One thing I think needs to be changed at Crowder is the amount of control some teachers take over their class. No one wants a teacher that is excessively strict, but if the teacher is too lenient with disruptive students and cutting class short every day just to try to cram everything in half the time, it can turn the class into a bad learning environment where the ones who suffer are the students who are trying the hardest.
One example is a teacher trying too hard to gain approval of certain students, or trying to be buddies with them. The problem with this is that these students act more like they should be in middle school instead of college. They will more than likely take advantage of the situation and turn the class into a joke. One way they do this is with cell phones. In one of my classes the teacher was in the middle of a lecture when the student interrupts to exclaim, “I just hate when I snap chat someone and they don’t snap chat back!” This same student video tapes the class and posts it on the internet which is something I do not think should be allowed. Sometimes the stu...
... my classroom who always played on his cell phone, played games, and acted unprofessional in during school hours. He always plagiarized his essays in my English class and always received straight F’s and did not care one bit; this would be an example of a student who is not willing to be taught or educated. In fact, the student should not even go to the school if they are not willing to try and do their own work.
Some teachers do not allow any talking during class at all, even when students are just working independently. Students need to be able to collaborate with each other to help each other out and create new ideas. If a student says something that the teacher does not like the teacher can punish the student, an example of this is the case of Bethel v. Fraser; Matthew Fraser gave a speech to the school that contained offensive and sexual references and then officials at the school then punished him for saying those things (What are the free expression rights of students in public schools under the First Amendment?). The teacher can also send that student to the principal and the punishment could end up being suspension or expulsion. An example of this is one of my good friends was in his PE class a couple weeks ago, his teacher said something that he did not like. So he decided to yell back at the teacher, no one was in danger, the teacher did not like what my friend had said so he got sent to security and eventually go
There are a number of theories that influence the learning practices of children and young people. According to Cognitive theory of Piaget, children in their learning, go through different sequences and stages, are active learners. They use their prior experience and first hand experiences for learning, imitating and transforming their learning into symbolic behavior.
Classrooms of today are full of students with varying learning abilities and styles, therefore teachers are put in a position to involve each of their students equally so that everyone has the greatest chance of success in their learning. There are many different ways teachers are able to set up the learning environment in order to maximise teaching and learning and cater for the diverse needs of their students. I will attempt to discuss in detail some of these strategies and unpack the potential advantages and difficulties that follow.
When they admitted to the teacher why didn't understand something, the students that did understand would laugh, and mimic them. I literally watched them belittle a persons character. They made them feel less of a person. Those attitudes and actions from the students made the other students feel like they were stupid or dumb. All because they didn't catch on right away or as quickly as them.
As the economy slows down, jobs are harder and harder to find, getting an education is on one of the most important steps to help you in life. Having a master’s degree in your field can help you stand out from the rest when applying for a job and it’s easier than ever to earn your degree, as many colleges and universities have started opening master degree programs online but is that really the best choice? While earning your masters degree has become more popular due to technology growing rapidly, many majors need that essential “ in-class” learning experience.
I try imparting into them the importance of an education and how they contribute to the growth of our society. In my classroom, I am in control. I draw a clear line between what and how much my students are allowed to do in the classroom. In the first week of school, I establish my authority and I clearly and explicitly express my classroom and outside the classroom procedures that will be followed and the rights that every student has in the classroom. Some examples, all students have the right to learn, all students have a right to be heard, and all students have a right to be respected. There are consequences for those that chose not to abide. This set the tone for my classroom environment for the entire year so, that learning may take
In most campuses, speech codes are enforced. Students can get into trouble for what they say, what they post on Facebook, and even what they wear. Schools like Colorado College won’t allow embarrassing statements to be said about other students. Certain jokes or “inappropriate e-mails” are banned, and at times, the area where students are allowed to express themselves amount to a miniscule free speech zone, such as in the University of Cincinnati. Davidson College even prohibits students from asking other students out on dates. (“What Every Student Should ...
