On a cold December night, I was in charge of a float that will be in Kingsville’s Christmas parade. The past few month, my team and I worked on the cannon that was suppose to fire and make as much noise as possible. We did the calculation, we got the materials, and we put it all together. It was about 8 feet long and 4 inches wide. We tested the cannon for 2 days and found it to be what we needed for the parade. We painted the cannon red and put a white stripe of tape to make it look more like a candy cane than a cannon. It looked and sounded as good as I wanted it too. However, there was one flaw. If we fired the cannon too fast, the carbon in the chamber builds up and will not let the oxygen get back into the chamber to be reignited. If …show more content…
Everything is going as planned and the wind was helping us clean out the cannon. Although, this corroboration did not last long. The drizzle was getting the inside of the cannon wet and more carbon was gathering inside the cannon. Eventually, we could not fire it as quicky as we needed to. So, we tried to clean it with a rag and blow into the chamber to get the carbon out and let oxygen in. As we came up to the booth were the camera was place to see the floats pass by, I made the decision to fire the cannon as we pasted the camera. We tried to clean the cannon as fast as we can, but the camera was coming up quick. So, I put it back in position and filled it with Axe spray and tried to light it, but the cannon said enough. I tried to fire it the way we always did, but it would not ignite. The announcer called our float’s name and we had to spot light, and I tried to light the cannon as fast as I can. I removed the cap from the chamber and lit the axe directly, needless to say, I should not have done that. When I light the Axe, the flames went back to me instead of out the barrel. It caused a fireball to come directly to me, and the decorations around me. It was not a huge fire, but it was indeed noticeable, and right in front of the camera. Of course, when this happened we played it off like it was a part of the act. My team that was helping me could not hold in their laughter as we put out the last
In the story “A Christmas Story” By Annie Dillard she begins the story describing a fest in a banquet hall that look amazing. At the banquet there were two thousand Chandeliers that were hanging from the ceiling. The author describes how the floor was looking and how it has many different colors of woods and details. Also, there were different activities at the fest like games and dancing. At the banquet there was a section that was for people that were not feeling good or was hurt. Children play with one another and they are having fun and enjoying themselves at the barguest. The fest lasted all night long and guest sat at a long table that went down the middle of the hall. The table was decorated with many colors and theme sand tableware;

making all the rest explode. That was Sam Colt’s first gun design he made (Peterson 209).
The theme of social responsibility in A Christmas Carol is played out in various aspects throughout the story, it truly is a underlying subject of the entire novella. In the third chapter, we begin to see Scrooge have a change of heart as he begins to understand his own responsibilities in regards to the poor and those feelings are projected onto the audience. The Ghost of Christmas Present used Scrooges own words against him to help bring about the change; for example, when the ghost reminds him of when the people asked him for a charitable donation for those in poverty, Scrooge told them that, “If they would rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population” (Dickens, pg. 6); the Ghost used this same statement when
The size of the parachute was a little small, so next time I think I should make the parachute larger. It would as said before, slow down the rocket more
To make it even harder to focus, we could hear the music of another guard’s performance throughout warmup. I encouraged my team to stay focus on how we want to perform. As we prepared to perform, several girls began crying and hugging as if we were already done. I talked to each girl I passed and told them that it was time to focus and to show this crowd how good we are. That performance was the perfect ending to the season; it was everything we had worked for. However, we weren’t done yet; we still had to fold our floor, put away our flags, and get ready for the awards ceremony. On our way to put away our equipment, one of my girls started crying and apologizing for a mistake she had made, afraid that she compromised the show. I told her immediately that whatever score we made, we earned it as a team. I comforted her with my own struggles of perfectionism and feelings of inadequacy, but those feelings don’t necessarily reflect our
Family portrays an important part in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol throughout the entire story. The three main points I am going to focus on are Scrooge’s relationship with Fred and family, Bob Cratchit’s family, and the effect Scrooge’s approach towards finances, work, and peers had on his relationships.
Evaluation I think that the method used in the experiment is not very accurate because the way we measure the amount of gas produced is not very
A morality play, not unlike some of the popular plays I have seen. I think we all have seen this familiar theme many times over the years. As we head into the Christmas season, where reflective thinking becomes this very theme. I can compare this play with some of these seasonal plays. The play that comes to my mind immediately is, "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.

A variety of locations were also set up where families could go to enjoy their time at the beach in a multitude of ways. There were stalls that offered interactive sessions with the children, teaching them exactly what Fourth of July meant to America and why it was such an important day in the history of the United States. Other tents sold souvenirs, towels, and morning glory sparklers for the day. In a secluded corner, a local band played bright tunes with their sun-beated guitars and intimate drum solos. Some teenagers stood in lines waiting to show off their strength and aiming skills to their girlfriends in hopes of winning them stuffed animals. There was a small section dedicated to dancing where couples would either clap and watch the public dancers dance to various tunes like, “Hey! Macarena!” This was the fun that they were all having in order to pass time for the main event later in the
In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a transformation as a result of his encounters with three ghosts and becomes a kind, happy, and generous man. His greedy, cruel, and grumpy demeanor is replaced seemingly overnight, but he doesn’t just wake up and decide to be nice. It takes three Spirits to change his outlook on life - The Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past makes Scrooge begin to regret his selfishness, and the Ghost of Christmas Present begins to teach him about others. This second Ghost helps to make him realize that money doesn't buy happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, however, teaches the most profound lesson of all: unless he changes, no one will care if Scrooge dies. Because of the Ghosts, by Christmas morning Ebenezer Scrooge is a completely different person from the man who went to bed on Christmas Eve.
In the novel, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, the author tells a story about an irritable man named Ebenezer Scrooge who dislikes Christmas. Not only was this novelette written to amuse and teach a moral lesson, but Charles Dickens also used his ability to express his outlook on the social and economic struggles during his time period which was the Victorian Era. In the novel, he shows the effects of gluttony, fortune, and the ignorance to the welfare of others. This story reveals the economic and social conflicts between the rich and the poor, and resembles how moral corruption and self-indulgence are the results of wealth and power.
Frosty the Snowman waves hello alongside Santa 's reindeer that are ready to take off. Candy canes line the sidewalk and the ginger bread dolls dance in a merry circle. The trees all sparkle with thousands of red, yellow, purple, blue, and orange lights. Out back, Mary and Joseph stand over baby Jesus, Choo-Choo train’s chug in spot, stars twinkle with bright yellow bulbs, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause wave in the distance. Kerkhoven, MN, the location of the happiest house on the block. Every year my breath is always taken away as my eyes struggle to soak in the utter abundance of Christmas spirit.
