What qualifications or experiences do you have that make you the best candidate for this position? I believe I am an excellent candidate for a leadership position because I consider myself a tenacious and responsible high school student. Having prior experience in leading has taught me many valuable skills and knowledge, I am willing to share with my peers. I believe a good leader should be respectful, strict, patient caring, and friendly. I consider myself all of these virtues with the all the prior experience I have gained. These experiences have made me a stronger leader through time. A section leader who is not only strict but kind can make their section strong and with a lot of potentials.

With these improvements, we will have a great year.
What are some things you would like to keep the same about band? I think our band has many great things. I would really like to keep the way we memorize our drill and how we have bonding time at the end of band camp. I would also like to keep the positive attitude because it really gives you self-esteem to do better. Another really good thing we should keep is the schedule for band camp, I think those times and days are great. Lastly, we should try very hard to always keep our band together and united.
Why do you want to serve band as a member of Student Leadership?
I would like to serve as a member of student leadership because I know I have the capability of improving my section and the band as a whole. I understand that that leadership is a big responsibility, but I feel completely capable. It would be an honor to be a section leader for the second time because I would love to show the knowledge I have learned through fails and succeeds this past
Band teaches life skills. Where independent thinking is the model in most academic classrooms, teamwork is essential in band. Band students learn to work with and for each other. The three R’s in band include Respect, Responsibility, & Reliability. Our students learn to appreciate one another for their individual talents and their contributions to the organization as a whole. They learn positive social skills –the most important factor in our program –where we teach such qualities as confidence, pride, and self esteem; all values that will serve these young people well throughout the course of their life. Citizenship, team motivational skills/leadership skills, time management, organization skills, dependability, and honesty are instilled into band members. Band teaches students to face challenges and strive to reach higher and higher goals.
They need to start acting like leaders instead of normal kids in marching band, especially for the younger players because essential leaders are role models. If leaders are goofing off while they should be serious the rest of the band thinks it could goof off too. If a leader does nothing but complain, people are going to follow in his or her footsteps. Leaders also need to help freshmen with their parts because a lot of them do not have confidence in what they are playing. Section leaders should basically be a teacher during sectionals. For example, I basically taught Nate how to play both shows and several other things and he is a way better player than what he was. Young players flourish when they are encouraged by older
If you made me the Drumline leader I would try my best to improve the Drumline as a whole. I would do this by helping other band members with whatever they were struggling with if that were a piece or maybe putting their feet to the music. I would try to help with any music problems including counting parts or playing accents at certain times and when not to. I would try to lift everyone up in a positive way if someone was struggling with something that day I would try to help them put that aside during Drumline or a practice to help them focus on Drumline because I know from experience whenever I have something that's really weighing down on me I go to practice and I think about that and it sets me up for failure. I might play a wrong measure and think I
What experiences have you had which prepare you for this position (e.g perhaps as an employee, leader, or working with people different from yourself, etc)?
I want to be sure that every single individual in The Force knows that they are making a contribution to the program and extending its legacy. Of course, a shiny trophy or a first place title is always nice, but a good show run-through triumphs over the “need” to win. I want to lead the band in run-throughs that make us feel as if placings don’t matter because we’ll know that we gave the best run we possibly could. If we are able to perform with this level of dedication, we’ll be winners no matter what placing or title we are given. This idea is one that has been prevalent throughout my career in band and one I hope to perpetuate within others by leading
A leadership theory is a clarification of some features of leadership; theories have practical importance as they are being used for better understanding, anticipating, and controlling successful leadership. Hence, the main principle of any theory is to inform practice(Lussier and Achua 2009). Leadership theories could be classified into eight main categories: Great man, trait, behavioral, contingency, Situational, Participative, Relationship , management (Cherry 2010).
It is impossible to fully comprehend the appeal to the Gulf Coast High School Band Room unless you are actually a member of the band. All members of the Gulf Coast High School marching band spend the majority of their time in the band room, which is like a second home for most. The room itself does not appear to be anything special. It is a large room with a high ceiling, bright fluorescent lighting, and pink and green padding on the walls. The hallway maintains a terrible odor which nobody can quite determine the source of, and the white, vinyl tile floor is covered in a layer of disgusting things one can only dream of. Still, for some reason it remains a haven to about twelve percent of the student body. At first glance, it does not look like anything special, but when you open that big, gray door and step into the “band world” it becomes clear that it really is an amazing and wonderful place. It feels like the center of the universe.
I believe the work ethic and determination I have acquired over my education and several years of work make me the most qualified to be
Leadership is not defined by position. Leadership is an extraordinary responsibility given only to those willing to exude selflessness, decisiveness, and wisdom. CSM William R. Hambrick, Jr is an accomplished leader that embodies the values, attributes, and competencies that I aspire to convey to my subordinates. The impact that CSM Hambrick has had on my career and leadership philosophy is immeasurable. His far-reaching legacy is one of confidence, sound judgment, and empathy.
I would say that we do a lot of things well in learning community. What I think that worked especially well this year is the small groups in the fall. I know that we’ve talked about this before, but I think it was a really beneficial change that was made. It made it easier for everyone to feel like they were a part of the learning community and quickly build strong relationships within the small groups.
A significant part of effective leadership is the close connection between the leader and the follower, which often determines the success of the leader's mission. Unfortunately, this leader-follower relationship cannot be created according to some simple formula. Young leaders of today face special challenges as they try to communicate and interact with their followers and potential followers. By exploring global perspectives, human diversity, and ethics, young leaders can take yet another step forward in their development and preparation for twenty-first century leadership.
This season was only the second year that I had been in marching band, even though we did do parades in middle school. The year before, I was selected to be drum major of the upcoming marching season. I was excited to meet the challenge of getting back to the state championships. It was also nerve-racking because I felt if we didn't make it to state, it would be my fault. To be truthful, later on I experienced both sentiments from some of the most influential, heart-warming, absolutely awesome friends that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. This would be the year that our band would adopt its slogan, its mission statement: Band #1.
So far, my favorite part of WPI is the a capella group that I am a part of. I am a part of the Ketones a Capella group, who invited me to join after the auditions (I auditioned for all three of the ensembles that accepted women). This would be my second time participating in an a Capella group; the first time was in the sixth or seventh grade, but I don’t remember it too well, so this experience still felt like a fresh and new start for me. I have really come to appreciate how different singing a capella is from singing with music. It’s a lot cooler to have every sound in the song come from the mouths of the people around you, including yourself, and adding up to form something amazing.
We started somewhat strong during pre production. We had a script, scene breakdowns, and started storyboarding. What I would’ve liked was more teamwork. I took charge and did most of the script and all of the breakdowns. While some of the members only really made some notes on the story and characters, or even just found simple photos on google for our character ‘sketches’. I also went out and bought the majority of the props and wardrobe. I didn't hate taking charge as it build leadership skills as well as raises my confidence with taking charge in future productions, but i would’ve liked the work to have been more spread out and equal.
Most of their answer was to be a leader most has a available and how he deal with staff. The leader should be good follower and responsibility about the work. Also should has a vision about the future.
