touched on every single male character, as there are a lot since it was a fraternity, the movie excels by portraying different qualities and traits in the other actors. I enjoyed this movie because it was comical, and although there was a conflict between two male parties, it didn’t necessarily resolve in a physical fight which many films has resulted to. This leaving a comical impression and people enjoying each of the characters a little bit more and seeing them as who they are and not what they look
The primary roles that were incorporated into group were defined by the leaders of group. Those leaders included the social workers and group psychologists, as well as students when appropriate. The leaders focused on task and maintenance roles, such as; coordinator, elaborator, evaluator, information seeker, initiator/contributor, opinion giver, procedural technician, encourager, gatekeeper, harmonizer, and standard setter. The individual roles was primarily the dominator. Due to the dominator portion of group, it changed the atmosphere and will be discussed later.

The Constitutional Convention was undertaken as an attempt to fix the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation by drafting a new governing document - the Constitution. Naturally, there were several debates about how the Constitution should address the prevailing issues at the time. The framers present at the Constitutional Convention did purposely leave some issues unresolved in the summer of 1787 by leaving some ambiguity. However, the purpose of this ambiguity was to allow some room for the new nation to grow. This statement is exhibited by the many compromises and events concerning slavery in the following years, the debates that occurred after the ratification of the Constitution concerning the exact powers granted to the federal government
In addition, one analysis, in relation to abortion problems, states, “from 1988 to 1997 found the risk of death increased by 38% for each additional week of gestation, during the pregnancy.” (Jones). “Such studies rely on information from many countries and include legally mandated registers hospital administrative data,” so current research affirms that an induced abortion increase the risk of different physical consequences, such as breast cancer, placenta previa, and maternal suicide. (Bachiochi). Late term abortion not only affects the mother’s condition physically, but also psychologically. Although not all women respond in the same way, some of them develop diverse mental disorders leading to suicide after they received an abortion. Studies in Canadian newspapers show “a suicide rate of 34.9 per 1000” from women who experimented an abortion, in contrast to “a suicide rate of 5.9 per 1000” from women who gave birth to their babies. The same newspapers report “a rate of 5.2 per thousand hospitalizations for psychiatric
There are so many events that change one’s life that it is rather difficult to try and decipher which of those events are most important. Each event changes a different aspect of your life, molding how one’s personality turns out. One of these events occurred when I was about twelve years old and I attempted to steal from a Six Flags amusement park. My reasoning for stealing wasn’t that I didn’t have the money, or even that I wanted what I stole all that badly, it was that all of my friends had stolen something earlier that day and didn’t get caught. After getting caught I resolved, because the consequences are just not worth it, never to steal or give into peer pressure again.
As a team, our second team leadership role is that of a Summarizer. We're all good recorders/communicators seeing as how everyone takes notes on team progress, team decisions, and any assignments that need to be completed in the future. We created an agenda for the team and at the end of the group meeting the recorder of our group would then distribute copies of the responsibilities we equally share across the team to each team member.
In the globalized economy, Successful project managers are in much demand across many industries. Organizations strongly need experienced project managers to lead their staff to accomplish their business goals and deliver successful projects. In an increasingly complex environment, project managers need to turn into many roles and have all kinds of responsibilities at each level of management within an organization. Good project managers are not born. They need to be trained. They develop their skills through study, practise and experience. They become better project managers after they finish a successful project each time. They learn new techniques and apply them on their projects. They learn their lessons from failed projects and then improve to be better project managers in the future.
