All the people around me were excited and were in a very festive mood; and they all were perfectly allowed to do so. After all, it was the Fourth of July, Independence Day, and my birthday. I had a very pleasant feeling as I strolled through the row of tents at the beach with my friends by my side, as I observed countless people enjoying themselves under the summer sun in the commotion of the small festival. The city was quite festive – decorated by splashes of red, white, and blue everywhere. People occasionally wore a plastic Uncle Sam’s hat, wore patriotic boardshorts, or somehow showed off how American they were proud to be. It was a wonderful feeling and it was by far the best birthday that

A variety of locations were also set up where families could go to enjoy their time at the beach in a multitude of ways. There were stalls that offered interactive sessions with the children, teaching them exactly what Fourth of July meant to America and why it was such an important day in the history of the United States. Other tents sold souvenirs, towels, and morning glory sparklers for the day. In a secluded corner, a local band played bright tunes with their sun-beated guitars and intimate drum solos. Some teenagers stood in lines waiting to show off their strength and aiming skills to their girlfriends in hopes of winning them stuffed animals. There was a small section dedicated to dancing where couples would either clap and watch the public dancers dance to various tunes like, “Hey! Macarena!” This was the fun that they were all having in order to pass time for the main event later in the …show more content…
It was not long after the sun set that the city’s organizers of the festival announced the event that everybody had been waiting for. All the younger kids got really excited and ran as far up as they could, the crowd started to settle, and each and everyone of us prepared our necks looking towards the eastern end. Soon loud music began and the fireworks began to soar through the sky! People were in “oooohs” and “ahhhs” every time as soon as rocket would go up and explode in front of a dark canvas, the night sky. The fireworks were in sync with the music and produced a plethora of colorful designs that lit the sky. Although the whole event lasted under 15 minutes, it was by far one of the most wonderful experiences to any party. People let out a sigh once the fireworks display was over and a thunderous applause
Over the years, the Calle Ocho festival has brought hundreds of smiles to thousands of people. Behind the smiles, the laughter, and the dances, there is a serious side to the festivities. In the beginning, Willy Bermello just wanted a little backyard get-together that would bring neighbors closer, but the festival turned into something much, much bigger. With the festival's growth and inevitable commercialization, Bermello increasingly felt that its importance was being forgotten. He wanted to let people know this was more than just a big party. He wanted people of different races and different ethnicities to be able to feel comfortable with each other, and not just for one day. He wanted Calle Ocho's influence felt throughout the year.
amid the music and peaceful motto of the festival some individuals feel the need to be
“Line up Soldiers!” The Red-Coat was screaming at us the second we got off the bus telling us to line up and to be quiet. My fifth grade class was on a field trip on this windy November morning. We were at Riley’s Farm and about to live for a day like we were in 1765 as a Patriot during the American Revolution. We were on the bus for 2.5 hours and finally we arrived.
...an that everyone from this culture could actually experience love, peace, and community for three days. Despite the rain, lack of toiletries and toilets, and lack of food most of the youth at the festival stayed throughout the whole thing.
There are kids hesitant to watch the fireworks because of fear. They fear the darkness at night, loud noises, and large crowds with people they don’t know. For some kids, fear has a negative impression and long term effect psychologically. They try hard to avoid and escape from the situation. Not every kid is lucky enough to escape from their fears.
On Monday March 25, some members of the baseball team, my girlfriend, and I traveled to Murray State University to watch a concert performed by Nelly and the St. Lunatics. It was a terrible night to go anywhere because it was raining and storming the whole way, but there was nothing that was going to stop us from going to the concert. We where all so hyped up about it and couldn’t wait to head out. My brother, who attends Murray State, had gotten us excellent seats about seventy-five feet away from the stage.
According to Dickinson, too many celebrated events can dull out the experience because consistent occurrences dismantles the meaning. The author is an example of a radical anti-celebration case but can be disproved because celebrating often can actually benefit people more than not celebrating at all. When one celebrates, it inspires motivation and willpower. It is also a reminder that the more focused they are, the more rewards they can reap which improves self-confidence. The amount of celebrations that are held do not directly take away from the sense of accomplishment that a person might hold, but nonetheless it keeps their motivation, determination, and self-confidence high as they help a person achieve more things in their future.
