A leader refers to an individual who has the capability of influencing others to attain an outcome that is desired. How leaders accomplish this is based in part on their style of leadership and involves various perspectives between different people. It is worthwhile noting that some leaders show a form that is charismatic whereas some exhibit a transformation aspect. However, as much as these styles of leadership are aimed at helping us to understand the leadership techniques of various people, the element of what makes a leader great is not addressed. Olson says that in February 1999, mistrust was a major incidence at the hospital organization and it posed a negative impact regarding development. Competition led to the uncertainty of the hospital’s future and due to poor leadership, it was not easy to attain space needs for diagnostics and surgeries involving outpatients (Olson, 2009). The board of directors of the hospital 0rganization together with the employees had greater anxiety in the non-supporting environment that entailed leadership in the Bay Area Medical Center.
Leadership transformation was very crucial to sustaining the reputation of the hospital that was growing to be negative. Thus, successful efforts in initiating the transformation were to bridge the gap of communication and gaining confidence by coming up and developing a plan that is strategic.

Introduction According to the Oxford Dictionary, a leader is defined as “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country” (Oxford Dictionaries, 2013). Though there is a definition for what a leader is, people still have different ideas about what a leader should be and how he or she should act. There has never been a concrete idea of what a leader is; the only thing we know is that this person is the one in charge of the unit. We look at characteristics of those people we see as leaders and use those attributes to compare other people to see if they are able to be as good as, or even better than, those aforementioned leaders. We have to keep in mind that in different situations, leaders must do different tasks which indicates the need for different qualities.
Like Klinger, Hitchcock agreed that in a managerial role is essential and performs a vital function, leadership must come first to make managing more effective. If management is efficiency in climbing the ladder, then it is leadership that determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. To help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate the permanent white-water environment safely, Hitchcock (2013) suggested that there are three constants that provide stability in times of great uncertainty such as a change, a choice, and principles. Leadership is a quality which cannot be acquired by any person from the other but it can be acquired by self-determination of a person. Leadership can best be called the personality of the very highest ability-whether in ruling, thinking, imagining, innovation, warring, or religious influencing. Leadership is practiced not so much in words a it is in attitude and in actions. Their actions leave a long lasting memory in the line of history and lead up to may events that occur today. To be a leader one will need many qualities. Leaders have a purpose and strategies to accomplish that purpose. They are driven and motivated. In the end they should be able to attain good results. These innate talents help to make up a leader that will succeed and be efficient in carrying out tasks. But, the purpose of this paper is determine what truly makes a leader successful. A successful leader should be considered more on their impact rather than their accomplishments of their organizations alone for they are not sufficient in determining the key to their success .
The leadership is a result of a combination of traits, with special emphasis on the personal qualities of the leader, which he should possess certain personality traits that would be special facilitators in leadership performance. This theory shows that leaders are born as such, there is no likelihood of 'making' them later with personal development techniques.
Why now? Why are we focusing on transformational leadership? Healthcare costs are continuing to rise. Some of the critical problems and active debates prevalent in many hospital organizations include the rapidly intensifying healthcare costs, funding and reimbursement cutbacks, and concern regarding the overall quality and safety of health care. “Healthcare systems have come under pressure to improve performance and manage productivity” (Botting, 2011). In order for a leader to be a leader, he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able to affirmatively influence “on others”. A leader needs to “believe” in himself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, to have some relevance to being in existence.