Life is filled with lessons, and often times there are little reminders to keep those lessons in our minds for later use. Sometimes lessons learned in life are learned the hard way, like in Cole’s instance. One of the lessons Cole learned is in order to heal he must first right his wrongs; stop blaming those around him for his problems, and to forgive. To Cole, these were just cliché sayings repeated on and on by others around him who didn’t trust. He always brushed these words aside thinking he could do everything on his own and life only revolved around him. After being mauled by the Spirit Bear and having to survive on his own, he began to open his eyes for the first time. He began to grasp it was not anyone’s fault but his own he was stuck in his position. Cole finally started to recognize if he held on to his grudge against his father he would never be able to let go of his horrible past and start living again. Most importantly, Cole learned he could never live with himself if he did not help Peter Driscal. I think this life lesson Cole learned will forever be symbolized by the Spirit Bear. Without the bear, Cole would have never learned integrity and being trusted is real power, not the fake power of freighting people into doing what he says.
I have learned several valuable things from this project experience. First, it’s okay to not know how to do something right away. Ask, observe and experiment. Doing so will greatly enhance my ability to do it correctly and continue to learn. Second, I learned that this can be an experience in frustration if I always try to not make waves. Sometimes waves need to be made to better the project. And third, watch for similar frustrations with my students and intervene before it gets too serious.
Recruitment is the discovering of potential applicants for actual or anticipated organizational vacancies. It makes possible to acquire the number and types of people necessary to ensure the continued operation of the organization. In simple terms, recruitment applies to the process of attracting potential employees to the organization or company.
Each member is comfortable in finding their place and can feel a sense of belonging within the team. As a team member, I portrayed the roles of a team player and a researcher. I may not be the brain of the group, but I was very eager to help and became a reliable member that follows-through on tasks to resolve conflicts. Also, I became a researcher too, at some point. I formulated various questions and gathered the information and data from the group. According to Sussex (2013), a researcher “is always asking a question and then finding their own answers.” She also stated in her blog that a team player is someone that the team could rely on because they are eager to help and resolve a conflict in a very calm way. I based my personality as a team member according to her seven types of a well-rounded team member in her blog. Each team member has different tasks to do. In our team, we focused on what the content should be and briefly discussed about the structure of the mind map. My biggest contribution would be completing my task, being creative and being able to contribute purposeful ideas to the team. Through teamwork, I learned to develop my strong points and found a way around to my
When planning a new project, how the project will be managed is one of the most important factors. The importance of a managers will determine the success of the project. The success of the project will be determined by how well it is managed. Project management is referred to as the discipline that entails the processes of carefully planning, organizing, controlling, and motivating the organization resources so as to foster and facilitate the achievement of specific established and desired goals and meet the specific criteria of success required in the organization (Larson, 2014). Over the course of this paper I will be discussing and analyzing the importance of project management.
Most people do not know or even realize the psychological risks that follows after aborting. It is said in Physical Dangers Associated With Abortion, researchers found that 44% of patients complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor only 8 weeks after their pregnancy termination. It is also said that 60% of women experienced suicidal ideation, post-surgery, of the percentage given, almost 30% actually attempted to kill themselves and then kept trying (Physical Dangers Associated With Abortion). Just knowing a few of the psychiatric effects that could potentially happen should make anyone cringe. Along with nervous disorders, sleep issues, thoughts of regret, and suicide, aborting is also linked with alcohol and drug abuse, PTSD, and relationship problems. “Catherine Barnard, who studied 80 women who had all undergone abortions at a Baltimore clinic three to five years earlier. Using standardized measures for PTSD, Barnard found that approximately one in five women (19 percent) met all the criteria for diagnosable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Approximately half had many, but not all, of the symptoms of PTSD, and 20 to 40 percent showed moderate to high levels of stress and avoidance behavior
The sight of a mother cradling her newborn baby is a beautiful thing. The love in her eyes for her small vulnerable child is unmistakable. Women who have become a victim to abortion are not able to experience special moments such as these. Abortion impacts the health and well being of the women affected by it. It has become a common way for women to escape a difficult time in their life. At the time, abortion may seem like a good idea. Most women think that it will solve the current problem they are in; this is not the case. Abortion actually ends up creating more problems than the woman can solve. A large percentage of abortions are decided for social reasons; the baby is seen as a nuisance by the mother, she does not want people to think