In Philadelphia Mummers: Building Community Through Play, Patricia Masters explores how the Mummers began and how the parade has changed as Philadelphia has become more diverse. She effectively demonstrates the Mummers ability to produce an ongoing “play community” that has successfully triumphed in a largely fragmented society where social integration had essentially been lost at the time of its inception. Masters’ capacity to clearly outline the longstanding ceremonies of the annual parade shines through as she closely analyzes the rituals present within the community beginning in the mid-19th century. Her attention paid to the African American experience within the mumming community clarifies the conflicting practices within it and society
Decoration done was completely fascinating, moreover, there were banners all over as well as vibrant lights. It looked like a complete band performance. The sound system was at its best. There was a symphony orchestra, and, drums were what I liked the most. A small break was taken during the concert and meanwhile the host of the show made the audiences more cheerful and with a lucky draw distributed some gift hampers to people. After the break, like a boom, they come back and sang that one song which is my favorite; the song that changed my mind and views all the times, the song which gave me hope, the song which made me realize that there is God present. I sang it all my childhood and which inspired me all the way whenever I was helpless and on every occasion I lost hope. This happening moment will always be evoked by me. So, my favorite song basically says ‘Live life like a butterfly, take rest but never forget to fly’. Nevertheless, out of nowhere the special appearance performers arrive like rock stars and the devotional and poised environment transforms into a lively and cheerful atmosphere as fast as the speed of light. All the youth started dancing on the beats and the music changed like a tepid speech to an eager one. The drummer was full of energy and was charged up. The stage became as bright as the shining armor. All of a sudden it turned to be a rock band performance. There was some party music around and literally I and my friends stood up, started dancing and went till the stage. We all danced and were joined by hundreds. Observing that atmosphere my eyes gleamed like pearls. Eventually, I was privileged to get a fortunate chance of meeting and greeting Salim and Sulaiman and shaking their
But, what was the cause of the celebration? The mainstream celebration was the feeling of “finally feeling secure.” Behavioral psychologists seem to omit human security from human behavior analysis. Human Security is not only the freedom from war, but humans need to feel secure on a daily basis. Therefore, in the removal of state-centric security where American citizens are also intrinsically involved, Pauline Kerr mentions how human security focuses more on the “individual, [and] people, as the referent object, and it gives [the] most attention to those people suffering insecurities inside states” (Kerr, 2010, p. 121).
Everyone has dream in life. Some people have a dream to visit different places and some people want to become successful in future. Likewise I also had a dream to come USA and to become successful in future. I was 17 when I came here with my parents. I heard a lot from my friends about their first day in USA. They said it was so sad however mine was the best day and the long day in my life which I can’t ever forget. I still remember that day in USA; I was sleeping in the airplane because I was so tired of traveling 18 hours flight. I was in a deep sleep suddenly I heard someone was calling my name because of that I wake up. It was my mom who was calling me. She told me to look outside I rub my eyes and looked outside. I still remember that moment when I first looked California, USA through plane window, those tall building which I saw in movies looks like a plane ground. I was so excited to be here in USA I feel like it is a piece of heaven.
It was about two years ago when I arrived in United States of America, and I still remember the day when I left my native country, Honduras. As I recall, one day previous to my departure, I visited my relatives who live in San Pedro Sula. They were all very happy for me to see me except my grandmother Isabel. She looked sad; even though she tried to smile at all times when I was talking to her, I knew that deep inside of her, her heart was broken because of my departure the next morning. I remember that I even told her, “Grandma, do not worry about me, I’ll be fine. I promise that I will write you letters and send you pictures as much as possible.” Here reply was, “I know sweetie I know you will.” Suddenly after she said that I started to cry. For som...
As we all waited in line to go into the concert there was a thrill of excitement in the air. I was standing there with two of my friends. when we saw a few other people we knew. " Hey, come over here!" I bellowed.
The moon was shining brightly over our heads; the time about midnight, and still our journey had just begun. There were people frolicking everywhere; people of all ages, mostly teenagers though. They were dancing, hugging each other and running around zestfully. Most were dressed in Baggy jeans. One girl wearing a see-through plastic skirt with her pink daisy underwear displayed for all to view. Others had on doctor's masks, were carrying glow sticks, and some even had pacifiers in their. I looked at myself, jeans and a T-shirt. "I don't think I'm dressed right." I whispered to my friend, a so-called Rave expert. "Don't worry babe, nobody is going to care." He replied.
Daylight turning into night as the concert went on, the last performer Deadmau5 came on stage with his lit up mouse head to end off this music festival. Looking around the crowd all I could see were diehard fans wearing a replica of the famous mouse head. Regardless of all the people around me, I feel as though Deadmau5 is serenading to me, not the crowd of tired and stinking teenagers. After twenty minutes, everyone’s lungs weakened after screaming the lyrics louder than Deadmau5 himself. Veld was coming to the end as we all looked up into the beautiful sky with big, loud fireworks going off. The fireworks lit up the sky to a magical ending. Deadmau5 ends his set and as I look around me to see everyone giving hugs to their friends, smiling knowing this is the end of a great festival. We all wait for next year’s musical festival, Veld 2014!
