My current studies led me to having an interest in law, history and psychology. I started to research courses involving this type of work. As it would allow me to apply my interest and fascination to the world of work. My interest for law sparked when I went to a lecture during one of the university open days. I have read books such as 'Letters to a Law Student' by McBride which provided me with helpful information and preparatory knowledge. The areas of law I am particularly interested in are Family, Human rights, EU and Criminal law. A law degree can provide me with access to a variety of legal careers, it will also give me a springboard into a wide range of other professions. Studying subjects such as History, Sociology and Health and social care enable me to put these attributes into practice, and I hope to pursue a career involving them. The subjects I am currently studying relate to my course choices, and will most definitely enhance my knowledge of them. Studying history as an a-level has led me to having a greater understanding of the legal system as I studied some of the most significant pieces of legislation in the history of Britain and Ireland, including the Act of Union 1800/01 and the Roman Catholic Emancipation Act of 1829 I have completed various online courses associated with law provided by various universities. The course I found intriguing was Crime, Justice and Society which explained the role of the state and criminal justice interventions in producing safe and just societies. I have also finished a course relevant to psychology where I learnt how a psychological understanding of our emotions and behaviour gives us new ways to improve mental health and well-being. History and sociology in particular has developed my analytical and communication skills.
