I’m a problem solver because videogames have taught me to stay to the very end, solve some puzzles, feel accomplished for beating the game, and sometimes have intriguing stories.
Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D taught me to play to the very end. It taught me this by giving the player bait of unlocking a new (and more difficult) game mode to play. The bait for this is even on the back of the game case. Beating the game is no easy task, the more difficult parts are: Water Temple, the double Iron Knuckle battle, and the second final battle against Ganondorf. When you beat the game you are welcomed to a lovely 2-3 minute end credits. But wait! If you stick around to the end of the credits, you get a screen that displays the message, saving please wait. Unlocking Master Quest mode.

People on the internet always commented that the Water Temple in Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time 3D was so very difficult. I did not take any chances so I used a strategy guide and the first thing that it had on the section was that it was so difficult because you had to go back to certain rooms later in the temple. I did end up beating it but, it was not that hard. I did not use the walk through all the way, I just used it when I was going,”NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!!!”.
Kind of repeating myself, beating the main game unlocks the Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D: Master Quest . And in turn gets you: A brand new title screen, three Master Quest files, the choice of the regular or Master Quest game, and two new file screens for each game mode. But to truly beat Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D, you have to first 100% beat the original game mode AND 100% beat Master Quest mode. And geting there was not easy, mostly because of the water temple. And that is how video games taught me to feel accomplished for beating a
In the film, “The Princess Bride,” directed by Rob Reiner, it all begins with a Grandfather telling the story to his less than enthusiastic Grandson. The story opens in the country of Florin with Buttercup treating her “Farm Boy” not so well, “his name was Wesley, but she never called him that. “Very soon she realizes he loves her and she loves him in return. He sets off for America “to make his fortune across the sea.” She later finds out that he and his ship have been murdered by the Dread Pirate Roberts “who never leaves captives alive.”
“Spatial skills are strongly related to competency in mathematics and science subjects.”(p.45) therefore actually increasing the intelligence of individuals whom play video games as well as their computational skills. Every day wasted living a routine-like lifestyle is another day down the drain, another day without adventure. The majority of all Legend of Zelda games begin with Link who had just awakened from a deep slumber and is laying in his bed. Link then proceeds to exit his comfy home and explore the kingdom that lay ahead.
...l endings of these works are both accomplished by their respective narratives. The quest trajectory pushes Odysseus from being a hero at Troy to being lost with his men. He then starts his quest to reach home in which he accomplishes through his wits and wiles. The restitution trajectory of the Gladiator stretches our emotions as Maximus starts out on top of the world and descends to the lowest order and is pushed to climb back up to the top in order to achieve his original goal of reuniting with his wife and son.
The goal of the game is to traverse a level consisting of traps and obstacles. The game relies completely on timing and rhythm; acting too quickly or sluggishly can end up destroying the icon, ultimately restarting the level. Most of the levels start out unlocked at the start, and can be played in whatever order the player sees fit.
...of those historical oral stories to the computer generated ones of today. Drawing from a mythological foundation, Zelda has won the hearts of many and quickly risen to the top of gaming charts. Whether it is gamers being enthralled by the backstory and creation of Hyrule, the danger of uncertain destruction, or the never-ending fight against light and dark, Zelda has a little myth to offer everyone. The idea of reality pitted against the unconscious and the conception of time reaches further than the confines of the game. People play videogames to leave reality for a little bit and explore a world that is not quite their own. Suddenly, they lose track of time and find they have been lost in another world much longer than expected. Zelda serves that function. It is the unconscious, timeless, and mythological story that acts as a passage from long ago into the future.

There have been several studies conducted on learning and serious games, for example, a recent study by the Office of Naval Research found that video game players performed ten to twenty percent better in perceptual and cognitive ability than non-game players, and that video games helped adults process information faster(Steinberg,2012). Another study by the Federation of American Scientists found that students re...
Solving problems is a particular art, like swimming, or skiing, or playing the piano: you can learn it only by imitation and practice…if you wish to learn swimming you have to go in the water, and if you wish to become a problem solver you have to solve problems. -Mathematical Discovery
There are several negative stereotypes associated with video games and those who play them; some of these may often hold true. However, there are plenty of learning opportunities in video games. While the direct purpose of some games is to educate or train, other games that do not directly have this purpose can still become a learning experience for the player. As Ntiedo Etuk, president of the educational video game company Tabula Digital said, “The traditional view of video games has been that they are distractions from the task of learning” (Electronic Education Report 1). Video games are an effective tool for learning and retaining skills both inside and outside the classroom environment. The basic cycle of game play--the introduction to the game, game play, collaboration, improvement of these between each round, and evaluation at the end of the game (Klievink and Janssen 159)--are nearly parallel to the traditional classroom learning cycle of reading a textbook or listening to a lecture, taking a quiz, studying, focusing on items missed on the quiz, and taking a test or exam. Within this cycle, there are many opportunities to develop and perfect both educational, life, and occupational skills.

One way in which video games can be beneficial is by supporting individuals’ intellectual development in the areas of problem solving and logic. Games like Cut the Rope, Angry Birds and The Incredible Machine require players to solve a puzzle under time limited conditions. When people are playing these games, they practice their critical thinking skills and creativity, which are both important components of intelligence.
