A paralegal new to the field has many options as far as career opportunities. The paralegal field is thought to be a high paced glorious career of working alongside an attorney and getting recognition for their work. In reality a paralegal job is nothing like Erin Brockovich (A movie where a paralegal was able to investigate and played an immense part in winning a large case) envisioned from the movie. Becoming a paralegal is appealing because it allows a quick entrance into a professional career field and offers a wide range of daily and career experiences. However, the work-life balance can be poor, the career path often stagnates without continuing education, and the pay is insufficient for the work load. Also, while there are a wide range of paralegal jobs there is also competition and an applicant must possess the ability to step right into the role with little or no training. While expecting much of the work to be comparable to administrative work and document reading.
As I became more involved with campus life, I couldn’t find a way to immerse myself in preparing for a career in law. While I knew why I wanted a law degree, I couldn’t conceptualize what I wanted to do with it. Prior to college life, my familiarity with the legal system was by way of internships with judges and lawyers. Clearly, that traditional route perked my interest but not my passion. Living with the athletes affirmed my interest in their culture. I began to immerse myself in subjects surro...
My major is Paralegal Studies and I expect to graduate with an Associates of Arts degree in December of this year. Many years ago, as an investigator for both a private company and a county agency, I was introduced to the legal field. Recently, I was awarded the opportunity to attend college, so I decided I wanted to reenter the legal profession as a paralegal. The paralegal profession appeals to me, because I enjoy the processes of developing a case, as well as its legal aspects. A paralegal is involved in a case from the beginning to the end; from the initial client interview to assisting the attorney during the client’s trial or the settlement process. My goal is to become a paralegal for a solo practitioner or a small firm in my local area who represent clients in different areas of the law.
Attorneys ensure that society has a place to seek and obtain justice, giving confidence that restitution and retribution can occur within the law. Attorneys have a difficult job. They must know the laws like they know the back of their hands. Attorneys attend school just as long or even longer than most doctors. They have the difficult job of defending their clients or prosecuting the bad guys.
Before starting the paralegal program, I did not have a clear understanding of what a paralegal actually does. I always been interested in being a paralegal, but never clearly understood the full responsibilities. After being in this program, I have some understanding to the many responsibilities than I initially knew. The primary function of a paralegal is to assist attorneys in preparing for hearing, trials, meetings, and real estate closings. In addition, paralegals can also do other office tasks, such as office management as trainer of new hired paralegal, book keeping, and free lancing.

Criminal defense lawyers have to deal with many different circumstances. For instance, arrests, criminal charges, investigations, sentencing, appeals, and even post-trial issues. Criminal defense lawyers often have to work out substantive issues in connection with their clients supposed crime. Many times criminal defense lawyers will be helping a client even before charges have been filed against them by
Whether a person wants to hire an attorney, or an attorney plans to sign a new client, an attorney engagement letter is recommended before a contract is signed. This letter helps protect the attorney’s and client’s legal rights and obligations and makes the relationship clear before a contract is signed. An attorney engagement letter is required for: • A lawyer or law firm that is providing services to a business or individual • An individual who is contracting with a lawyer or law firm for legal services.
As an advocate, they will take on and represent one of the parties in criminal or civil trials collecting evidence and showing it and debating in support of their client. As an advisor, they offer advice and counsel their clients in what they believe is the best bet for them. Only thinking about their client best intrest at heart. They will do the research and apply the laws to the specific circumstances that the client faces. I plan on becoming a criminal defense attorney.
In Malaysia, political scandals are commonplace. It could be innocently hilarious and silly, or it could be tragically saddening and unjust. All these did not matter to me until reality struck me when I participated in a Human Rights United Nations Conference. As a delegate of Israel, extensive and careful research was required in ensuring logical and sound argument. In my research, I was devastated when I discovered that the world is a constantly recurring kaleidoscope of innocent lives suffering and lost due to leaders' mistakes and inefficiencies.
Law School Perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of the practice of law is learning to be a lawyer. Virtually every new lawyer today is a graduate of law school, a much dreaded, but fulfilling journey to practicing law. Modern law schools differ greatly from their earlier counterparts, in that many more requirements and responsibilities exist. In colonial times, students pursuing a career in law would enter institutions for instruction of the law, and would automatically become qualified to practice law in the courts after a few years of study. Today, however, becoming a lawyer takes much more training, rigorous work and effort, and many years of studying in order to take a bar exam, of which passing represents qualification.
