In 4th grade we were allowed 3 recesses a day. We played a variety of games including football, basketball, and baseball. We liked playing football the most and we played it pretty much everyday. At the end of the day, on our last recess, we were all worn out from the long day but we still started up a game of football. When the bell rang we went out on the field and started making team captains and picking teams. We would designate a quarterback on each team then everyone else would be wide receivers.Just imagine a bunch of 10 year olds throwing footballs as far as we could while the rest of us tried to run under it and catch it. Once or twice in a game we would throw a running back in the formation and run a toss, but not very often.
We
had been playing for about 10 minutes when I scored a touchdown making a great catch over a kid while he was shoving me the whole play. As soon as I scored he got up in my face and I told him to back off and chased him. He just kept running so I stopped because I wasn't going to waste my time running around the playground chasing him. We kept playing football and towards the end of the recess he got back up in my face talking a bunch of crap shoving me around. My dad always taught me not to let someone push you around and to fight back so I swung at him and hit him in the side of the head and he ran off and told the teacher. Then after the recess had ended I was called up to the principal's office, that's when I received the only suspension I have ever received in my life. He ended up getting suspended too and when I came into school that next day his face was all purple and blue. I’m not proud of getting in trouble but im glad he didn't try to mess with me again. Overall the trouble I got in showed me to let things go instead of instigating something that could've been avoided.
Football has been a big part of my life ever since I was a little kid. I almost always tried to play football when I could with my brothers if they weren’t busy messing around. During recess in grade school my class would try to start a football game and I would be the first in to be picked on a team. My first time being on a “football team” was in little league my third grade year and I’ve never missed a year yet now that I am a senior in highschool and I’m hoping to continue it in college. Football made the person who I am today, it changed me in many ways and affected how I am as a person.
From 2011-2017, 20.5% of children from 12 to 19 years old were obese. Supporters believe this is so because of unhealthy eating choices and not getting enough physical activity. The percentage of children with obesity in the United States has more than tripled since the 1970s. Today about one in five school children ages six through 19 have obesity. Not having recess in middle school is causing a lot less physical activity and that is causing a higher rate of obesity in America.
On November 9, 1869, rutgers university faced Princeton university in what is know as the first american football game. But there was many different types of football before american football. One type of football was mob football, where anyone could join any time they wanted. The field was a small town where each team would be able to do anything to in order to score, unless it ended in manslaughter or murder. Also the first footballs were inflated pig bladders.
Are teachers enforcing discipline mechanisms in a healthy way for children? Researchers would answer no to this question because of one major factor: removing recess from a child’s school day. In Jessica Lahey’s article, “Students Who Lose Recess Are the Ones Who Need It Most”, she states that “schools continue to take away recess privileges as a penalty for academic or behavioral transgressions”. Many teachers follow this procedure because they assume that they are teaching the child how to act with appropriate behaviors. However, it is a proven fact that eliminating a student’s recess results in a negative outcome. Therefore, recess should not be removed from a child’s school day because this recreation plays a role in their physical health,
Those hot days in those great summers football was my favorite pastime. I lived in a house with two sisters and no brothers the most close thing to a brother was my football some friends and the field.
According to Steinberg (2014) adolescents is a time of growing up, of moving from the immaturity of childhood into the maturity of adulthood, of preparation for the future. It is a period of transitions: biological, psychological, and social. Adolescence can begin as early as ten years of age and not end until the adolescent is in their early twenties. It is important to note that adolescent development occurs at different times for each individual. Therefore, students in the same grade that are around the same age may be going through different developmental stages of adolescents. The purpose of this analysis paper is to discuss the different stages of adolescent development, how they affect the maturity of the students and to determine
At around the same time College football was being started around the country, high schools were also getting in on the action. High school football was to be played similar to the way college football is played but with a few changes. The National Federation of High School Association (NFHS) decided to establish the rules that high schools were to follow. The NFHS decided that the lengths of quarters were going to be shortened down to 12 minute quarters rather than 15. The kickoffs were moved to the 40 yard li...

Can you imagine sitting in class for 3 hours straight not being able to talk eat or do anything except working? Middle school students need that recess time to take a break from all the work refresh their minds and regain focus for the next class, they need that time to study for a that big test the next class, they also need that time to simply hangout and have a conversation with their peers.
The first process of playing football is getting involved. It is actually very easy to get involved because there are various football programs offered to children as well as teens. To get involved in football you must have the will and dedication because of the amount of time football consumes through practice, meetings and games. People who become initially involved in football usually start early in life usually around nine or ten in peewee football and lasts until they’re thirteen. Even at this early stage of peewee, football is very demanding because of the time involved. This involvement is usually by choice of the child because of interest in football and parents usually don’t force their children into playing. Involvement in peewee football is due to the fact that children have a lot more time to play than young adults. Football is also economically feasible for most families because it is relatively inexpensive so football is not restricted in who can play by the amount of money their parents make. The team provides the equipment, with the exception of spikes and a jersey. The total cost of playing football is usually around $60.00 . Usually at the peewee level, you have 1-2 practices a week and a game every week. Also in peewee you have team meetings to discuss defensive and offensive strategy and sometime just to bond with your teammates. Usually this takes place once a week.
There were good things and bad things that had happened in 2016, but I’m only going to talk about the good things that happened. One of the good things that happened in 2016, is I got my second honor roll in 7th grade. I had gotten my first one the previous year. Getting honor roll was quite easy in 7th grade, mainly, because I was on a team that barely had any homework to give out. Then the tests would be quite easy, also, because I would study for them.
What is an ordinary childhood? I think it means being able to live a life full of imagination and wonder, without having to deal with real-world problems. My childhood was anything but ordinary. I lived in multiple cities growing up; however, Ardmore is where I primarily lived during the first 10 years of my life. The majority of this city is a lower-class society. Around here you either fought your way through or get caught in the trap of poverty and crime. Assault, burglaries, gangs, and murder are the main things associated with Ardmore. Don’t get me wrong this place isn’t as dangerous as places like Compton, but in my opinion, it was pretty close. My childhood memories revolve around the mental and physical abuse of my mother. My father
Though most recess time is not for organized sport, it still may provide the opportunity for students to become interested in a new physical activity. For instance, a child may have enjoyed an activity they participated in during recess so much that they continue the activity after school. The growing interest in certain activities has created new clubs and organizations. These opportunities are abundant for example, city wide soccer and baseball leagues for all ages and, school sports teams. Finally, a passion for a sport could turn into career. For example, a child may love a game they played at recess so much so, that they begin to practice every day. This passion could turn into a professional athletic career or even a coaching career that teaches the game. Recess activities could form a strong new passion for a
For as long as I can remember football has been a part of my life in some way, shape, or form. When I was first born my grandfather said that I was solid and built to play football. I used to throw the football with my mother when I was a toddler and she always told me that when I tried to tackle her I hit really hard. My first organized football experience was when I was five. I had just moved to Manassas, VA from Washington, D.C. in 1994. It was around fall and that was right at the beginning of football season in the area. I remember telling my mother that I wanted to play, so she looked for a local organization for children. She came across the Greater Manassas Football League (GMFL) and that is where I began to play the game I love.
The game of football is an essential determining factor that turns boys into men, and every boy at some point should learn to play the game. Not for the game itself, but for the things it teaches about working hard to achieve a goal and how to find another way to reach that goal if failure ensues the first try. The fundamentals of football were drilled into me as a three year old, along with tremendous off season workouts and being able to coach little league football and passing down my knowledge to others, are the key factors that lead to my breakout season and being one of the best players on the team.