In a Year 8 Maths class, I witnessed the teacher moving amongst different desks throughout the lesson to check on the students’ progress on the task at hand. The teacher assisted help when needed and complimented their work by commending components such as their working out, their productiveness, and their accuracy. An example of negative reinforcement from my practicum experience was in a Year 8 Chinese class in which the teacher informed the class that they could play Kahoot!, an online educational game, as a group at the end of the lesson given that the behaviour persisted at an acceptable level. This induced the class to focus, get their work done, and keep the noise to a reasonable volume. Lastly, the teacher of a Year 8 English class instructed two students to leave the room for disrupting the class: a prime example of applying repercussions when needed. This was an effective action by the teacher as the rest of the class remained silent for the rest of the lesson in dread of joining the students
I've been assigned to a partner teacher that works with two Biology 30-1 classes and a single Science 10 AP class. Prior to starting I was a bit intimidated by the learning environment I was stepping into but as it turn out it was extremely informal and perhaps even laid back. For example, during the birthing lesson this morning one of the girls in class blurted out a question asking if it was "true that women shit themselves during pregnancy?" I immediately expected a serious tone from my partner teacher but she matter of factly explained the biology and mechanics behind why such things could occur before going back to her presentation. When questioned later my partner teacher explained that overreacting to the students action only gives them what they want and encourages more from her and her peers. Furthermore, while it was entirely feasible to enter and win a power struggle with the student in the process she would lose the respect of the students friends and the rest of her class.
Respectful of them, their opinions, and their standpoints. I have witnessed first-hand how hard it is to agree with someone who shows no respect for you and vice versa. It happens everywhere, and I have learned that as a future teacher, that respect is vital. In order for my students to learn, and actively engage in my classes, I need to prove to them that I respect them as a person. I have seen that in class where some students have little to no respect for their peers. In addition, I have also experienced that. There was one instance where me and a few other girls were targeted for voicing our opinions on an issue. We were told by another student that we were wrong. It seemed that he refused to actually listen to us and let it settle with him. As a result of this, he got no cooperation from us. We had basically shut down. We felt vulnerable and refused to say anything for a little while being scared that he would make us feel belittled yet again. With that being said, I know now that it is not only important, but essential to show respect to anyone and everyone, and also that you receive it in
Title: Virtual Learning Environment in Education. Motivation behind the study. Education is the one important thing where people will gain their knowledge. Education consists of many levels of ages and the delivery method in education varies. One of the ways that education is transferred through Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
In this chapter there is one main idea. The main idea is that there are nine additional parameters of Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) that are situationally appropriate. The key concepts for the second half of this chapter are the situation or event specific parameters identified by the authors. Herein each of the parameters will be identified and a possible classroom connection will be noted. In addition, a brief correlation to traditional and contemporary learning theories will be identified.
Second, end overcrowded classes, as population grows the demand of building more schools grow with it. In average, we should have six-hundred to eight-hundred students in each school. Nevertheless, some schools now have over one-thousand students, which make it very difficult inside the class room. In a big city like Raleigh the number of students is very large, and that leads to so many problems like making around year school, which have a negative impact on the students. Students will be able to understand more when there are fewer numbers inside the class room.
E- Learning in training has tremendous influence and foothold all over the world including in India and pushing them toward success. Innovative technology is the key that develops the human resource base to improving people’s lives. Rapid innovation in ICT is transforming the way employees work, the way they interact, and the way they learn and apply in their day to day work. Centred on information technologies and the power that they increasingly wield within the global economy, it can be asserted that e-learning has drivers that previous learning technologies lacked. E-learning is a result of both rapid technological change and a response to the changes happening in culture and society itself. This provides opinion to a wide range of stakeholders involved in extending the borders of enriched technology-enabled learning. Origins of e-learning in organizations can be seen reflected on the literature as a drive to stay ahead of competitors (Morris & Rippin 2002) but there are several other support models showing the clear role e-learning evolving within organizations. From 1996 to 2002 there have been several debates and arguments based on the evolution and to established the complexity inherent in the development of e-learning, in part due to different geographic, cultural and technical infrastructures. In spite of the above scenario, e-learning as a training tool is only now gradually approaching India and has been implemented only in certain large organisations but no traces of it are seen small or medium organization. E-learning is most commonly only seen in IT industry and MNC’s it has still not reached out to the public sector. Several models have been proposed to help the understanding of e-learning. These models are influen...
